Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Pre-diabetes is considered when blood glucose is in the following range: Fasting:108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c% 5.7 to 6.4. This is a stage when by adapting a modified lifestyle one can either prevent progressing to diabetes or postpone the same. Diabetes is diagnosed when Fasting glucose is 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above & HbA1c% 6.5 and above. So you will have to take care and prevent from progressing to the next stage. Looking at your weight and height it is clear that with a BMI of 26.29 kgs/M2 you are overweight. Your ideal weight should be 70 kgs. So please work on that, which will help in better control. Thanks.

I have to many scars on my both chicks and accidental scar on my forehead I have try many facewash creams, no effect ...
For scars usually multiple types of treatments are needed for maximum improvement. Patience is key since the full effect is often not seen for several months. Skin discoloration and texture can be improved with topical treatments like hydroquinone and Retin-A, but for deeper scars and more significant discoloration, other techniques like laser resurfacing and microneedling are needed.

Dear sir/madam, I am a married woman with a child and a good husband but fall in love with a single introvert depressed man, who is suffering from clinical depression more than 10 years which is said by psychiatrist. And it is untreated. Before one year he was treated for nerve problem as he is having a pain through out his body and his left hand used to shake. So the previous doctor said he was suffering from perkinson disease. But the psychiatrist said he is not having any nerve problem he is suffering from deep depression. He is having a hobby of aquarium and he is having an small ngo which is his life. And he for this organization he doesn't get married. He is having a habit of run away from home. More than two times he run away from his home without saying anybody anything. And after one or two days he returned back. Any type of pressure or stress, he can't handle and he becomes totally silent and runaway from the situation. But he said he loves me too much, and as we get married from our soul he wants to live with me for ever. But his behaviour and mood is so fragile and sensitive that's why I am getting totally frustrated and unable to take any decision. One day he is good and might be within the next hour he is a completely a different man. Presently more than one year he is not taking the medicine regularly. When ever he doesn't feel well he takes the medicine" depsonil. But not as per the prescription. The doctor gave him another medicine know as licab" but he donot take this medicine. Near about 6 months he is not talking with me. No phone calls no personal talking. Once before six months there were some problem was created and my brother talk with him, that he completely blame me for the relationship. And said now he wants to completely concentrate with his organization work. And when my brother asked him does he want to marry me, he said no. Though we get married from our soul and we are having a physical attachment. When I heard all those things and said him how could he said all those things, he became shameful and became speechless. After those incident whenever I decide to end the relationship, he began to cry, or do something danger incident. I really love him too much but I get too much upset also with his behaviour. My legal husband is very supportive and he understands the situation and my mental condition. He also tried to make him understand, but nothing works. His behaviour sometimes torture me so much that I become totally helpless. I don't know what should I do? he is not ready to go to the doctor. And there is no one in his family who is going to help him. And he is so much stubborn that no one can do anything to him. Please show me the way how can I help him and make him talk to me again as before. One thing is good about him, he's really trying to do a lot of work and established his organization. But the decision what ever he is taking are not good enough. But he will not listen to anyone also. He doesn't want to end the relationship and he doesn't want to take any responsibility also. I don't know what should I do. I get afraid if he make suicide, I don't want to lost him, what should I do? how can I maintain both the relationship smooth. I am now presently in a highly depressed condition. One thing I forgot to mention, he is now 52 years old and I am 35. One question more does he really a patient of depression or he acts in front me. Please let me know and does he still loves me? please guide me. Thanking you radha.

Dear sir or mam, I have very dark completion I solve this by home remedies without any cosmetic products. .
Hi, Here are some tips for fairer and flawless skin: -Soak some almonds in water overnight, remove their skin in the morning and grind them. Add a teaspoon of gram fluor, one teaspoon of milk and 4 drops of lime juice. Make a paste, mix it well and apply it on your face.Regular massage gives you long lasting clear and fair skin. -Turmeric is good ingredient for skin. Make a face pack with mixture of turmeric and milk. Apply this and wash off after an hour with cold water for glowing skin. Lemon juice and glycerin work nicely for dry skin whereas fuller’s earth and turmeric are used for oily skin. -Mix papaya and honey and mash it. Apply and wash after 20 minutes. Use this face pack every other day for a naturally spotless fair skin. This pack also eliminates the sun tanning which causes patchiness on the skin and the dark spots or the pimple marks which will refrain the skin from looking spotless. -Take one tomato, grate it well and mix it with 3-4 drops of lime juice. Apply it on your face wait for 15 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat it daily and feel the change on your face. -A mixture of egg white, milk cream and honey works excellent against skin tanning. Mix tomato juice with honey or yogurt and apply it daily on skin to remove tanning. -Make dilute paste of mint leaves and almond seeds with warm water. Wash your face and neck with this water and wash again with clean warm water. You can add mint leaves in regular bathing water to get glow and freshness to your skin.

