I have a astama. Please give me some health tips.

MD, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,
Asthma tips dos consume healthy diet, include fresh vegetables and fruits. Manage your weight and restrict the intake of calories. People who are obese are more likely to have more severe asthma symptoms. Stress quickly depresses the immune system. Learn to manage stress in personally effective ways. Follow an? early-to-bed, early-to-rise? routine. Add a little dried ginger powder to your milk, and fresh ginger to your meals. Try to get some fresh air and sunshine each day. Exercise boosts the immune system but do it in moderation. don? ts avoid smoking. Smoking always makes asthma worse. Avoid strenuous exercise avoid sleeping during day time. Avoid exposure to rain, humidity, dust and pollens. Avoid consuming bananas, citrus fruits, ice-cream, cold drinks and fried foods. If you are allergic to specific food, better to avoid it. Last but not least, take ayurvedic tablets to enhance immunity and cure asthma.

My sister is a 24 year old. It happened for her to stay in hostel .after few days her friend is diagnosed with tuberculosis. So are there any chances of my sister being affected, though she has no symptoms now. Please advise.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
around 40 percent of Indian population is carrying TB infection but only few get disease with this infection and these 40% population have a life time risk of about 10 % to get this disease, so even if she has been exposed to TB patient and has got the infection then also to become diseased the chances are only 10% in life time. so donot worry and tell her to stay happy. but whenever some one gets TB symptoms the patient should get it checked so that disease can be treated at an early stage

I have sinus problem, for it I use otrivin Adult it open my nose in a second, but I want to get rid from it permanently, as now our Ramadan are going to start, we cannot use Ortavin, but without it it would be a get problem for me, so please would anyone recommend me what should I do, should I go for laser laser operation or what else.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Otrivin nasal drops are nothing but poisonous for your nose mucosa this again will lead to sinusitis further, sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusitis. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically. Everything is explained in this, I hope this will benefit you.
