Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 4-6 months and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your eye trouble. You could consider using glasses or contact lens. Otherwise you could consider undergoing surgery to remove the power of your glass. Operations done to remove the refractive error (power) of the eyes are known as refractive surgery (lasik). There are certain basic criteria that most patients need to fulfill before they can safely undergo refractive surgery. To enumerate, they are: (1) stability of refraction: the power of the eyes should have become stable for a period of 1.5 years minimum without any change. (2) curvature of the cornea should be tested by a technique which is known as topography. (3) thickness of the cornea should be measured by a test known as pachymetry. The minimum thickness required is 550 microns. (4) dilated retina evaluation: this is one of the most important tests that should be performed by a trained retina specialist. This test helps in detection of any offensive lesion on the central or peripheral retina. In case of any retinal abnormality, these should be treated before undergoing the surgery for number reduction. (5) there should be no pre-existent corneal abnormality. (example: corneal scar, opacity, defect, etc.) another important suggestion is that whenever you go for the assessment (the above mentioned tests), you should discontinue the use of contact lenses at least 4 weeks prior to the assessment. The reason for this being that use of contact lens temporarily alters the contour of the cornea. It takes around 3-4 weeks for the restoration of the original corneal contour after removal of the contact lens. Another important point is that you, as a patient, should be compliant to put post operative medication in your eyes for at least 2 months. There is bound to be some discomfort, watering, foreign body sensation, pain after the surgery in most cases-you should be ready to tolerate that. A leave from work for 7-10 days after the surgery should be generally sufficient. Last but not the least, you should set realistic expectations from this surgery. Though extremely rare, there is a remote possibility that the surgery may need to be repeated. Also, the need for subsequent treatment for the eye may be required. Thus, you should be compliant enough to trust and follow your eye specialist.

If you have been diagnosed as a case of glaucoma, then there is no other option but to continue medication life long. Surgery is indicated only when medical therapy fails, as results are unpredictable. Sorry I have no knowledge of ayurvedic medications. Use any medicine after proper consultation.

My eyes are blinking very fast from sometimes so there will be chances of any serious problem.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
My eyes are blinking very fast from sometimes so there will be chances of any serious problem.
Most abnormal blinking or twitching of the eye clears up quickly , within a few hours of when the symptoms appear. Similarly, if the eye feels tired or dry or the eyelid feels heavy, the problems usually go away quite quickly. If the blinking or eyelid twitching does not respond to treatment or is continuously blinking for a few days, one possible cause is an eye dystonia (the medical term for this is Blepharospasm). Symptoms include increased blinking and involuntary closure of the eyelids. Also sometimes the eye feels tired or dry or the eyelid heavy. The symptoms of eye dystonia vary and may be one or more of the following: Excessive / uncontrollable blinking Twitching around the eyes where the twitching does not go away Dry or gritty eyes, but where the treatment for dry eyes does not work Sensitivity to bright lights and sunshine. For some people the flickering of a television or computer screen can also trigger the spasms The eyelids feel heavy frequently or the eyes feel tired and these feelings don't go away. Symptoms may become more obvious and troublesome when tired, reading, stressed, driving, or around bright lights and sunshine, or in windy or dusty environments. Eye dystonia commonly appears in people between the ages of 50 and 70 but does sometimes affect younger people. It is one form of dystonia – a condition that causes uncontrollable and often painful muscle contractions believed to be as a result of incorrect messages from the brain to the muscles. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder Homoeopthic medicine GELSEMIUM 30 ( Dr Reckeweg) Drink 1 drop direct on tongue evert 1-3 hrly depending upon frequency of blinking eyes. If problem persists even after usage of this medicine for 5 days, consult a Neurologist

I have been suffering from the problem of myopia. What are the reasons behind it and remedies for it.
Hello, there are many causes for myopia like increase in eyeball size, change in shape of cornea, increase in curvature of lens etc. There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 21 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

I am 32 yrs, I hve eyes problem, had faced from last 8 months. My eyes getting tired frequently, redness, what can I do.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

I am 32 yrs, I hve eyes problem, had faced from last 8 months. My eyes getting tired frequently, redness, what can I do.
Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Other potential causes of eye redness include: • Colds or allergies . • Acute glaucoma: A sudden increase in eye pressure that is extremely painful and causes serious visual problems. This is a medical emergency. The more common form of glaucoma is chronic and gradual. • Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. So,visit a local eyespecialist. The diagnosis of your problem in eyes can only be made by local examination of eyes

Hi, Photophobia is a symptom of abnormal intolerance to visual perception of light. As a medical symptom, photophobia is not a morbid fear or phobia, but an experience of discomfort or pain to the eyes due to light exposure or by presence of actual physical sensitivity of the eyes, though the term is sometimes additionally applied to abnormal or irrational fear of light such as heliophobia. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Argentum Nitricum 30/ 3 times a day for 4 weeks. Revert.

Here are some tips to manage cataracts

Tips to manage Cataracts

Hi! I’m Dr. Rajeev. I’m a Senior Consultant in Glaucoma Cataract and Defect Surgery.
Today, I’m going to inform you about Cataracts. Cataract is a condition wherein, there is a opacity in the normal crystalline lens.
The normal lens of the eye is transparent. Any opacity in the eye is called as cataract. Cataract is a word derived from an Egyptian word which means water fall. The fogginess of the waterfall is what a cataract means.
The most common cataract that we come across is called as senile cataract. It is easily treated. The cause of easily treated cataract is multifactorial. There is no single cause attributed to the cataract.
All cataracts may not be operated. Any cataract that affects the normal visual functioning is to be operated. There is no medical treatment for the cataracts.

Cataracts can easily be treated with surgery which is called as phacoemulsification or which involves giving a small incision in the cornea, in cornea and in which we cut and suck the cataract with the help of a pro and implant a lens in the space. It can be done under topical anesthesia or without injections and the patient starts seeing within the days’ time.
Post operatively, some medications are prescribed some medications are given which need to be taken for two to four weeks. Glasses can be prescribed after four weeks and you can resume your normal functioning within a day’s time. There are special lenses; there are wide range of lenses available for cataract surgery. This can be spherical, toric and multi-purpose lenses.

You can discuss it with your doctors depending on your need, he’ll prescribe what you want and if you want any further information about cataract, you can talk to me on Lybrate or you can search me online through Lybrate.
