Hlo. My Name is Gopi and am 21 years old Engineering student. Pls suggest me a helpful and beneficial way to come out...
All people are not of same height and you have to be happy with your height . For the tummy you need to reduce diet and do tummy exercises .5 Fast Ways To Lose Your Belly ========================= 1. Fuel Up Foods rich in protein help you build muscle, while soluble fiber – found in oats, beans, fruits, and veggies – shrinks belly fat. A study from Wake Forest found that for every 10-gram increase in soluble fiber people ate daily (about two small apples, a serving of oatmeal, a half cup of pinto beans, and a half cup of peas), their belly fat decreased by almost 4% over five years. 2. Fiber Adding ground flaxseed to your diet – mix a teaspoon or two into cereal or yogurt – helps prevent constipation. (It’s hard to have flat abs if your pipes are backed up.) To avoid stomachaches, increase fiber slowly and up your water intake, . 3. Cardio In a Duke University study of 196 sedentary, overweight adults, aerobic training significantly reduced deep belly fat and also burned more visible midsection flab. To maximize the benefit with a minimum time commitment, try interval training, suggests exercise physiologist Jessica Matthews of the American Council on Exercise. Start with a 1:2 ratio (jog 30 seconds, then walk briskly for a minute), aiming for 150 minutes weekly. 4. Stand Up Straight Standing tall, with tummy and butt tucked in, automatically makes your front look flatter. These two moves help you pull it off. Do each two to three times per week; work up to three sets of 12 reps. Even sitting up straight on a daily basis, instead of slouching over as you watch TV or are on your phone, will help you build up your muscles around your stomach. Just think about it: you’re doing a light version of a plank, standing up! 5. Strengthen Your Core Glute Bridge: Lie on back with bent knees, feet on floor. Lift butt, drawing pelvis to the ceiling without arching back. Lower butt down slowly. Bird Dog: From all fours, extend one arm and the opposite leg to shoulder and hip height simultaneously, keeping shoulders and hips squared to the floor. Lower slowly to start, and repeat on opposite side. Front Plank: Lie on stomach, with forearms on floor and hands palm-down on either side of chest. Tuck toes, lift legs, tighten abs, and raise body to a modified push-up position, keeping forearms on the floor. Hold five seconds, then lower. Repeat three times. Work up to holding for 20 seconds each time. Half-Kneel Lift: Kneel on right knee, with left foot forward and left knee at 90-degree angle. Hold a soccer ball with both hands at right hip. Without rotating body, slowly bring ball up and across until it’s above left shoulder and slightly behind you. Return to start. Do two to three sets of eight to 12 reps on each side.

All About Diabetic Nephropathy

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Nephrology, DNB (Nephrology)
Nephrologist, Delhi
All About Diabetic Nephropathy

Nephropathy is also known as renal disease. It is any type of damage or disease relating to the kidneys. Though not everyone with diabetes has nephropathy, however, diabetic nephropathy can cause kidney failure.

How does diabetes affect the kidney?
Kidneys are responsible for taking waste out from your blood. They have a lot of tiny blood vessels to do this. High blood sugar may kill such blood vessels. Once these blood vessels are destroyed, the kidneys may not function as well or it may even lead to kidney failure.

What increases your risk of getting diabetic nephropathy?
There are several factors which increase your risk of getting diabetic nephropathy including: \

  1. High blood pressure
  2. High cholesterol
  3. Smoking
  4. Being Native American, African American or of Hispanic origin, for whom risk factors have proved to be magnified
  5. If you have family history of diabetic nephropathy

Symptoms and diagnosis:
There are very few noticeable symptoms, which appear when you have diabetic nephropathy, except swelling in your arms and legs. The diagnosis is done by checking for a type of protein in your urine known as albumin, which is not supposed to be there. Getting the diagnosis done early is crucial.

