Its difficult to stop breast feeding so easily, just try to feed him top milk / bottle milk. Give more of solids. It may take time to completely stop breast feeding.

Do Not eat Your Kids Leftovers

Women's day special
A must follow rule for moms of young toddler - please don't eat leftovers

One rule that all you moms absolutely must follow is to never finish up the food your child has left. Eating the food left over on your child’s plate is a very common phenomenon and this leads to the mom eating double and gaining unnecessary weight.

That food is designed for your kid and is rich in calories, fats which are required for their growth.

Eating even smaller amounts of foods over a period of time can result in substancial weight gain, let it go in the dustbin and please do not treat your stomach like one.

Diabetes - 3 Myths Decoded!

Diabetes - 3 Myths Decoded!

Diabetes is something which has become so common over the past few decades and this is said to be a cause of worry as most people don't understand how to prevent and manage it. This has led to some myths, gaining more than their fair share of popularity. So, wouldn’t it be a good idea to get to know a little more so as to separate the myths from the facts?

  1. Weight & watch: One of the most common myths when it comes to diabetes is the belief that a person is going to have his or her life adversely affected if he or she is overweight. While it is true that being overweight happens to be one of the risk factors related to diabetes, it is important to keep in mind the fact that there are other risk factors which are responsible, as well. Some of these factors are age and family history, as well as the ethnicity of the person. Taking this into account, it should not come as too much of a surprise to know that there are quite a few people who are not overweight, but are still fighting diabetes.
  2. Packaged tricks: Considering the rise in the number of people who are suffering from diabetes, this has led to food being marketed specifically for their consumption. However, in reality, whatever represents a healthy diet is sufficient for a person who is diabetic. So a diet which does not have a high amount of saturated fats and trans fats and does not go overboard with starch and sugar, but features a fair amount of lean protein works well too. All the fancy diabetic food, which a person buys, is only likely to drive a great hole in the wallet and not have any additional health benefits. Therefore, the extra spending is nowhere close to being worthwhile and should be avoided.
  3. Fruits punch: Many people are of the opinion that it is the processed and sugary food items, which cause diabetes and this is true to a significant extent. However, some people are of the view that since fruit is natural, diabetics can eat as much of it as they like. This is where the thinking gets dangerous. Some fruits are rich in carbohydrates and so it should be consumed in a reasonable quantity, as part of the daily meal plan. After all, too much of any good thing is bad! If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an endocrinologist.

Post vaccination lump is usually due to dpt and sometimes it takes long time to resolve. If associated with pain, redness it may be an abscess. In that case it needs excision.

Only thing I want to add is that after refrigragion you can thaw the milk by keeping the katori in lukewarm container. And for two days you should express the milk and empty the breast whenever possible just to maintain adequate milk supplies.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Describe more. He may need antibiotics and tests. You can ask privately in the site. Now you give wikoryl syrup 5 ml twice and otrivin nasal drops and if fever is there calpol syrup 1`25 ( to give medicine it is necessary to know his weight, your question is not sufficient and I assume he has reasonably normal weight. When you ask, give all details.

My son is 21 mnth old and he is too weak. Please suggest me for healthy diet and some healthy drink.
Feed your some small portions in every two hours. Give high nutritious foods like milk / paneer / cheese / eggs etc. Also give lot of fruits and almonds, cashew etc. Do not force when the child is not in a mood. Sing songs and tell stories while feeding to keep him engaged. Give food in different forms. For example milk can be given like - banana shake, badam milk, keser milk, or curd blended with fruits etc. Make food times as happy times and he will be fine.

Ms. lybrate-user If your baby is just 4 Kg at 3 month of age with normal birth wight, its definitely abnormal and he is suffering from malneutrition. Probable reason behind that is faulty feeding. Firstly stop cow milk immediately and start standard formula milk in proper dilution. Continue breast sucking. It can enhance milk output. Stop bottle and use spoon and kotori with proper hygiene. Burp after each feed properly. Do not let your child malnourished, its developing phase for brain also.
