lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. In a person with hypothyroidism, there is always a possibility of having high prolactin. So it is better to get that tested. Secondly TSH should be maintained <3 mU/L to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Since there is no mention about your current TSH level it is difficult to know whether hypothyroidism is well controlled or not. Uncontrolled hypothyroidism will give rise to more of prolactin levels. Thanks.

Best Post Workout Foods!

8 best post workout foods you should add to your diet regimen

Everyone wants to look good, which is why they sweat their body out in the gym every day. If you are a fitness freak you must have heard about the 70: 30 ratio, which revolves between your workout sessions and your diet. Nutrition experts say that it is your diet that plays 70% of the role in getting the results you desire while the rest 30% is of course played by the regular workouts you do in the gym. When you workout, you not only lose fat but a significant amount of muscle too. Losing the non-essential fat is what everyone wants, but muscle loss is something not advisable. In order to get optimal results, consuming the necessary macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, and good fats) after a workout session is important. When you exercise, your body consumes energy from the food you’ve eaten recently, and then it breaks down glycogen (the storage form of glucose in your body). Here are those eight essential foods that will help to complete your post-workout dietary requirements:

Here are some healthy and protein rich foods that will help to complete your post-workout dietary requirements:

1. High-protein oats

A mix of oats and whey protein has been considered the bodybuilding staple. Half a cup of rolled oats with 1 to 2 scoops of whey protein with some fruits, almonds, or natural sweetener makes a proper proportion of complex carbohydrates and proteins for those who are on building lean mass.

2. Protein shakes

Whey protein with some add-ons such as peanut butter, fruit, or skimmed milk is considered one of the essential post-workout meals especially for those who those lift weights.

3. Sandwich wraps

Sandwiches made with multigrain bread are loaded with wholesome carbohydrates. You can add whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, beans or pasta, etc. To these sandwiches to make them all the more tasty and nutritious.

4. Eggs

Eggs–scrambled, hard-boiled, half-boiled, or just raw– provide us with good amounts of protein that our body requires after a strenuous workout session.

5. Milk and banana

Milk and banana are rich in carbohydrates and proteins; the two essential macronutrients required by the body. Additionally, banana also consists of potassium that improves the blood circulation.

6. Grilled chicken breast with roasted vegetables

While grilled chicken breast gives you protein, vegetables such spinach, broccoli gives you fibre and carbohydrates.

7. Sweet potato with broccoli and cashews

If you are on a high-carb day, or your trainer has asked you to consume a good quantity of carbohydrates for a day, this meal is a perfect combination of complex carbohydrates for you.

8. Lentils and chickpeas

Who said only non-vegetarian food can give you the required amount of protein? a bowl full of boiled lentils and chickpeas is a treat for vegetarians. This vegan-friendly food offers the protein your muscles need.

Ever had that moment where you wonder if you smell, well, not so great? It happens. But you can make body odor go away. Try these six tips. 1. Keep Yourself Squeaky Clean Shower at least once a day and you'll wash away sweat as well as reduce the number of bacteria on your skin. Sweat by itself is virtually odorless. But when microscopic bacteria that live naturally on your skin mix with sweat, they multiply quickly and raise quite a stink. So washing thoroughly, especially areas prone to sweating, can reduce body odor. If you sweat normally, you might have more of a problem with body odor than people who sweat too much. That's because, when people sweat excessively, the sweat tends to wash away the odor-causing bacteria. 2. Use Antibacterial Soap Choose an antibacterial bath soap. Washing thoroughly with an antibacterial soap bar will reduce the bacteria count, in turn reducing the odor. Look for the words "antibacterial" on the soap's packaging. 3. Towel Off Thoroughly Once you've showered, be sure you dry yourself completely. Towel off and make sure you dry any areas where you sweat a lot. If your skin is dry, it's harder for bacteria that cause body odor to breed on it. 4. Apply "Industrial Strength" Deodorants or Antiperspirants Once you are clean and dry, use a strong deodorant or antiperspirant on your underarms. While deodorants do not prevent sweating, they mask the smell of bacteria on your skin. Antiperspirants contain aluminum chloride, a chemical that reduces sweating, and often also contain a deodorant. Stronger deodorants and antiperspirants are available without a prescription. Look for products that say on the label they are higher strength due to ingredients. If you think you need even more help, you may want to ask your doctor about prescription antiperspirants. Apply the deodorant or antiperspirant twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. 5. Keep Your Wardrobe Squeaky Clean Change clothes often when you're sweating heavily. Fresh clothes help keep body odor down. Be sure to change your socks as well, especially if you tend to have foot odor. Use deodorant powders in your shoes, replace insoles frequently, and go barefoot if possible. 6. Cut Out or Cut Down "Offensive" Foods or Drinks What you eat affects your body odor. Foods that tend to make you sweat more, such as hot peppers or other spicy foods, might also contribute to body odor. And the aroma of foods such as onions or garlic can be carried in the sweat, making you smell bad. Drinks with caffeine or alcohol may also cause you to sweat more.