Preventive measures:
You can prevent kidney damage by doing the following:

  1. Keeping your blood sugar levels under control - keep HbA1C < 6-7%
  2. Keeping your blood pressure under control in the range of 130/80
  3. Eating healthy food
  4. Exercising regularly
  5. Not eating too much protein
  6. Not eating too much salt
  7. Reducing smoke or excessive tobacco usage

Medicines for treatment:
If you do get diabetic nephropathy, here are some medicines, which can help cure it

  1. ACE inhibitors which are also called angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors
  2. Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)

Possible complications:

  1. Blood pressure may rise
  2. Triglyceride levels and cholesterol levels may rise.

10 Things To Know About Adolescent Anxiety

10 Things To Know About Adolescent Anxiety

Anxiety is a common issue with growing teenagers. It is not the typical anxiety before exams or academic projects. It is more than that. Anxiety may be the result of the hormonal changes, which predominantly affect the adolescent years of growth. While your body copes with different changes, your mind tangles between the future liberty and present restrictions. Knowing certain facts about this anxiety trail can help you to cope with it.

1. Anxiety is not always a disease: Anxiety is not always a disease. It is a normal phenomenon among adolescent teenagers. However, in certain cases it may be severe for some teenagers. They may feel crippled with anxiety. Under such cases, one would require psychiatric help.

2. Talk to someone: A great way to relieve yourself from stress due to anxiety is to speak with someone. It can be a friend or someone close to share your thoughts. If you know the reason of your anxiety, share it, discuss it. You will definitely feel better.

3. Take a break: Entertainment and break from academic work and schedule is necessary for teenagers to lower anxiety traits. However, if the anxiety is due to peers, you may even take a break from them and engage in family.

4. Cry out loud: It is not a silly thing to cry when you are stressed under anxiety. Crying is an emotional outburst which essentially relieves the stress due to anxiety and lets you control the emotional disturbed state of mind.

5. Good sleep: Sleep is necessary for both mental and physical rest. You need to overcome from the fatigue of routine works, stressful events, peer factor, etc. Catching the essential 8 hour sleep is a great way to overcome anxiety issues.

6. Don’t be conscious: Anxiety is a common factor among all your peers. You are not the only one coping with anxiety stress. So, take it light. Relax and don’t be conscious about your anxiety problems. Consider them to be temporary.

7. Be confident: Losing confidence under the stress due to anxiety can be even more disastrous. The effects will never be better. So be confident about whatever you do, whether right or wrong. Every person learns from his own activities. Whether right or wrong, everything will give you a lesson. So you will never be a loser, you will win a lesson.

8. Don’t feel stupid: Being stressed with anxiety is not abnormal or stupid. Everything is okay with you, and you are not the stupid fellow out there.

9. You are not weak: Anxiety is not a sign of weakness. You can rather make it your strength. Fight it back and keep your energy and enthusiasm high.

10. Anxiety is temporary: As you move ahead of the adolescent period, anxiety will faint. You will be more confident and matured, able to tackle anxiety. So consider it to be an affair of a few years. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychiatrist.

Chemical Peel and the Pathology Behind It

Fellowship in Aesthetic Medicine, MD, MBBS

Chemical Peel and the Pathology Behind It

Chemical peeling is a medical procedure which includes application of a chemical agent to the skin, causing controlled destruction of the epidermis, with or without the dermis, leading to exfoliation and removal of superficial lesions, followed by regeneration of new epidermal and dermal tissues. In simple words chemical peeling or chemical rejuvenation is procedure where a chemical agent or combination of agents of defined strength are applied the skin causing a controlled destruction of layers of the skin. This is followed by regeneration and remodeling leading to improvement of texture and surface abnormalities. It is a safe, effective and affordable option for improving skin ageing and imperfections.

Skin is considered the largest organ of the body and has many different functions. The skin is divided in two main regions, the epidermis and the dermis. The dermis is attached to an underlying hypodermis also called subcutaneous connective tissue.

