Wisdom tooth erupts anytime after 21 years of age. Please take an Xray of the tooth to determine exact position of wisdom tooth. *Sometimes when erupting there can be food accumulation between tooth and gums giving rise to pain. *if the position of tooth is also crooked then pain can arise. Advise extraction please visit dentist for treatment.

Foul odour or halitosis as it is called can be because of plaque or calculus accumulation over teeth but can also occur if your tongue is not clean. Make sure you clean your tongue as well after brushing. Never use metal tongue cleaners. Use a good plastic tongue cleaner. And do not forget to visit your dentist every six months.

Sir, I am suffering from payoriya in about 1 year. I have used many toothpaste but I have no profit from teeth. I am very harassed please tell me best toothpaste and mouthwash. Thanks.

Tooth pest is not the treatment of pyorrhea because it is the medical condition and it has to be treated in that manner only better to see the dentist.

My above teeth area constantly paining after I done toothpaste because may be I injured some area while doing brush hard. What are the remedies or medicine to reduce pain.

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dear lybrate user, rinse your mouth with warm salt water 3-4 times daily to reduce the swelling. Take a pain killer if required. Avoid brushing hard in that area. Buy a soft toothbrush and save your teeth and gums by brushing gently using proper technique.

What can be the best toothpaste and toothbrush should be used to cure gum problems.

BDS
Dentist, Raipur
Kindly get scaling done and use gum paint twice daily for 15 days. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. Please use any toothpaste having fluoride content but correct brushing technique is more important than the toothpaste and toothbrush.

5 Habits That Destroy Your Smile:

Advanced Aesthetics, MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist,
5 Habits That Destroy Your Smile:
1. Not flossing
Brushing your teeth twice a day is important, but many patients don't realize that flossing at least once a day is just as critical to achieving—and maintaining—a healthy smile. Flossing removes the cavity-causing bacteria left behind from food particles that get stuck between teeth. "Although bleeding and irritation sometimes can occur when you first start flossing, it's important to keep at it," says Dr. Ghareeb. "Your gums will toughen up and your oral health will be better for it."

2. Brushing too soon after eating
Consuming acidic foods and beverages, such as sports and energy drinks, citrus fruits, wine, and tomatoes, can erode tooth enamel—the glossy outer layer of the tooth. Brushing your teeth too soon after eating and drinking these items can cause more damage because you are essentially brushing the acid into the teeth, not getting rid of it. Instead, you should rinse your mouth with water after consuming acidic foods and beverages and wait at least 30 minutes before brushing your pearly whites!

3. Not replacing your toothbrush often enough
Not only are old toothbrushes ineffective, but they also harbor harmful bacteria that can cause infections. Toothbrushes should be changed every three to four months. "It's also important to change your toothbrush after you've had a cold," says Dr. Ghareeb.

4. Excessively bleaching your teeth
Overzealous bleaching can cause your teeth to look unnaturally white and increase tooth sensitivity. Before using an at-home bleaching product, talk to your dentist. "He or she can advise you on proper use of these products as well as which type of bleaching system will provide you with the best results," says Dr. Ghareeb.

5. Using a hard-bristled toothbrush
A hard-bristled toothbrush coupled with an aggressive brushing technique can cause irreversible damage to your gums. Use a soft toothbrush and gently brush your teeth at a 45-degree angle, in a circular motion. Using a back-and-forth, sawing motion causes the gums to recede, and can expose the root of the tooth, making teeth extremely sensitive.

Tooth ache may be due to infection, tooth decay, gum problem etc. Anything stuck in the teeth may also cause the problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take magnesia phos 200 twice daily in the morning and evening.

Hi could you please recommend any teeth whitening gels or anything that would help to remove the yellow stains and make teeth white again?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Tooth staining occurs due to oil and turmeric content of food. To prevent staining make a habit of doing gargles everytime you eat something, also do brush regularly (once in the morning before meals and once at night after dinner, add a mouthwash for better oral hygiene. This will keep your teeth shining and whiter always
