Pcod and all the hormonal imbalances can not be cured. They can be just controlled. You can continue these medicine for a long time with blood parameters being monitored. Be conscious about your weight and what you eat.

Tips to Deal with a Patient Recovering from Brain Surgery

Undergoing Brain Surgery can be a very traumatic experience, and it is common for many patients recovering from brain surgery to face depression, spells of dizziness, confusion and weakness post the surgery. It can be very critical that family members and friends talk to the patient and be empathetic towards them.

It takes approximately 12-18 months for the brain to heal after a brain surgery and slowly and gradually the patient will regain all his normal functions and get back to his daily routine. However in that time they need the complete support and understanding of their families, as well may need help from therapists. This will help the patient in gaining back their independence as well as confidence in their abilities.

Here are some tips that will help you deal with a patient recovering from Brain Surgery:

  1. After brain surgery, a person may feel disoriented and have some speech or understanding disability for a while. Family members and friends are advised to take pause when talking to the patient, so that he/she can easily understand the conversation. Speaking slowly is not recommended, as patients may recognize it and have an emotional outburst or feel hurt.

  2. Caretakers and family members should also keep reminding the conversation topic at different points to the patient, so that it is easier for them to participate in the conversation.

  3. Family members should also not react adversely in case of emotional outbursts, instead show love and patience to a person recovering from brain surgery.

  4. Caregivers should make sure that the person recovering from brain surgery gets enough sleep and rest to recuperate.

  5. People interacting with someone recovering from brain surgery should understand that the person's ability to learn and remember will improve daily, and any lapses in attention by the patient are not caused by any act of obstinacy. Your care and understanding will be essential for a person to recover.

  6. Family members should also make sure just to give enough care and not smother the brain surgery survivor. It is essential for them to regain their confidence and a sense of competence.

Family members should take the patient for a neuropsychological examination--after treatment, 6 months later, and a year later to see if they are recovering properly. Caregivers should watch out for emotional outbursts, like rage, uncontrollable laughter, withdrawal and depression. In case of such symptoms it is advisable to take the patient for a check up with medical practitioner. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Dear Lybrate user, Are you taking medicines for your Thyroid problem. If not, consult General Physician/ Endocrinologist for the same. Increase in weight should be evaluated by General Physician. There is possibility of PCOS too. Get Ultrasound of lower abdomen done and consult Gynaecologist. If there is PCOS, treatment for latter is likely to reduce weight and vice versa. If all the investigations are normal, consult Dietitian and physical trainer.

Hi lybrate-user Am not able to understand the test you did. The only way to test if you are pregnant is by Urine at home or lab or Blood test in the lab. If in doubt, please have a proper test before it is too late. If you need help for PCOS, then that is a different situation, and will have to be handled separately. Please get a pregnancy test done and then proceed.

Hello sir my cousin is suffering from hypothyroid and her thyroid level is 8.741 and she is taking thyronome 125 mg earlier she was taking 100 mg same medicine but now doctor has suggest to change the medicine and she is gaining weight alot she is suffering it from last 3 years and she has migraine also sometimes she get faint due pain from migraine Please suggest.

Dear , please specify the levels of tsh. I think what you have mentioned must be the tsh reports. When was it done? if done more than 3 months. Pl. Repeat it. She will need to increase the dose of her medication. Pl. Tell me the weight of your cousin. Will also need to make certain lifestyle changes.

Stretch marks can be reduced by some home remedies too -: 1. Lavender oil: if you notice stretch marks developing on your skin, lightly apply lavender oil over it. Continue doing so until the stretch marks fade gradually. 2. Lemon juice: lemon juice is a good treatment for stretch marks.

Exclusive breast milk for babies from birth to sixth month. From six months onwards in addition to breast milk supplemental feeds like home made semisolid mashed foods like mix of rice pulses, banana, boiled apple, a small piece of biscuit dipped in milk or water can be given. Proper diet and nutrition is very important specially when you are working out. Without proper diet you will not gain muscles and all your exercise will ends in cramps and lean body.

I am giving you a schedule which if followed can be very benificial for new gym goers.whcih are as follows:

Breakfast

7:30 a.m.

1 cup plain cooked oatmeal, 4 large whole eggs, large sliced banana, 1-3 g of HMB (Beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate -- is a naturally produced substance in humans that is used as dietary supplement and as an ingredient in some medical food products)

Mid morning Snack

10:00 a.m.

