Polycystic Ovarian Disease

Polycystic Ovarian Disease results from the disorder more commonly known as PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. A syndrome is starkly different from a disease, for the former entails a set of symptoms usually occurring in concurrence, while the latter means a particular biological condition with an identifiable reason behind it.

A syndrome solicits your concern and forethought in order to eliminate or at least control the chances of an underlying disease. Trigger to a syndrome is undetectable and hence fighting it efficiently is fairly problematic. It is rare to find adolescent girls without hormonal problems.

Hormonal imbalances are just too common to be a novel topic any further. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is faced due to imbalances in hormone secretions. It refers to the development of multiple cysts in your ovary. This condition usually affects women falling within the age group of 15 to 50. Eight among ten women, at a given point of time, are reported with PCOS. Symptoms of PCOS, when neglected, can lead to Polycystic Ovarian Disease. If you have been facing similar health issues, it is advisable to undergo a check- up and get diagnosed at the earliest possible.

Symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Disease

  1. A receding hairline or increased hair fall can lead to thinning of scalp hair. Such a sign should not be taken lightly as it could be indicative of Polycystic Ovarian Disease.
  2. Extremely painful menstruation, irregular periods or prolonged periods with heavy bleeding might be reason enough for worrying.
  3. Development of acne could be another sign. Acne is common to girls attaining puberty, but an unprecedented growth should be a matter of concern.
  4. Patchy skin, pigmentation and discoloration of the skin are the other symptoms.
  5. PCOS may also result in continual depression and anxiety.
  6. Obesity is the most commonly noticed symptom. People suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Disease have lower metabolism and thus, reducing weight is an ordeal.
  7. Many women tend to grow thick facial hair or chest hair. Such a condition discourages the person to go out in public. It leads to social ostracizing which further bears severe effects on one's mental health.
  8. PCOS mostly affects women belonging to the childbearing age. As a result of this syndrome, females stop ovulating. Conception becomes extremely difficult as the syndrome may lead to infertility.

Polycystic Ovarian Disease can result in Type 2 diabetes or even cardiovascular problems. If not diagnosed and treated at an early stage, it might lead to ovarian cancer. There is hardly any preventive measure to counter the chances of such a syndrome, but certain alterations in your diet under the guidance of a dietician and regular exercising can improve your health.

In majority of the cases irregular menses are accredited to hormonal imbalance, but in some cases it may be pathological and secondary to some pathology of ovaries mostly. Now if you want to regularized the menses then you must establish permanent balanced, first and this can be achieved only with homoeopathy, because in modern medicine we get only a hormonal support with a very temporary relief. But with homoeopathy you can strike the hormonal balance permanently which later on also give you regular menses even if you stop the medicine.

Hi, I got married 3 years ago. We are planning for children from past 1 year. But unfortunately we got Candida infection (myself diabetic). Since almost 8 months we both suffering with recursive infection. From last 2 months my sugar levels came under control. (HB1AC 6%) and since one month we are not facing any trouble with infection. (CUE of both is normal) Everything is going fine, but yesterday we both visited gynecologist for planning children. So doctor suggested my spouse to go under HSG test, and the test result showed that one of the Fallopian tube was blocked due to infection and there is a chance it may spread to another tube also. And she said blockage is permanent. And chances of getting conceive is just 50%. We both depressed. And further she suggested to go under laparoscopy. 1. Is Fallopian tube blockages are permanent? 2. Candida infection can really cause tube blockage? 3. Is there any chances to clear the blockage? 4. Another doctor suggested us to go under some procedure like injecting semen (do not know the medical terminology) directly when egg released in the normal tube for faster result. Is this procedure available? And suggestible? 5. Is there any chances of messing up with any side effects or health issues with the infection? Please suggest me the solution. And suggest us the best way (with 0% risk, my spouse health is important to me. Any risky procedure I am ready to give up the planning.). Thankyou.

