My son is 3.7 years old and having large vsd. And doctor said he is not opera-table so tell me what I have to do?

Hello large vsd can lead to pulmonary hypertension. In case of even large vsd with pulmonary hypertension I recommend to go for surgery till 9 months to 1 year of age. Till this age the pulmonary hypertension is usually reversible and improves over a period of time. After that one should go for o2 study or cath study before labelling the vsd as inoperable. I have seen many a case in which surgeons have refused to operate even when operability is there. I shall be better able to help you out if you send me the echo report or cath study if done. Regards.

What is tha difference between symptoms of a heart attack in women versus a heart attack in men ?
Not much but women have more tolerance to pain, heart attack pain can be confused with acidity by them and there is a delay in taking women to a hospital suspected of a heart attack. Typical symptoms of heart attack are chest pain on left side radiating towards left arm.

You did not mentioned exactly if you are still continuing treatment! when you began this treatment? it could possibly be a side effect of same. If so, I would expect them to gradually settle as your body hormones equalise. However, it is worth getting your blood pressure checked if it has not already been recently and your doctor should be keeping an eye on your thyroid levels by doing regular blood tests too. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor rather than leaving them, since all these symptoms should always be checked out if they are an unusual occurrence in someone.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area.

Hi sir/mam. I am Rahul. Age-26 years. I take chlorthalidone 12.5 mg and my bp is under control. I was thinking about starting with cholecalciferol 400IU daily as a preventive measure for osteoporosis. My question is will vit D3 cause over calcium build up in serum as calcium buildup is a side effect of thiazide diuretics? I was also thinking about starting magnesium glycinate due to its high bioavailability at 100 mg dose. Shall I start with Mg?

Heart disease or cardiovascular disease is an umbrella term that encompasses a variety of heart related ailments including angina, coronary artery disease, pulmonary stenosis, irregular heartbeat as well as heart failure and cardiac attacks, among many others. Training the heart to pump blood in a better fashion when one is suffering from such conditions, is the cornerstone of managing cardiovascular ailments. The exercises for this usually revolve around strengthening the heart and its various parts. Tai chi is an ancient chinese form of energy flow exercises that can help patients suffering from heart or cardiovascular diseases. Let us see how.

Non vigorous: it is a medically proven fact that non vigorous exercises form an important part of managing the heart in such ailments. This is one of the most important rehabilitation elements for such patients. This kind of exercise usually involves movements like walking and even other mild forms of exercise. Tai chi is one such form of breathing and motion.

Muscular strength: this mind body exercise is a traditional one that can benefit the aerobic capacity of the patient and create a basis for building the muscular strength in the area.

Hypertension: high blood pressure is one of the most common problems experienced by patients who are suffering from any cardiovascular ailment. With the help of tai chi, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels have shown marked improvement. This is due to the uptake of oxygen in this resistance based, mild exercise which does not put undue pressure on the heart.

Diabetes: diabetes mellitus is another common side effect or even cause of cardiovascular diseases. For many patients, both the ailments go hand in hand. With the help of tai chi, the patient can show remarkable improvement in the blood sugar level as well. This also helps in losing some amount of weight even as the tai chi practitioners are encouraged to make dietary changes.

Balance: tai chi helps in attaining a certain balance and poise that is required for the constant cleansing of toxins from the body and its various organs. In this way, tai chi actually works as a wholesome lifestyle moderator as well.

Breathing: in tai chi, the practitioner is asked to focus on one's breath. This will deeply enhance the way we take and use oxygen within the system, which in turn has a highly beneficial effect as far as heart diseases go. This effect is also known as meditation in motion.

Practicing tai chi is beneficial for good health and potentially fatal ailments like heart disease. Remember to ask your doctor whether or not you can try out a new form of exercise before you start.

A decade aho my heart doc had stated that a few beats missing or actually extra beats are no big deal and compared it with greying of hsir with age. Need assurance that I am ok.
