First thing people notice when they meet us, is our smile,
take care of it! have a beautiful day.

I was having a tooth that became partly broken and also loose. Tonight at dinner part of the tooth has come out part is remaining with the gum. But there was no bleeding. My platelet count is low. What to do now. Should I get the remaining part of the tooth extracted or leave it as it is. I am scared for extraction since bleeding may not stop. What is the minimum platelet level when the tooth can be extracted.

After examination and certain tests the dentist concern will decide for extraction or save the tooth, for saving you will have to undergo a lenghty treatment, Root canal, core pin development and then the crown. Whatever is suitable get yourself treated.

I have a hole on teeth. After brushing bleeding is occurs since three month. Please help me. Thanking you,
Hi lybrate-user .u have to consult a nearby dentist and get filled your tooth. And bleeding might be related with some gum problems or from the decayed tooth, it indicates the decay is deeply involving the vital portion of tooth called pulp, if its so you consult an endodontist immediately and do a root canal treatment and if its from gums cleaning polishing followed by using a soft brush and right brushing technique will set your problems.

Hello, you need to visit a dentist and get it checked. If there is a cavity, get it filled. Get a scaling and polishing done. For sensitive teeth you can use any good sensitive toothpaste available in the market.

Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. You may need deep cleaning, polishing along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Can Chocolates Cause Tooth Decay?

MDS, BDS, Sedation(Inhalation) Specialist
Dentist, Hyderabad
Can Chocolates Cause Tooth Decay?

One warning that most children would have heard from their parent or other elders is, 'don’t eat chocolates, your teeth will get decayed'. And, most children grow up believing this to be true. As this is a global statement thus, more and more research has been done to clarify this. (Learn more to maintain Oral Health in Children)

Let us understand in brief the basic process of tooth decay. The tooth is made of mineralized layer called the enamel that is covered constantly with saliva. There are thousands of bacteria in the mouth. Food substances gradually deposit on the teeth and form plaque (learn more about plaque problem). This combination of a moist environment and bacteria on a mineralized structure produces the ideal environment for bacteria to act and produce acids which break down the minerals in the enamel. This is the first step in the origin of decay. The acid produced attracts more bacteria which further leads to worsening of the decay.

Some of the facts correlating chocolates and tooth decay are as follows:

  1. Chocolates in particular do not cause tooth decay. Very often, children tend to eat chocolates in between their meals and do not rinse or brush. This leads to greater level of plaque formation, thereby, starting off the process of decay. Not just chocolates any sticky foods can lead to tooth decay. What needs to be enforced is a habit to brush or at the least rinse thoroughly after eating a chocolate bar. In fact, this could be used as a reward, and it can help food deposits formed from other foods also to be washed away. The child gets to eat a chocolate, and good oral hygiene is reinforced too!
  2. Eating a chocolate before the actual meal is a way to indulge. What happens is that there is no sticky residue on the teeth if eaten this way. The child gets to enjoy chocolate at the same time keeping the teeth away from decay.
  3. Another habit is to make sure that the child eats all of chocolate at one shot than to keep nibbling at it for hours. That way, the chocolate can be managed with one round of brushing or rinsing
  4. it is advisable to give the child their share of chocolate at night, as most kids brush teeth before going to bed.
  5. Dark chocolates contain a good amount of antioxidants and are believed to reduce the incidence of plaque formation and therefore, they counter the effect of acids produced by the bacteria.

So, the next time someone talks about chocolates causing all the tooth decay, tell them it is not that bad, you can have your chocolate and eat it too!!

I'm 23 years old male. Saliva secrets in my mouth during sleeping. I have lot of saliva while wake up. I have this issue for 10 yrs. Help me to overcome this.

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Having saliva secretion is a normal body mechanism. There's nothing to worry about it. One good thing younshould know about saliva that most prople don't know is its a natural antibiotic produced in our body. It contains digestive juices also which hepls in a better digestion process. We usually consider saliva as a irritting thing when we get up in the morning and we spit it out with gargles. Instead of spitting it out we should swallow that saliva which in turn olays an important role in terms of digestion as well as a immunity booster. And having much saliva secretion also keeps our teeth clean which again keeos our mouth cavities free. So having much saliva secretion is a good thing rather than irritating.

Clean the surface of your tongue daily. By using a professional tongue cleaner you remove countless bacteria that otherwise live, particularly on the rougher top surface of your tongue. These can contribute to bad breath and negatively affect your dental health.

braces are the best solution. otherwise you can if slanting is not much, go for composite ot ceramic veneers with or without rct. if slanting is much, than removal n replacement of the same with bridging or implants can be done. both of this will damage your natural teeth. do better to go for braces.

We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.