Hi, I got married 3 years ago. We are planning for children from past 1 year. But unfortunately we got Candida infect...
1) answer to your first question is that fallopian tube blockage mostly is non permanent, but in some cases where calcification have taken place it can be permanent, it is due to inflammation of the tubes 2) answer to your second question is Yes candida infection or infection due any any organism will bring about inflammation of the area where it has occurred, you can not be sure that inflammation in the fallopian tube of your wife is due to candida or any other infection 3) answer to your question is yes there are chances of clearing the blockage without surgery as well and that is through alternative medicine like Homeopathy where medicine are given to improve the immune functions of body and eventually which helps the body to kill candida and reduce the inflammation of fallopian tube or any affected area in any case 4) answer to your question is injecting semen procedure is also call IVF (meaning in vitro fertilization) it is not so sure shot process and is quite expensive as well but the technique is non invasive that means very less side effects 5) answer to your 5th question is: if the infection has taken place already that means your immunity is definitely compromised (reduced) that is why this infection has occurred. Having low immunity means any problem may or may not occur and is upto the discretion of lifstyle you have and conditions of hygiene you maintain. So it can not be said, if you do not improve your immunity the external organism will always try to spread, hope I was able to solve your query, I more advise to you is that rather than getting depressed or afraid, take steps to be strong and confident, and alternative medicine are very popular in india so take utilisation of them.

10 Essentials You Need Right After Delivery

10 Essentials You Need Right After Delivery

Everyone has a different idea of what a mother and baby needs in the first few days after childbirth, but some essentials cannot be skipped out on. With that in mind, here are 10 childcare essential you may need right after the delivery.

  1. Nursing pillows: A baby may be small and seem light, but carrying them can put a strain on your arms. Since babies need to be fed very often in their first few weeks, a nursing pillow is a handy thing to have around. This allows you to comfortably support your baby while feeding them.
  2. Breast pump: Though only a mother can produce breast milk, other people can feed this milk to the baby. A breast pump will allow you to express milk at a time convenient to you and store it in bottles to be fed to the baby as needed.
  3. Bottles and nipples: A set of bottles and nipples are must haves for every baby. In their first few weeks, these bottles may be used to store mother’s milk, but as the baby grows, these bottles can also be used to give the baby water.
  4. Pacifiers: A baby who wants to constantly suck on the mother’s nipples may be soothed with a pacifier. This can give the mother some time to rest.
  5. Diapers: For over a year, diapers are a must for every baby. Most mothers choose disposable diapers for their convenience though others may choose cotton wash clothes as well. For the first few weeks, a baby tends to go through 10-12 diapers a day so stock up well.
  6. Bedding: Whether you choose to share your bed with the infant or have him or her sleep in a crib, you will need at least two sets of crib sheets.
  7. Baby bath tub: In their first few days, a baby needs to only be sponged down, but as they grow, regular baths become a necessity. A baby sized bathtub will make it easier to hold the baby while keeping them safe.
  8. Sling: Carrying a baby in your arms all the time is not possible and hence it is a good idea to invest in a sling or front pack. This also keeps the baby close to your body and allows him or her to be soothed by your warmth and heartbeat.
  9. Stroller: Once a child is three months old, he or she can be made to sit upright in a stroller. This gives the mother a little free time and puts less pressure on her back.
  10. Car seat: A car seat if a must have for every baby. You could choose between rear facing car seats of convertible car seats. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Dear lybrate-user! It is nice to know you are concerned about your good health. Daily one hour of brisk exercise (jogging or running), avoiding weight gain, and a healthy diet is good enough to prevent diabetes. A good target is as long as you keep fitting in your college jeans. U will never develop diabetes.

Sexologist,
In early months, even up to 1-2 years, of sexual life many women fail to achieve orgasm. Too much anxiety also is one of the causes. Moreover physical conditions like diabetes, thyroid problem, high prolactin levels etc. Too are often involved, so do blood tests hb, tc, dc, fasting sugar, prolactin, tsh. She will know only when she get it. Also there are medicines which can help if you want then only - ask private question.

1 year is short time. You can still wait for 1 more year with having intercourse around ovulation day. Ovulation happens only on1 day of each cycle. In a woman with regular cycles of 28 days it happens around 14 th day. If getting impatient both of you meet Gynaecologist or infertility specialist.
