I am 28 year old male and facing problem of sensitivity in my teeth. I have already taken root canal of the same tooth around 3 months back. Please suggest me any medicine or toothpaste to medicate.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

First is to stop tobacco altogether. You can use mucopain or dologel ointment on ulcer 3-4 times a day. For faster relief you can also start b complex tablets 3 times for 5 days. Completely avoid spicy, oily n hard foods n alcohol (if you drink).

My daughter is of 9 years. She has a swallowing problem. She keeps on chewing her food whatsoever she gets either it's her favorite or not. Her most of the time spends in eating & gets less time for other activities. She speed in her other activities is also slow. I'm very worried about her that how she is going to spend her whole life.

It normally is by habbits c that while eating she is not busy in anything else don't force her to eat let her be at dinning table only while eating and no distractions like tv games, if she doesn't eat don't force she will eat on her own when hungary as a mother I think you will have to have patience, if she has lost weight or inactive then of course you should contact a paediatrician.

How do I keep my teeth white in colour and avoid smelling badly. Even after taking lot of care. Can you please suggest me the better way to avoid bad odour.

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Keeping teeth white naturally requires regular dental check up and proper oral hygiene maintenance. Please remember that the brushing technique is important and not the duration of brushing. Bad breath is due to deposits on teeth, decayed teeth, artificial teeth and different foods that one consumes. Keeping a check on what you eat might help.

Wait for 29-15 days. After healing you can get relief. But if symptoms persist longer then contact the dentist who did extraction. Do warm saline gargle. Rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouth wash.

Teeth Sensitivity is due to many dental problems and it cannot be treated by a toothpaste. Do not rely on toothpastes seen in television adds, they provide only temporary relief and the problem increases. Visit your Dentist !

The tooth that is erupting now is your wisdom tooth. Kindly get an x-ray done of that tooth and if required get it removed. Till then do warm saline rinses and brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene.

Hello doctor I want to ask some thing about teeth problems sir my teeth are very front so what should I do.?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations (Model study, Full mouth & profile x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed / removable braces or surgical correction (Functional or cosmetic). Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry (braces or surgical correction) varies with dentist. If you prefer surgery, it?s a short duration procedure done under general anaesthesia. Recovery time is short with absolutely no pain. However swelling will subside between 5 to 7 days.

Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. . DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

I am 59 years mail suffering from gum pain and swelling on gums. Unable to eat hard food and spicy food. Pls. Advice medicine.

Certified BPS Dentist
Dentist, Trivandrum
It is due to gum infection which is again due to calculus deposit on teeth and into the gums. You have to see a good dentist who will clean the teeth with an ultrasonic scaler or a periodontist who is specialised in gum surgery. You have to take medicines and mouth wash. If you are diabetic please check and report that to doctor. If you have any chewing habits or smoking habits please stop that. Please tell the doctor that you have difficulty in taking spicy foods and hard goods and then he will check the mucosa for any specific diseases.

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Bleeding gum is due to various reasons for example:- -tooth infection -diabetes mellitus -iron overload -malnutrition -harmonal imbalance -use of aspirin and anticoagulants etc. I advice you visit a dentist once in every 3-4 month for plaque removal. Use soft bristle tooth-brush. Use floss twice a day it prevent plaque formation. Tooth paste with triclosan should be used. Use anti-plaque mouthwash two times in a day for 15 days. A balanced healthy diet should be taken.

I'm a 26 year old male and my front 4 teeth are not aligned properly Upper & lower so what kind of braces should I go for and how much time and money will the process take? Http://i. Imgur. Com/cXGb4z4. Jpg.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Howrah
Hello lybrate user, you would definitely need fixed orthdontic therapy to get your teeth aligned. There are various types of braces, starting from metal, ceramic, clear, lingual and more. The treatment cost depends upon the type of braces and the kind of problem you have. You need to visit an orthodontist to know the details. On average the duration of treatment may range from 1 and half to two years.
