It may be nothing... And if it does not get any further progress then it should go by itself... If it does get worse then consult a neurophysician for safety sake.

Hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

My father have problem in her mouth. He can not eat spicy things because he is so irritated by his mouth.

BHMS
Homeopath, Bangalore
As you haven't explained clearly of what is extact problem, as there's irritation from spicy foods I think its mouth uclers or redness in mouth, just take homoeopathic medicine borax 200 4pills 4 times 4 days. It ll give relief n give him lots of water n lime juice 3 times in a week n try giving him few cumin seeds to chew for 15 mins. It ll reduce the ulcers or redness.

My baby which is about a month old, very often stretch it's body, and especially while stretching it makes some sort of noise from it's mouth. Unsure if this is normal to all babies or something I need to worry. Would appreciate the opinions and advices in anticipation.

Dear Lybrate user, Please Relax! It is absolutely normal. Babies at such an early stage discover their ability to vocalize as they see you communicating with them (through eyes and encouraging words). Some babies begin to make some vowel sounds (like "ah-ah" or "ooh-ooh") at about 2 months. Your baby will "talk" to you with a variety of sound this is as normal as responding to your smiles with his or her own. :) This is simply a way to gain the caregiver's attention.

Bad breath can be due to accumulation of plaque or calculus, decay in teeth, dry mouth, sore throat, bad digestion, more intake of caffeinated and alcoholic drinks. Go for scaling and polishing. Brush twice daily and use a mouthwash. Reduce intake of caffeinated or alcoholic drinks. Avoid too spicy foods.

Flossing is as important as brushing on a daily basis. Taking the floss all the way down to the point where the teeth and gums meet is the appropriate way of doing it.

Swelling may cure with antibiotics, but it will recurr, as the source of infection is still there, better consult a dentist, get an x ray done, and do as advised, start doing salt water gargle in mean time, and do not eat anything hot.

Proper flossing equals to healthy gums and teeth as they remove the tiny food particles and plaque from the spaces between the teeth and the gumline.

Interesting Dental Facts and Tips for Healthy Teeth

Interesting Dental Facts and Tips for Healthy Teeth

Maintaining good oral hygiene is very simple if you follow these basic tips and incorporate some healthy habits in your daily routine. A little care goes a long way in ensuring that your smile stays bright and your teeth stay strong. A healthy smile resides in a healthy body. Value your smile and follow these simple tips for your oral health.

  • Going to the dentist at least twice a year is the best preventive measure that you can take to spot anything unusual going on in your mouth or jaws.
  • Brushing twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste is very important for healthy, cavity-free teeth. Don't aim to simply scrub your teeth, rather clean them gently using proper brushing technique.
  • Many people don't consider Flossing to be essential for oral health but if you don't floss, you miss cleaning almost 35% of your tooth surfaces. If you're unaware of the technique, ask your dentist to demonstrate it for you.
  • If you often find food particles getting stuck between your teeth, use an interdental brush or floss but Don't ever dig in using a toothpick. It leads to gum recession.
  • Using a frayed, worn out toothbrush for your teeth is as good as not brushing at all. Make sure you change your toothbrush after every 3 months. Keep it at least 6ft away from the toilet area. Keep it dry as a wet toothbrush attracts bacterial growth and clean it ocasionally by washing it with warm water to get rid of the bacteria.
  • The tongue plays an important role in reducing bad breath but it is often forgotten while brushing. Keep your tongue clean and scrape off all food debris using a tongue cleaner.
  • Having a good diet is equally vital for your oral health as it is for your overall health. Include healthy, Vitamin C rich citrus fruits in your diet as they are highly beneficial for your gum health. Consume plenty of water and fluids to keep yourself hydrated. It also helps in reducing the incidence of mouth ulcers. Avoid taking excess of aerated drinks/soda.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. I am troubled often by mouth ulcers. Are there simple remedies for this? I use a pain relieving gel and go on a course of folic acid and becosules and they come under control.

MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology, BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Hi, the problem you have described is suggestive of recurrent aphthous ulcers. Once ulcers are formed, they will stay for 5 to 10 days and heal by itself. For pain and burning over the ulcers, you can apply honey as a home remedy. Pain receiving gels and multivitamins like becosules and folic acid also help. These ulcers are mainly related with constipation, inefficient sleep, stress, vitamin deficiency and many more. If you get ulcers more then one time in a month for more than a year, then it's time to visit an oral medicine specialist and get the condition treated.
