I have the Migraine problem and gets severe headache how can I help myself with daily work.

MBBS, Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL)
Dermatologist, Raigarh
Migrae migraine is more of a preventable disease than curative. You have to identify the triggers of your headache and avoid them. Avoid exposure to bright light, loud sound, sunlight. Avoid stress. Avoid chocolate and coffee. Have enough sleep. Drink 3-4 litres of water daily. I can prescribe you prophylactic medicines too if you want.

Migrane can be managed with lifestyle changes and medications, try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation may help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. Rest and relax. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. It is very important keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective. A dose of riboflavin in appropriate dose as prescribed by me, also may prevent migraines or reduce the frequency of headaches. Coenzyme q10 supplements may decrease the frequency of migraines, magnesium supplements may also be used to treat migraines do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Essential tremors is a nerve disorder characterized by uncontrollable shaking, or "tremors, in different parts and on different sides of the body Areas affected often include the hands, arms, head, larynx (voice box), tongue, and chin. The lower body is rarely affected. ET is not a life-threatening disorder, unless it prevents a person from caring for him or herself. Most people are able to live normal lives with this condition -- although they may find everyday activities like eating, dressing, or writing difficult. It is only when the tremors become severe that they actually cause disability. If you are having problem in activities of daily life then only you may consult a neurologist or psychiatrist.

I am 47 years old get floaters since April 2016. I also have epilepsy problem. But I found floaters is not any way connected to epilepsy. I consulted the ophthalmologist in Chennai. They said there is no treatment for the floaters. My question is sometimes it is less and sometimes I feel it is more in a day. The ophthalmologist whom I consulted said that my position is not that laser treatment is needed. So will the floaters increase with age and till what stage I can ignore? Also will it affect my vision in due course of aging?

The floaters are due to vitreous degeneration inside the eye causing cells to float in the liquid media of the eye. When these cells pass through visual axis they can be seen as floaters. More clear when seeing towards the sky. Usually they tend to occur in small number, non pathological and increase with age, but are tolerable (doesn't hinder your vision). But if it occurs as a shower of floaters and affects your vision, then it can be pathological as in case of some retinal disease or trauma to the eye and requires immediate attention and management. As such there is no specific treatment for floaters, but washing the eyes frequently and use of some antioxidant and multivitamin (specific for the eye and retina) tablets have shown to reduce the floaters. To know some antioxidant and multivitamin tablet specific for the eyes ask me.

I am giving some health tips for Migraine headache •1.You can turn off light for some time •2.Apply hot or cold compresses to your head or neck. •Ice packs have a numbing effect, which may dull the sensation of pain. •Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. • •3.Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect. •4.You can take Tea or coffee( but not excess) 5.Sleep well Here are some tips to encourage sleep. Establish regular sleep hours. •Minimize distractions. •Your eating habits can influence your migraines. •Be consistent. Eat at about the same time every day. Don't skip meals. Sir I am unable to behave as I want to behave with other. I want to change my behavior but I can't do it. And then I feel more nervous to see others reaction. It affects my relationship with other and also my carrier. Help me.

Msc - Clinical and Counselling Psychology

Dear Lybrate-User, Thank you for reaching out. Make a list of the behaviours you wish to change and what you want to change it to. Explore your thoughts and feelings behind this behaviour. If your nervousness in social situations is due to your self confidence, you need to start working on that. Start small. Choose an easy situation or person that you can practice feeling confident with. Slowly work your way up to handling more difficult situations. Please remember that this will take time and effort from your side. If you feel anxious in social situations remember to relax and take a few deep breaths. Plan your conversations and topics before heading into your social situations. Remember to take deep calming breaths and normalize your breathing if you start to feel anxious. There are many more techniques one can use to change behaviour, feel more self-confident and less anxious in social situations. Please consult privately for further help. Good luck.
