I met with an accident my left leg ankle has twisted X-ray report there is no fracture but mild soft tissue swelling noted around ankle how to cure this please help me I am volleyball player swelling not stopped yet.

May be there a hair line fracture, so recheck .ur x-ray was digital or normal, please meet orthopedic Dr. And follow him or take 2nd opinion. Ice pack apply locally for 48 hours thrice daily 10 to 15 minutes and elevate your leg above body level when sleep or bed mostly. Have a good day.

Dear Doctor I am 33 year old male over weight but from last 2 months am facing problem in my knee only in right one I see some swelling on that please advice me any home remedies as am out of my home country thanks.

Your knee pain is arthritis and is related to weight and reduce weight .You need to have diet plan based on your BMI & activities. Whatever we eat is metabolised by the body for the energy needed to do daily work and the excess is stored as fat. Abdomen is the first place to gain weight and last to disappear. In brief, Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) Drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) Take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 KMs and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. My friend is 30 years old he is having disc problem in his back what he should do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned pain in lower back region as his main problem. You are actually very young to have persistent pain. If there is only localized pain in back region with no other associated symptoms like radiating pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. If there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello, There are many causes of Leg pain, Which could be due to vitamin deficiencies, spinal issues, vascular etc. Your issues with eyes have to be dealt by an Ophthalmologist . Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay

I am from Hyderabad studying m. Tech, I have neck pain from 6 years, I use laptop when I turn my head it makes crackling sound and its paining a lot. I used many oils to relieve myself but it did not work, I tried stretching exercises but it lasts 3 -4 hours only, by the way I searches online for this, some said it was survical spondilysis is it true? if so is it cureable? suggest me please.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part - cervical spine. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

You are probably having a disc Lesion in the Lumbar (Back) region. Avoid Forward bending, Avoid squatting, Do hot fomentaton, aplly local gel. Have an X-ray of Lumbar Spine done after consultation with an Orthopaedic surgeon.

I am sportsman and I play cricket and every time I bowl I feel something uncomfortable and sometimes it gives me back pain only when l bowl and then after I finish my practise session and after 1hour I feel relaxed so which. Exercise I should prefer, I don't want to take medicines.

Low back pain can be due to many different causes such as muscular, disc/spondylosis, joint/degenerative arthritis or in young people due to poor posture and weak abdominal and back muscles. Try simple stretching exercises for the low back and leg muscles. Use alternate ice packs and hot water fermentation over painful area as tolerated. Sleep over firm mattress, not too soft and not very hard. Be aware of your posture throughout the day. If pain persists then consult a orthopaedic physiotherapist. Good luck for quick recovery. Try core stability exercises to strengthen back abdominals and hip muscles.

I am suffering from gout due to high level of uric acid deposition in my big toe which results in severe pain in toe and toe thumbs. I have been suffering since last 10 years from this, I have tried allopathy and homeopathy but they yielded no permanent result. Please suggest a remedy.

Hi, Most of the time, a high uric acid level occurs when your kidneys don't eliminate uric acid efficiently. Things that may cause this slow-down in the removal of uric acid include rich foods, being overweight, having diabetes, taking certain diuretics (sometimes called water pills) and drinking too much alcohol. Other less common causes are a diet high in purine-containing items or your body producing too much uric acid. Prevention:- -Increase your intake of fibre-rich diet. -Olive oil helps you avoid the production of excess uric acid. -Regular intake of 500 mg of vitamin C will decrease your uric acid levels in a month or two. -Avoid bakery products. -Increase intake of antioxidant-rich foods like fruits and vegetables. -Drink a minimum of 3 and 1/2 liters of water daily. Water is a medium that aids the kidney to 'strain' the impurities from your body. -Limit meat, poultry and fish - animal proteins are high in purine and this will result in high uric acid levels in the body. -Limit or avoid alcohol. This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain.