Common side effects include redness of the skin, swelling of the treated area, and moderate irritation similar to the feeling produced by a mild sunburn. In rare cases involving laser skin resurfacing, side effects such as burning, scarring, or a change in the pigmentation of the skin have occurred

I am 34years I have gas pain please say any home remedies and given some advice please .
Take equal parts of ground ginger, fennel, and cardamom. Mix them thoroughly. Now, take a cup of water. Add one teaspoon of this mixture and a pinch of asafetida (hing) in it. Drink this once or twice a day. Alternatively, you can consume a little ginger juice mixed with a pinch of asafetida. To prevent gas from forming, chew a fresh piece of ginger regularly after meals. You can also add small amounts of dried or fresh ginger to your food. Drinking ginger tea can help control the formation of gas in the stomach. Boil one tablespoon of ground ginger in water for a few minutes. Drink this tea two or three times a day. Another option is to add a few drops of ginger essential oil to any kind of base oil and rub it on your stomach.

Learning Disorders

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health
Pediatrician, Hyderabad
Learning Disorders

What is a learning disorder?

A learning disorder is defined as difficulty in an academic area (reading, mathematics, or written expression). The child's ability to achieve in the specific academic area is below what is expected for the child's age, educational level, and level of intelligence. The difficulty experienced by the child is severe enough to interfere with academic achievement or age-appropriate normal activities of daily living. About 8% of children in schools are classified as having specific learning disabilities and receive some kind of special education support.

What causes learning disorders?

Learning disorders are believed to happen because of an abnormality in the nervous system, either in the structure of the brain or in the functioning of brain chemicals. The difference in the nervous system causes the child with a learning disorder to receive, process, or communicate information in a different way.

Who is affected by learning disorders?

According to the U.S. Department of Education, about 5% of children in U.S. schools (kindergarten through grade 12) have some type of learning disorder.

Genetic predisposition, problems during pregnancy, birth, or early infancy, as well as other general medical conditions may be associated with the cause of learning disorders.

What are the symptoms of learning disorders?

The following are the most common symptoms of learning disorders. However, each child may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:

  • Reading disorder. A reading disorder is present when a child reads below the expected level given his or her age, grade in school, and intelligence. Children with a reading disorder read slowly and have difficulty understanding what they read. They may have difficulty with word recognition and confuse words that look similar. A reading disorder is sometimes called dyslexia.

  • Mathematics disorder. A mathematics disorder is present when a child has problems with skills related to numbers. Examples of this include counting, copying numbers correctly, adding and carrying numbers, learning multiplication tables, recognizing mathematical signs, and understanding mathematical operations.

  • Disorder of written expression. A disorder of written expression is present when a child has difficulty with writing skills. Examples of this include understanding grammar and punctuation, spelling, paragraph organization, or composing written information. Often these children also have poor handwriting skills.

How are learning disorders diagnosed?

The signs of learning disorders may be identified by parents or teachers when a child consistently has difficulty with any, or all, of the following:

  • Reading, spelling, writing, or completing math problems

  • Understanding or following directions

  • Distinguishing right from left

  • Reversing letters or numbers (confusing "b" and "d" or 12 and 21)

A comprehensive evaluation by educational and mental health professionals includes educational and psychological testing, as well as talking with the child and parents. A comprehensive evaluation identifies whether a child has a learning disorder. It also identifies learning strengths and weaknesses. Results of the evaluation are used to determine educational needs, identify the best school placement, and determine the possible need for medicine to help with distractibility or hyperactivity. Results can also determine the possible benefit of any additional therapies, such as speech therapy or family psychotherapy, to maximize the child's learning potential and quality of life.

Treatment for learning disorders

Specific treatment for learning disorders will be determined by the coordinated effort of your child's healthcare provider and mental health and educational professionals based on:

  • Your child's age, overall health, and medical history

  • Extent of the disorder

  • Type of disorder

  • Your child's tolerance for specific medicines or therapies

  • Expectations for the course of the disorder

  • Your opinion or preference

Learning disorders are treatable. A coordinated effort between parents, teachers, and mental health professionals provides the basis for individualized treatment strategies. These may include individual or group remediation, and/or special classes or resources.

Prevention of learning disorders

Preventive measures to reduce how often learning disorders happen are not known at this time. However, discovering learning disorders and doing something about them early on can reduce their severity. This will also improve the quality of life experienced by children with learning disorders.

I have itching scalp, I am taking head bath 2 times per week. Recently my hair fall increased. Can anyone suggest me ...
I hope this message finds you in good health. To prevent hair fall, you can follow some simple steps as listed below: 1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home). 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair.

Excess sebum secretion by the oil glands is the primary cause behind this problem. Pimples generally occur on the face, neck, back and shoulders. A combination of honey and cinnamon powder is a natural home remedy. When this paste is applied on the pimples and left over night it cures pimples. The process however should be continued for a couple of weeks.