Epidermis: It is the most superficial layer of the skin. The first barrier of protection from the invasion of foreign substances. The epidermis is divided into four layers – stratum corneum, stratum granulosum, stratum spinosum and stratum basalis(basal layer).

Dermis: It is composed of fibroblasts which are responsible for secreting collagen, elastin and ground substance that gives support and elasticity to skin. It supplies the epidermis with nutrients and has its role in thermoregulation. The dermis is subdivided into two zones, upper papillary and lower reticular layer.

Classification of peels according to histological depth

  1. Very superficial peel – Exfoliation of the stratum cormeum, without any epidermal necrosis.
  2. Superficial peel – Destruction of the full epidermis, up to the basal layer
  3. Medium peel – Destruction of the epidermis, papillary dermis and upto the upper one third of the reticular dermis.
  4. Deep peel – Necrosis of the entire epidermis and papillary dermis with inflammation extending to the mid reticular dermis.

Classification of chemical peeling agents

Very superficial Peel:

  • Glycolic Acid 30-50% applied for 1-2 minutes
  • TCA* 10% applied as one coat
  • Jessner’s solution 1-3 coats

Superficial Peel:

  • Glycolic acid 50-70% applied for 2-10 mins (depending on the type and thickness of the skin)
  • TCA 10-30%
  • Jessner’s solution 4-10 coats
  • Very superficial and superficial Peels are the mildest form and often called, “the lunchtime peel.” These peels break down corneocyte adhesion, causing dead skin cells to shed off to reveal the fresh, healthy underlying skin. These peels address minor skin irregularities like discoloration, acne, surface scarring, fine lines, and sun spots.

Medium Peel:

  • Glycolic acid 70% applied for 3-30 mins (depending on the type and thickness of the skin)
  • TCA 35-50%
  • Glycolic Acid 70% plus TCA 35%
  • Jessner’s solution plus TCA 35%

Deep Peel:

  • Phenol 88%
  • Baker Gordon phenol formula
  • Medium and deep peels increase the collagen and glycosaminoglycans content, cause collagen remodeling and increase dermal thickness to improve the clinical appearance of the skin with reduced wrinkles, skin tightening and pigmentary dyschromia.

Reason behind chemical peeling:

  • Wound healing process is an important reason for rejuvenation. The phases of wound healing after chemical exfoliation are apparent:
  • Inflammatory phase (1-5 days) – This phase is evident after peeling as erythma and swelling on the skin
  • Proliferative phase (2-21 days) – In superficial peels, the basement membrane is intact, hence normal epidermis is restored in 2 to 3 days. In medium to deep peels, wound is below basement membrane and re-epithelialization takes time.
  • Remodeling phase (3 weeks to 2 years) – collagen remodeling is the main reason that chemical peels cause rejuvenation and reduce wrinkles.

Indications for peels:

1. Pigmentary disorders

  • Resistant melasma
  • Pigmented cosmetic dermatitis
  • Freckles
  • Lentigines
  • Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation

2. Acne

  • Comedonal acne
  • Post acne scars
  • Acne cosmetic
  • Acne excoriee

3. Cosmetic

  • Photoageing
  • Fine wrinkling
  • Skin glow and rejuvenation
  • Oily to rough skin
  • Actinic keratosis

4. Miscellaneous

  • Keratosis pilaris
  • Macular amyloidosis
  • Dilated pores
  • Seborrheic keratoses

Contraindications

  • Active bacterial, viral and fungal infection and open wounds
  • Oral isotretinoin use within the past three months
  • Pregnancy and breast feeding
  • History of keloid formation
  • History of taking oral contraceptive and photosensitive drugs
  • Unrealistic patient expectation
  • Uncooperative patient, eg. Patient is careless about sun exposure or application of medicine
  • For medium depth and deep peels, history of abnormal scarring, atrophic skin and isotretinoin use in the last six months.