IVF- 3 Reasons To Go For It

IVF- 3 Reasons To Go For It

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure that side-steps the sexual act of conceiving and helps infertile couples, conceive a biological child. It involves the manual process of fertilization by combining an egg and sperm in the laboratory and then implanting the embryo into the female to impregnate her.

The inability to give birth through the natural way is caused due to complications like: blocked fallopian tubes, unexplained infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS, endometriosis: where parts of the womb lining grow out of the womb, premature ovarian failure and so on.

If you or your partner is having trouble conceiving, you should opt for in vitro fertilization. It holds benefits like-

1. High success rate: Women who underwent in vitro fertilisation using fresh embryos of their own fresh eggs, the projected live birth percentage was 32.2% for those under 35 years, 27.7% for women aged between 35 and 37 years, lowering to 5.0% in 43 to 44 year olds and 1.9% for ages above 45. It has been proved that a female’s ability to conceive decreases with age. If infertility is detected at a younger age, the process of IVF is highly advantageous and successfully results in childbirth.

2. Proven track record: Technology has come a long way since the first baby via IVF Louise Brown was born in 1978 using a natural IVF. Medical techniques have advanced to create safer and successful treatment. The usage of the safest forms of IVF with low drug regimens today, have prevented side effects such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

3. Harvests multiple eggs: If you are planning to have more than one child, via IVF you can freeze multiple eggs for future use. Unused or spare embryos can be donated to medical organisations for research purposes or to another couple willing to have a child.
IVF has proven successful in giving couples a wholesome and happy life. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an IVF Specialist.

Functional Abdominal Pain - The Best Way To Manage It!

Functional Abdominal Pain - The Best Way To Manage It!

In most cases, pain anywhere in the body can be explained as a symptom of some other problem, but sometimes, there is no reason for abdominal pain. This type of pain is known as chronic functional abdominal pain. This is a gastrointestinal disorder that cannot be explained through X-ray or laboratory findings. It can be triggered by altered sensitivity to nerve impulses in the brain and gut. People suffering from this condition are often so debilitated by the pain that it becomes the central focus of their life.

This condition cannot be cured, but with proper treatment, it can be managed so that it does not affect the quality of your life. The aim of treatment for this condition is to control the symptoms and improve functioning. When it comes to treating this condition, the patient’s relationship with his or her doctor plays an important role as the condition cannot be proven through any form of testing and it has a great psychological effect on the person. Regular checkups are also a key to managing this condition effectively.

The first step towards achieving this is to identify possible emotional and situational triggers. Maintaining a journal that records these experiences can help with this. Further treatment is usually either through psychological treatment or antidepressants.

Psychological treatment is based on the understanding that the brain can block pain by diverting attention elsewhere. Nerve impulses that travel from the abdomen to the brain must pass through a type of ‘gate’ that is controlled by nerve impulses generated by the brain. When these impulses close the gates, pain is blocked while when these gates are open, the pain can be magnified. Psychological treatment for chronic functional abdominal pain can be in the form of relaxation techniques, imagery, hypnosis and cognitive behavioral therapy. While relaxation techniques such as meditation and hypnosis help a person shift focus from the pain, cognitive behavioral therapy teaches a person how to change thoughts and perceptions in order to control the pain.

Antidepressants can also act as pain relievers. This form of medication stimulates the production of brain signals that close the ‘gates’ of nerve transmissions. This blocks the pain but can take several weeks to be effective. Some people may experience side effects such as drowsiness and nausea and hence should never be taken without a doctor’s supervision. In some cases, antidepressants may also be combined with cognitive behavioral therapy or medication to regulate bowels. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gastroenterologist.

