During lifetime how much enamel is reduced through brushing say in 10 years how much enamel will going to be removed ...
10 years is very long time and many people who are using hard toothbrushes or apply too much pressure against teeth or both can permanently damage the enamel within one year. Those who visit a dentist regularly and follow the instructions can keep there teeth enamel intact for life. Remember, toothbrushes are to clean the teeth from daily dirt from food stuffs, when people try to polish it, shine it with toothbrushes, they start damaging it.

Stomach acids are necessary for the digestion of food. However, if too much acid develops in the stomach, it can cause acid reflux (heartburn) or a disease called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Obesity and other medical conditions can also lead to increased stomach acid. Management: - Avoid fried, fatty, spicy food, chocolates, tomatoes and citrus fruits. - Eat smaller, more frequent meals. - Give your digestive system an assist from gravity by not eating too close to bedtime. Wait at least 3 hours after eating before you lie down. - Lose excess weight. - Avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages. - Stop smoking. Smoking interferes with digestion and can damage the lining of the esophagus. - Wear loose fitting clothes. Tight waistbands compress the internal organs and may block digestion. - Raise the head of your bed 4 or 5 inches higher than the foot. - Get enough sleep. Try sleeping on your left side. - Avoid stretching or bending after meals. - Chewing your food thoroughly makes it easier to swallow and digest, thus reducing or preventing symptoms of heartburn. - Drink plenty of water. Water has a neutral pH, which can help neutralize stomach acids and help your body absorb nutrients easily.

Hi, my tooth hurts when I walk or while I exercise. But it doesn't when I eat. Kindly suggest what might be the factors.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Kindly clarify whether it is one tooth or the whole mouth pains. In no pain on eating means there is not much damage. If pain persists than contact dental surgeon, he will examine and treat you.

I had RCT for right side lower teeth 5. After one month, I started feeling extreme bad pain which was not fully going even after painkiller. I immediately visited dentist who said a rice size extra small teeth between teeth 4 and 5 is giving me the pain so he extracted that. Next day he released pressure of RCT tooth. It kept paining so today he removed crown and have appointment for tuesday that he will remove RCT material and leave tooth with medicine. Immediately after cap removal, I got a lump behind the teeth which kept increasing in size and right now it's a pea size. I need to understand the reason of this lump which came within last five hours immediately after crown removal. How it will be treated? Do I need to redo RCT or just pus drain or extraction or just antibiotics will help.

Hi lybrate-user, I can understand you had gone through a lot, but don't worry this infection is gonna subside. Mostly after root canal treatment a patient complains of pain due to two reasons either failed root canal or food impaction due to defective crown. The way you described the pain, I mean the intensity of pain suggests failed root canal, may be due to missed canal or due to improper sterilisation. This swelling is due to accumulation of pus, and most probably a gingival abcess due to some calculus or the cement with which the crown was fixed has gone in between the gums and teeth. Well xray would have given a clear picture, though I would say go for re-rct with a course of antibiotics. No need to drain the pus, swelling will subside after the course of antibiotic. Hope this helps.
