I was 82 kg when am in india, after I shifted to gulf in 8 months period my weight is 91. And morning full of gas in stomach. My question is motion is not happening properly. Means when I take some intake of food after little while I go to toilet, may be 2 or 3 times in a day. This problem wasn't there before. I mean once in a day I use to go for toilet now it is splitted. Is that a problem. Any solution for this?

No smoking and alcohol. Avoid outside spicy and fried food. Walk about 3-5 kms daily. There should be gap of 2hrs after dinner and sleep. Small and frequent meals is of help chew your food properly at time of lunch and dinner. Keep your blood sugar controlled. Raise your bed about 4" from headend side. Get your gastroendoscopy done. Tab nexpro-l 1 tab empty stomach.

My father age is 62 years and weight is 61 kg. In blood sugar test fasting sugar was found to be 117 ng (normal level 70-110 ng). What do you suggest, do we have to consult doctor and start medication or by limiting sugar intake in diet and starting more physical activity he can bring down sugar level in normal range? Please advice.

Mr. Lybrate-user, blood sugar fasting 108 to 125 mg/100 ml and pp 141 to 199 mg/100ml is considered as pre- diabetes. There is no drug treatment advised. Diet control, regular exercise, avoiding alcohol and smoking, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), deep fried foods, bakery items, pastries, red meat etc. Diabetes is diagnosed when fasting is >126mg, pp>200 mg.

Marijuana itself has no significant effect on lungs but it is smoked with tobacco which has it's own repercussions. Otherwise, marijuana affects neurochemicals and affects thinking and perception and can lead to mood disturbance, anxiety, obsessions and even psychosis. There is treatment available for cannabis abuse.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. To control blood glucose or your diabetes in addition to appropriate anti-diabetic drugs, diet control and exercise are also needed. Since there is no mention of current blood glucose levels & HbA1c%, plus the drugs being taken with dosage, there is no way to give any opinion. As regards your weight, with 1.83 meters, height your weight is excellent. Your present BMI is only 23.29 kgs/M2, which is what is expected. Reducing the weight to 70 kgs is not required at all. For controlling diabetes, please come in a private conversation with above mentioned details, plus your diet pattern and extent of daily exercise. Thanks.