How to choose a patient:

A patient should be chosen depending upon 4P’s:

P – Pathology

P – Point of depth required

P – Patients skin

P – Previous peeling agents

Newer peels:

Many peels like mandelic acid, kojic acid, lactic acid, citric acid and many more have been introduced in the market which are also available in combination. These peels are not only more skin friendly but also more patient friendly. They have buffering agents like licorice extract and willow bark extract to minimize irritation to skin and antioxidants to infuse the skin with restorative nutrients. The change in the skin often occurs at cellular level and are not apparent to the naked hence making it more popular amongst busy patients who are seeking effective treatments quickly with little or no downtime.

Benefits of chemical peels:

The skin becomes noticeably smoother and rejuvenated.

  • It reduces pigmentation, improves dull and uneven skin tone, reduces signs of photoagaeing, acne and enlarged pores.
  • Removes dead and damaged skin cells and improves skin texture
  • Helps in removal of tan
  • Skin becomes brighter and more vivid because chemical peels not only cause re-epithelialization of the epidermis but also collagen remodeling.

Pre peel and post peel precautions:

  • Patient has to be motivated enough to get multiple sittings of the peel ( 4-8, depending on the indication and type of peel) every 2-3 weekly to get the desired result.
  • Patient should not wax, bleach, scrub, shave(the same day) or get any other aesthetic procedure like microdermabrasion, ipl, derma-roller one day before the chemical peel procedure. A gap of at least 7 days before and after the peel should be maintained.
  • Patient should use a mild soap/ non soap cleanser after the peel
  • Broad spectrum sunscreen and moisturizer should be used liberally, at least 2-3 times a day and sun exposure should be avoided.
  • Patient should be strictly prohibited from scratching, picking or scrubbing the skin.

Take home message:

Chemical peeling is a simple office procedure for the treatment of acne, pigmentation, skin rejuvenation and photo ageing. These are not one time procedures but require 6-8 sessions and maintenance peels to achieve maximum improvement and prevent recurrences. The newer peels are safer and effective.

I am 22 years old there is some problem on face that some black spots (masse) arise what I to do.
you can remove black spots on face by using following treatment at home. 1.Take a pinch of turmeric powder and add some lemon juice to it. Mix both the ingredients well and dab the mixture on the black spots. This pack can work very effectively to reduce marks on the skin and the results will be visible on the skin within a week’s time if you use this treatment daily. 2.Prepare a solution for the dark spots with handy items available in home. Take one tablespoon of onion juice, one tablespoon of garlic juice, half tablespoon of vinegar and mix them properly. Apply this combination onto the dark spots and rub for few minutes. Rinse with chilled water after 20 minutes. It is easy to reduce the dark spots gradually by regularly using this mixture. The vitamins and the Sulphur contents of onions and the allicin from garlic have anti-fungal and anti-aging properties and they also soothe the skin.

I have dark spot to my face as well as oily skin. How to get rid of this. Please suggest.
To get rid from dark spots and oily secretion from face follow these methods: • Drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. * Apply rose water on your face daily for 5 minutes. • Use a face pack of fuller's earth (multani mitti) with rose water one time in a day for seven days. It removes toxins from skin. * To control the oily secretion you should maintain your hormonal level. Because imbalance in hormone level causes excessive oil production. Do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. * Take cucumber and papaya pulp. Mix it well and add 1 tablespoon Turmeric. Make a paste and apply it on face and leave it for 15 minutes.

Apply tomatoes to remove blackheads overnight from nose and face Here is the procedure you can follow with tomatoes: The antiseptic properties in the tomato are effective and help in de-clogging your pores to get rid of blackheads. Mesh the tomato and use its juice and peel as a facial treatment to remove blackheads. You have to concentrate on the areas (Nose & Face) where the blackheads are found the most. If possible, let it stay on your face for 2-3 hours. This tomato treatment will dry up blackheads completely. This will make blackheads naturally fall off from the skin surface.

Sir, I am getting hair loss due to that, I got lot of suggestion but no doctor tell me how to prevent hair loss and h...
Hi. It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg, eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin), different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you fit and young! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash.
