Which salt is better table salt or pink salt? If I have switched to pink salt for daily basis, is there any problems? Is it lowers the iodine level of body? Can it useful for kids (below 12 yrs)

Which salt is better table salt or pink salt? If I have switched to pink salt for daily basis, is there any problems?...
The debate on this is still on. I would advise you to have both pink salt n low sodium table salt in your diet but both in moderation. Table salt is sufficiently iodised and free from any toxic remains after the processing. Pink salt on the other hand is natural unprocessed pure salt with no harmful additives which come from refining. But might have small quantities of toxic substances. Also, The many minerals present in pink salt are in minuscule quantities and these nutrients can be got easily from other dietary sources. Pink salt has 13 to 20% low sodium. You can pick up low sodium table salt from the stores for that purpose. Cost of Himalayan pink salt is v high in comparison to our table salt.

Chicken pox takes 7-10 days to recover. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of liquids. Eat soft diet and healthy one. Take bath with cool or lukewarm water. For itching apply calamine lotion locally. Take antiallergic tablet for itching if required. Take over-the-counter painkiller if intolerable pain. Hope this helps you. If required, consult.

I had a surgery when I was born. I was operated throughout the region extending from scrotum up to the penis tip. This is basically for passing the urine properly. I have stitch marks, they are still visible clearly. They go way up to the tip of the penis from the scrotum. Well it doesn't hurt me but I'm concerned whether they would be a problem in my sexual life. Is there any way I can suppress their visibility to a minimal amount?

Urinary Incontinence Treatment Options in Men

Urinary Incontinence Treatment Options in Men

Urinary incontinence is a health condition in men, which causes loss of bladder control. Urinary incontinence usually occurs in cases of medical conditions such as an enlarged prostate, Parkinson's disease and diabetes, and may also occur after a prostate surgery. Urinary incontinence is an irritating and embarrassing condition, but with proper treatment, it can be cured.

Here are several methods used to treat urinary incontinence:

  1. Caffeine, soda and carbonated drinks cause irritation in the bladder and worsen the symptoms of urinary incontinence. Alcohol is a diuretic and increases the amount of urine too. So abstain from coffee, alcohol and soft drinks to make a difference.
  2. Dietary adjustments are required for the treatment of urinary incontinence. Several spicy and acidic food items can make urinary incontinence worse. Hence, you should avoid having such foods for some time.
  3. Urinary incontinence can lead to stress and you must get rid of it for better health. You can try relaxation techniques, such as meditation and breathing exercises. Biofeedback is another option by which you can observe your bladder muscle contractions on a monitor.
  4. You should try a behavioral technique known as bladder training. This would require you to urinate every half hour, in spite of not having the urge. Slowly try to increase the time in between the bathroom breaks.
  5. You need to flex your muscles to gain control over urinary incontinence. Kegel exercises can be practiced as these boost the strength of your pelvic muscles. You should find the right muscles that are required to stop the passing of gas.
  6. Pads and disposable undergarments can be used by men. These help in preventing leaks and also protect the skin from irritation and odor.
  7. There are several medicines, which help in the treatment of urinary incontinence in men. Some of these work to relax muscles for preventing unwanted bladder contractions, while others help in blocking the nerve signals to the bladder. Drugs used for the shrinking of an enlarged prostate may also be used in some cases.

Surgery is the ultimate option for the treatment of urinary incontinence. Options include a male sling for urinary incontinence. A type of material is wrapped around the urethra for compressing it. Leaks because of coughing, sneezing or laughing are prevented. Artificial sphincter implants may also be used for treatment of urinary incontinence. A cuff is used in order to close the urethra. Urine is released by squeezing the pump to open the cuff. A device similar to a pacemaker is used to stimulate nerves, which help in relaxing the bladder and pelvic floor.

Urinary incontinence is a condition which causes reduced self confidence in men. But there are several ways to treat this condition which include home remedies as well as medications and surgery.

A few patients have enquired about the 1st line of drug for Type 2 diabetes. Usually, Metformin is the first drug to be given in non-pregnant Type 2 Diabetes, along with advice on diet changes, exercises & lifestyle modifications (quit smoking, quit or reduce alcohol, etc). But in a few patients, Insulin might be used as 1st line. But even in such patients, Metformin is given along with Insulin.