3-4 slices turkey breast, 2-3 slices whole bread, mustard, lettuce, 2 low fat cheese, A fruit

Lunch

1:00 p.m.

2 cups pasta, 1 cup broccoli, 6 oz. lean ground beef

Midday Snack

3:00 p.m.

2 slices whole wheat bread, ½ avocado, ½ can albacore tuna

Pre- workout

5:00 p.m.

2 slices whole wheat bread, 20 g protein shake (whey or whey/casein) with 3-5 g creatine,  1-3 g HMB, 3-5 g creatine

Post- workout

5:30 p.m.

20-40 g of protein shake(whey or whey/casein) with 3-5 g of creatine, 32 oz. sports drink, 1-3 g HMB, 3-5 g creatine

Dinner

7:30 p.m.

8 oz. chicken breast, 1 cup broccoli, baked sweet potato(large)

Bedtime

10:30 p.m.

1 cup low fat cottage cheese, 2-3 tbsp. peanut butter, 1-3 g HMB

Also note the following -- In case you are not gymming, cut out the calories mentioned here as you probably will never burn them off.

  • Drink a full glass each of water after waking up in the morning, about 15 minutes before each meal, and before and after workouts. DO NOT drink water DURING meals. Try to drink more than 1.5 litres of water every day.
  • Break up your meals into five or more mini meals. For those wanting to shed some pounds, limit each meal to 300 calories for women and 400 calories for men. Breakfast within 30 min after waking up. Plan your meals in such a way that your routine life is not compromised, you stay fresh and energetic throughout the day and you don’t rush for fast food.
  • The key is to increase the intake of protein and complex carbohydrates without increasing fat. Forget the pastries, cakes, burgers, pizza and fries. For an intense workout with weights, try a high protein diet. Whey powder, meat, chicken, eggs, skimmed toned milk, cheese, yogurt, soy milk are rich in protein. These help build muscle mass. Starch rich foods like bread, rice, chapattis, parathas etc. are best before exercise. Post workout, it is best to stick to fruit juices, smoothies and other simple sugar containing food like fruits, bananas etc. All carbohydrates are converted to glucose in the body before any energy can be derived from them. Save your body some effort by eliminating this tiresome process after a grueling gym routine.
  • Write down in your diary any new tips you learnt, any new exercises that you tried and whatever resolutions you want to make for your fitness routine. Track what you eat and the amount of calories it is likely to contain. Put it on paper. This will help you to burn off what you took in.

  1. Increase Vitamin C intake: Vitamin C boosts immunity that helps prevent frequent cough and cold, sore throats and sneezing bouts. Available in the form of delectable oranges, it should definitely be included in the diet.
  2. Include more vegetables in your diet: Summer is the season for a plethora of seasonal green vegetables, which are available fresh. They work wonders on your hair, skin and general health. Legumes too are important as they help prevent heart diseases and even cancerous growths. They are a rich source of potassium, magnesium, vitamins and fibres.
  3. Moderation in diet: During summer, the metabolism of the fast, but too many calories can be difficult for the body to digest. It is important to regulate the intake of sugar and carbohydrates. Digestion and gastric problems are common during summers, therefore it is necessary to cut down on processed food and eat healthy.
  4. Take care of your skin: The skin turns oily and flaky during summers. Dry skin is susceptible to freckles and wrinkles, therefore, constant moisturising and nourishment is of utmost need. A lot of body oils, moisturising lotions and creams are available in the market and must be used according to skin type. Lips become chapped and can even bleed profusely if not tended to at the right time. Therefore the use of lip balms and petroleum jelly is of utmost importance during this time. The use of sunscreen is a must as the ultra violet radiations are extremely harmful for the skin.
  5. Look after your hair: The hair tends to lose its moisture, turn rough and frizzy. Split ends become an incessant problem; dandruff and itchy scalp become annoying problems. You must start using medicated oils and shampoo to prevent further damage.

Apart from the above mentioned tips, one must try and keep warm and protected as much as possible to prevent catching cold and flu. Your developing baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in your uterus, as well as the strong muscles of the uterus itself. Sexual activity won't affect your baby. So it is completely safe to sex during pregnancy.

It cud b. But your symptoms are more suggestive of pms. Wait and watch for your period. If you miss it then go for urine pregnancy test after 3-4 days.
