Hi. I'm suffering from high BP since couple of days, then doctor advised me to avoid salty items as much as you can. Then again visit for 2nd check up after 1 week. If it will continue then you have to take medicine, which I don't want to opt now, because it should be continued then forever. So, please suggest some useful tips for the same to get rid of this as soon as possible. Regards,

Hi.
I'm suffering from high BP since couple of days, then doctor advised me to avoid salty items as much as you can. ...
Hi, lybrate-user. The alternative to medicine is called lifestyle measures, which are as follows. 1. Salt restriction: no added salt, no fried or salty item: daily limit 2.5 gm of sodium. 2. Weight control: by diet and exercise 3. Daily exercise: aerobic or light wt training: daily 30 min. 4. Stop smoking 5. Avoid stress and anxiety 6. Avoid alcohol or atleast moderate intake if you like to drink. 7. Sleep adequately 8. Correct any sleep disordered breathing like snoring 9. Eat healthy balaced diet 10. Avoid pollution if you can do these regularly and persistently then you can control your bp to some extent. Remember your goal should be controlling bp with or without medicines. Thank you and good luck.

1) It is very good that you are doing regular walking as it is good for BP control, also I hope you are taking dietary precautions alongwith walking. 2) Please understand that it is possible that your BP is well controlled because with both medicines and precautions, what you can do is trying to stop the medication under supervision of your doctor with regular BP monitoring, if without medications your BP remains controlled you can stop the medicine and then get your BP checked periodically.

Start exercising everyday (begin with walking for 20-30 mins ). Please learn Yoga as it is very beneficial (natural way to stay relaxed and feel energetic ). You can also start Homeopathy which can bring relief without any side-effects. Please revert back after you start exercising. Eat only healthy food while avoiding outside food (junk food/ processed and packaged food and beverages ). You can also opt for online consultation and start Homeopathy if necessary.

Just 2 months back I have undergone angeo plenty and stent where kept, but I i can not quit smoking a day am smoking around 6 cigrrates , what will happen if I smoke like this to heart and life.

Just 2 months back I have undergone angeo plenty and stent where kept, but I i can not quit smoking a day am smoking ...
Dear lybrate-user, your cardiologist must have told about the risk of another heart attack and stent if you continue smoking. They would have advised also how much of further risk comes down if you quit smoking. Quitting nicotine is under your control - modifiable risk factor. You can take your decision on it. If you have decided to quit, please take the help of nicotine replacement as gum or patch fro decreasing dose of gum or patch. This is mainly to reduce the craving by controlling the withdrawal symptoms. You can also take buproprion 150 mg twice a day to reduce the craving for nicotine for 7 12 weeks. Both are available over the counter without doctor's prescription. If you are not motivated enough, please consult a psychiatrist who will do motivational enhancement therapy weekly for 12 weeks or so. All the best. All the best. You have many years of quality life ahead.

LCHF diet has been proved to be good for diabetes. However it needs close monitoring and expert advice from a nutritionist or dietitian because if done wrongly it can affect other organs of the body. There is also a need to go for carb cycling during this diet every once in 15 days. For further details you can consult me online or on private chat.

Mr. Lybrate-user nath, it appears that present anti - diabetes treatment is not adequate. There needs to be an additional drug or total change of therapy. Plus you also have grade 1 obesity with 30.67 kgs/m2 bmi, which also contributes to high blood glucose. Any operative procedure is under taken only when blood glucose is below 200 mg/100 ml. You have not mentioned bp reading. Are you doing regular exercise like walking for at least 1 hour a day and some muscle strengthening activity daily? in addition to tablets diet control and exercise are very important for getting better control of blood glucose. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, At age 62, it is not abnormal to have slight change in ECG. To know more about heart condition, do 2D Echo or Thallium miocardial perfusion scan. This will give information of heart functioning. Regards.
