I am 23 year old male. I am suffering from eye burning since last 15 - 20 days and my eyes got red. I have to spend my most of time in front of Laptop. Please suggest me something.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Eye burning/redness is due to eye straining due to excessive usage of laptop. The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

I am myopic with power of -3 in both eyes .I am 22 year old. Initially 1 year before power was -1.5 in both eyes I prefer to remove the glasses while studying (reading books) Is it fine to remove glasses while reading or my power will increase due to it.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
You have to wear glasses while doing work or reading and also consider LASIK surgery for you to permanently remove the spectacle.

Sir one of my friends said me that I hv squint eye (strabismus) it's not even recognised by my parents or even my relatives. My friends says you had this problem some times. I also noticed some problems in the photographs of mine. Pls help anyone. I am mentally depressed. . One of friend is joking at me. How to make sure that I hv strabismus? Can it be overcome by any exercise? Or surgery needed?

MS - Ophthalmology, FICO, FRCS - I & II
Ophthalmologist, Mathura
Dear lybrate-user you need complete eye check up to know if there is real squint or sometimes there is apparent or pseudo squint. You need not worry about pseudo squint but if it is real squint then do not take lightly and get through eye check up. There are various types of squint and investigations are required. Some squints are corrected by glasses and eye exercises only others need surgery. If you need any clarification you can ask further.

Hi, I am madhu. For wedding I saw a girl her father is facing blind for childhood. If I marry her. Do the zentics follow to my upcoming children. It's may be a personal question. But it's 100 years life questions.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hello lybrate-user. Color blindness tends to occur due to a variety of reasons. Let me enumerate in brief: (1) color blindness since birth/ childhood is more likely to be hereditary and likely to be transmitted. (2) swelling/ lesion in the brain or along the pathway of the optic nerve. This could occur due to injury, tumor, infection in the brain. (3) raised intra-ocular pressure could cause color vision defect. Thus, it is important to identify the cause of color blindness. Certain causes are hereditary and get transmitted to the next generation whereas others are not. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care-regards.

In my left eye foreign particle has fall, please could you tell me how to take off?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear lybrateuser, - Wash your eye with plain water for 2-3 min, open it wide with your hand & try to splash water on it with the other hand - if it is still not removed then take a small cotton piece roll it & wet it with water, with the pointed end try to remove the particle while widening the affected eye with one hand, seeing in a mirror & try to remove with the other hand - if some help is there then tell the person to look in the eye & remove the particle - if still problem is there then consult a doctor.

I'm 25 years old My eyes are getting red during bike riding and drinking water. Mostly in left eye Please tell me the reason and solution thank you.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop (refresh tears) along with an anti-histamine eye drop (olopat eye drop). (3-4 times daily) hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

I want to get rid of my spectacles, Power is -3.5. Is laser a solution? I use specs regularly.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.
