Stammering can be made lesser only and only by Speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, I'd suggest you to visit a Psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it. Hope your query is answered. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health.

General Physician,
Steps for Keeping Your Voice Healthy Drink plenty of water. Moisture is good for your voice. ... Try not to scream or yell. ... Warm up your voice before heavy use. ... Don't smoke. ... Use good breath support. ... Use a microphone. ... Listen to your voice. Begin with the solfege symbol "do" while singing the pitch. Hold out this note to the extent of your comfort. Then, sing and signal the note "re" while holding it out. Then, go back down and sing the note "do."

I have a national concert (a series of shows) in less than a weeks time. I have been practising hard for the same suddenly as the day is approaching my voice is sounding more and more strained and even flat at times. I cannot sing in the scale I started with and with even an hour of singing my voice starts to feel sore and tends to break. There is no vibrato at all. I have tried gurgling with salt water and also tried taking steam. What can I do to keep my voice in place for the show next week?

Hello because you have been over using your voice this symptom occurred. It is common problem seen in professional voice users due abuse/misuse of voice. Follow these simple things it will help you - drink lot of water (keep a bottle of warm water take sips in between) - avoid straining voice - take voice rest as much as possible - avoid dairy products for sometime -avoid sour foods - do some vocal exercises.

I do not have a speech therapist in my locality. I stammer very badly, I cannot communicate normally with people. I even cannot say my name. Can anyone tell me home remedies to cure stammering?

Stuttering treatment procedures is taken more than 1 month. Do breathing exercises 4-5 times in a day. Speak slowly with others like prolongation of each word and letter so it can be slowly stop but definitely you need to be monitor by Speech Therapist. Thank you.

My child is 5 years old. His speech is not clear yet and he is not able to speak clearly. Should I see a speech therapist. Can this treated at home?

MASLP
Speech Therapist, Hyderabad
Consult a speech pathologist for assessment of speech & language skills. If only clarity i. E speech intelligibility is an issue or there is any lag in language needs to be confirmed. Treatment approach depends on severity of problem. Remedial measures will be discussed after diagnosis and frequency, duration of speech therapy needed will be estimated.
