Hi, there are two types of insomnia: primary insomnia and secondary insomnia. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development. The damage from sleep deficiency can occur in an instant (such as a car crash), or it can harm you over time. For example, ongoing sleep deficiency can raise your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. Management: here are five tips everyone can use to help improve the quality of their sleep: keep your bedroom cool and dark put away/turn off all electronic devices while preparing for bedtime stick to a regular bedtime and wake time every day, even on weekends stop drinking caffeine by the early afternoon and avoid large late-night meals skip the late-afternoon nap, as it can make it harder to sleep at bedtime avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Do regular exercise. Go for a brisk walk in the morning. Medication: take schwabe's bacopa monierri 1x/ thrice daily and kali phos./ once daily at night for 1 month.

My daughter (now 20 years old) has stubborn fat which will not go by dieting or normal exercise. She is in college and has lot of work and cannot spend a lot of time for rigorous exercise. Dear Lybrate User... Your daughter can definitely be fitter with lesser weight. It needs some time and proper guidance. 1. There is no such thing as 'stubborn fat'. Body fat is just fat. 2. Extra fat is a deposit which has accumulated due to imbalance in food and activity. 3. In our households we keep force-feeding / over-feeding our children to make them look 'chubby' .....but one fine day when they grow up... we realise they are overweight and we look for instant solutions to quickly remove that fat. 4. You need to alter the way food is cooked and served at home. 5. Oils - Cut down all fried and oily food.. Per person per day oil limit is 4 teaspoons. This includes any type of oil/ghee total. 5A. Cut down all puris, parathas, pakodas, papads etc which consume too much oil. 6. Sugar - per person per day 4 teaspoons only. 7. These have to be strictly measured on a daily basis and then you will realise how much excess oil/sugar is being consumed. 8. Focus on creating fruit salads, veg salads, sprout salads. These should be available at all times. Increase consumption of all types of fruits. 9. Don't keep any mixture / namkeen / chocolates / biscuits / cakes in the house. 10. Eat simple meals, avoid ordering from outside / eating out 11. Just guide your daughter to follow these guidelines even at college because the college kids consume a lot of junk food, chips, colas, chocolates... which accumulates as fat in the body. 12. She has to find time for at least 30 minutes everyday for exercise / walk / yoga or gym. If a young person does not work out for at least 30 minutes, they would face health problems later. Such things must become lifelong habits. 13. It is good that you are trying to help out your daughter... For this the food habits and exercise habits of the entire household members have to change. 14. Nature has the best answers for health. 15. Keep striving. Never give up

Hello, Kindly explain me what type of menstrual problem/ irregularity is there - are you getting periods frequently/ getting delayed/ much bleeding during the menses? Since how long you have been suffering from this problem? Any associated symptoms or complaints? Any medical condition do you have? Have you got your investigations done (if yes, share the reports with me)? Answer all these questions for proper diagnosis and proper treatment. Any nutritional deficiency can also lead to irregularity. Take more of green vegetables, nuts, salads, seasonal fruits, yellow coloured veggies, milk & milk products, plenty of water and enough of sleep & rest. Take homoeopathic medication for your irregular menses – Schwabe's Five Phos. And Alfaalfa Tonic – both thrice daily for 1 month. There after revert me back..take care.

Hi. It's normal to loose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin) , different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

I was taking fix advance tab for 3 to 4 months, know changed to hair fix tab from 3 months I am taking this and hair 4 you liquid. I am doing this from at least 7 to 8 months but I am not getting any specific result. As I consult my doctor he tells me it will take time continue it. I have a problem of hair loss and hair thinning. My question is are these medicines are good and till how much time I have to take this medicines, and I had stopped my medicines in between for 15 to 20 days my hair started falling rapidly then I started again please guide me on this issue. 1 year back I did crash dieting and lost around 25 kgs in 8 to 7 months after that my hair started falling rapidly and gaps can be seen in scalp that's why I consulted a dermatologist. Hi. Hair fall / whitening may be heredity reasons and fungal infection in scalp and hormones imbalances and stress and less minerals in body also. Avoid stress. Take minerals / vitamins/ protein rich meals. Control hormones. Avoid any cosmetic shampoo and hair oil. Use alovera shampoo and coconut hair oil. Use ketomac shampoo once a week regularly. It protects from fungal infections. May be use minerals drops twice a week in hair directly. Or take hormones therapy.

Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

Hi As my frnd suffer from type 1 diabetes , is it compulsory to take insulin daily? Is any other treatment there?and can it treated permanently?