1) up the ambiance what your surroundings look like can play a role in how much you feel like having sex. Are the lights blaring? is the bedroom a disaster? dim the lights, put on some sexy music and remove the piles of clothes from the bed. It's hard to feel romantic in the midst of a messy room. 2think about comfort like ambiance, comfort is another simple yet sneaky factor in how you feel about sex. Being too hot or too cold can be an instant turn-off. Close or open windows, adjust the heat or air conditioning and you may feel a bit more in the mood for love. 3minimize distractions it can be hard to get in the mood for sex when your phone keeps beeping to let you know you have a text or new email. Put your phone away or turn it off (or hide it) so you're not wondering who's trying to get in touch when you should be focused on being touched. 4de-stress together after a long day at work or at the end of a stressful week, it can be understandable that you don't feel like getting frisky. A good remedy for this is to de-stress together, which can be a good way to reconnect while easing you into the idea of sex. Take a hot bath together, have him give you a massage or even go for a long walk after dinner to unwind before getting into bed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it will be to get in the mood. 5do something to feel sexy whether it's putting on your favorite lingerie, listening to a specific album or song, lighting candles or strutting your stuff in a little black dress and sky high heels, do something that makes you feel sexy and confident if you're having trouble getting in the mood. By making an effort to feel sexier, you'll be much more likely to get into the right frame of mind required for an enjoyable sexual experience -- meaning one that's fun and satisfying for both of you. Use of stimulant decreases the symptoms to a much good effect and if we don't give stimulant medication there will be more of conduct disorder and progress in disease and for side effects we have to monitor the person and advice them accordingly and enlarged uterus can cause bladder prolapse as its an anatomical variation.

Since you are not married and unless you are sexually active no need to worry about the white discharge. Some amount of discharge is normal. If it is associated with itching, smelling and bloodstained then it will require treatment. You can try a deworming course.

Dr. Sapna Zarwal Tells You How To Improve Your Bed-time Routine

M.Sc - Applied Psychology
Psychologist, Delhi
Dr. Sapna Zarwal Tells You How To Improve Your Bed-time Routine
You might have a wonderful morning routine to keep you healthy. However, do you know what really determines health is also your bed time routine? Each night you end one day and stand at the brink of starting a new one. It is therefore crucial how you organize your bed time.

Here are 7 things to adopt for your bed time-

1) Plan for next day: Preparing in advance always gives you more time and leaves you stress free. Things like looking for keys, deciding what to wear etc make you late and add to your morning stress. Prepare also for breakfast or what to cook the next day. Planning at night doesnt take much time and makes your next day start on a good note.

2) Shut out the buzz: Most of us say goodnight to family and head to bed only to spend the next hour checking Facebook and social media. Or you end up watching a funny video or movie late into the night. If you keep yourself distracted, you can't go off to sleep early or get quality sleep. The light from your gadget's screen can be harmful and stress inducing. It is best to give yourself an hour away from your mobile phone or other gadgets before you sleep.

3) Write a 'Thank-You' Diary: There are many ways to become a more positive person and the best is to have appreciation. Try finding out that 1 thing (more is better) that you are thankful for. Do it everyday. This practice right ahead of your sleep time calms you down, makes you feel happy, satisfied and goes on a long way in contributing to a heathy lifestyle.

4) Stretch it out: Like most people do you also have a job where you keep sitting for long hours? Stretching really works, it helps lengthen tendons and muscles and can reduce the frequency and severity of cramps ensuring you get a better night's sleep.

5) Try meditating: Our work life has become ever so demanding, we are constantly bombarded with information via the television, social media, the internet, friends and work which results in stress and anxiety! Few minutes of meditation before bed, slows down your brain activity which results in a deeper and more peaceful sleep. You will wake up feeling well-rested, energized and ready to take on the day!

6) Book by your side: Reading before bed is has amazing benefits. Firstly, it calms the nerves by eliminating excess sound and vision stimulus (exactly the opposite of what you get from watching television!). It helps you to wind down and sleep better, it also improves brain function, your memory and the thinking process overall.

7) Sleep is crucial: Foremost is to simply make sleep a priority. It is not as simple as it sounds. Sleep deficiency directly relates to increased stress, weight gain and productivity loss. Going to bed late and managing with 5 or 6 hours sleep sets a bad tone for your day.

Your happiness and general wellbeing is controlled by how relaxing you make your bed time.