Hello Type 1 DM is due to absolute insulin deficiency. So for them Insulin is the only thing which is required and oral medication which are available are contraindicated I am sorry to tell you that it needs to be controlled with regular insulijn doasge and regualr checkups but unfortunately it cannot be treated permanently Thanks Dr Joozer Rangwala

Hello pimple are some times common with the age due to hormonal imbalances. But I am giving you some tips, follow it. * eat turmeric 1 tsp before meal * eat ajvayan 1 tsp & jeera 1 tsp after each meal * avoid sour salty spice food * avoid curd, but take butter milk * use only cow milk & ghee * avoid stress, late sleep, day sleep, oily food, cold water * for local application you can use triphala, yastimadhu, lodhra, nimb powder mix with buttermilk or ointment aclrear or acnowin for local application for better suggestions & medicine, I need detait history like appetite, bowel habits, diet, lifestyle, acidity or gastric trouble? etc. You should take herbal face treatment in nearer ayurveda centre. It will help to remove marks. You can use kumkumadi lepam of nagarjun pharma.

. Follow these best tips to get in shape and loose weight.* body become over weight due to deposition of fatty tissues. First you should follow diet plan for weight loss. * in morning, take 2-3 chapattis witha bowl of cooked green vegetables. You can take a glass of without cream milk after 2 hour of breakfast. *in lunch you can take a bowl of soupor salad. *in evening, you can take a cup of teawith glucose biscuits. *in dinner, you can take a bowl of fruits or 2 chapattis with a bowl of vegetables. * for thighs & hips - work out for atleast 1 hour in morning, you can try skipping for 15 minutes with a walk of 30 minutes and 5-10 minutes running. To reduce the tummy, * lie down on flat surface, raise your legs without bending your knees, do it for 3-5 times daily * lie down on plain surface, put your hands on the back of head by folding your elbows, now move your head towads the knees try to touch your knees with forehead and then move back and lie down. Repeat it for 5-10 times daily for flat tummy. * do surya namaskar yoga everyday, as surya namaskar have 12 forms of yoga. Do it for in morning everyday to get in shape in short period. * do not eat fastfoods and soft drinks, as they have high calories. * you can take guggalu tablets of himalaya company 1 tablet daily for atleast 3 months but only under the supervision of ayurveda expert.

Hair fall is common now a days. Due to stress and eating habits. And some illness, like anemia, thyroid and hereditary problems. Take following homoeo medicine. Acid hydroflouric 30 (30 ml sbl company). 1 drop 3 times per day x 14 days on tongue. Do not take anything 15 min before after medicine. ALSO use arnica montana Q 30 ml + 100 ml pure coconut oil mix and use before wash twice weekly. Use arnica homoeopathic shampoo take plenty water 3 to 4 liters per day. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Hi lybrate-user mofify your diet by adding oats: is extremely high in fiber, hence one portion of oats in the morning for breakfast can keep you full and energetic throughout the day, reducing your caloric intake. Greens: like spinach, methi, broccoli etc are very low in calories and high in fiber, vitamins and minerals thereby reducing water retention and bloating from your body. Beans: like kidney beans, soya beans etc are filled with resistant fiber and proteins which help release energy slowly and keeping you full for a longer time. They also feed your muscles and help them tone up. Lean chicken and fish: are good sources of protein which increase muscle and thereby metabolic rate which helps fat burning and also adds bulk to the meals. Cucumber: is very high in water content and acts as a natural diuretic which helps to reduce water retention and bloating leading to weight loss. Brown rice: are not only high in fiber but also in energy giving b complex vitamins which leads to faster burning of calories. Almonds and walnuts: are excellent sources of vitamin and fiber. A handful of nuts as mid meal snacks can really do wonders. Papaya: an extremely low calorie fruit which contains papain- aiding in faster digestion of proteins and helping in weight loss. There are various reasons for hair loss. It can be nutritional, stress related. Acute illness, chronic illness can also trigger it. It is important to understand whether it is hair fall or it is hair thinning. Both has different causative reasons. Thinning is hormone related genetic problem. It is progressive by nature. Hair is minerals, protein and iron. Eat food which is rich in all these. Oil the scalp 3/week and wash it 3/week.

hi, Yes, zinc and selenium will help you in hairloss problem. Take them for 3 months and after that discontinue it. Along with this, you can also take homoeopathic medicines which are very much safe to take - Weisbaden 200/ twice daily. Use Schwabe's Arnica Shampoo.
