18 years male I am very short and thin but I want to 12 hours from now what should I do.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian

18 years male I am very short and thin but I want to 12 hours from now what should I do.
If you're starting again after a long time, then I would advice you to start in a gradual manner. Don't give your 100 percent on the first day as it can cause pain in your leg muscles or doms effect (delayed onset muscle soreness). Aim for 1-2 kms during the first week at a slow pace. Now gradually increase both the distance and the speed. 1. Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. Begin with body weight exercises like push up, pull up and squats. Weight training proves to be really helpful if you want to gain good quality weight. Train each body part twice a week. For example: monday/thursday: chest + triceps tuesday/friday: back + biceps wednesday/saturday: legs + shoulders don't forget to warm up for at least 10 - 15 minutes. Warm up includes jumping, rope skipping, treadmill, cycling, stair climbing, etc. 2. Eat healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 2 - 3 hours. Some of the recommended food items are boiled chicken and eggs, brown rice, brown bread, peanut butter, olive oil (extra virgin), green tea, dry fruits etc. 3. Consume good amount of fruits and vegetables. Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. 4. Eat whole grains. Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats are best sources of healthy carbohydrates but do not include these items in your dinner. 5. Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Boiled chicken and eggs are the best sources of fat free protein. Sprouts are also rich in protein.

Back exercises. Many people go to physiotherapists with back pain. Here are two exercises that help to relieve pain and reduce stiffness in the back: •Dear, 1. Lie on your back with both of your legs straight. In this position, bring your left knee up close to your chest. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Return your leg to the straight position. Repeat with the right leg. •2. Stand up with your arms on your side. Bend to the left side while slowly sliding your left hand down your left leg. Come back up slowly and relax. Repeat with the right side of your body.

Gud Evng sir, actually I want to quit smoke. I'm preparing for sub inspector job. Give me good suggestion for quitting smoking. Tq.

General Physician, Alappuzha
Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, chewing tobacco or drinking or using drugs avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like NICORETTE and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew Nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. Which can be prescribed if asked personally Cigarette smoking is a leading preventable cause of mortality. It kills more than 60 lakh people worldwide every year. More than 50% of regular smokers would invariably die from tobacco-related illnesses which includes heart attack, cancer or asthmatic lung diseases. Best age to stop smoking is before 40 31st May is “World No Tobacco Day” Quitting smoking before the age of 40 is associated with larger decline in premature death than stopping it at a later date. Best age therefore to stop smoking is before 40. However, stopping smoking even after the age of 50 is still associated with lower risk of death as compared to those who continue to smoke. Even in smokers aged 80 years or more, quitting smoking appears to reduce some mortality.

Would you please recommend an effective treatment to control the terrific pain around the knees due to Osteoporosis/Osteoarthritis without any side effects?

DNB ORTHO, MNAMS (Membership of the National Academy) (General Surgery) , MS ORTHO, MBBS
Orthopedist,
Ossteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affects almost everyone. It occurs when the protective cartilage wear off. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint in your body, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine. There is no Cure for Osteoarthritis. But staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and other treatments may slow progression of the disease and help improve pain and joint function. Symptoms Osteoarthritis symptoms often develop slowly and worsen over time. Signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis include: 1) Pain. 2) Tenderness. Light pressure gives pain. 3) Stiffness. 4) Loss of flexibility 5) Grating sensation 6) Bone spurs. These extra bits of bone, which feel like hard lumps, may form around the affected joint. Causes Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones in your joints gradually deteriorates. Cartilage is a firm, slippery tissue that permits nearly frictionless joint motion. In osteoarthritis, the slick surface of the cartilage becomes rough. Eventually, if the cartilage wears down completely, you may be left with bone rubbing on bone. Risk factors Factors increase risk of osteoarthritis include: 1) Older age. The risk of osteoarthritis increases with age. 2) Sex. Women are more likely to develop osteoarthritis, though it isn't clear why. 3) Obesity. Carrying extra body weight contributes to osteoarthritis in several ways. It puts added stress on weight-bearing joints, such as your hips and knees. In addition, fat tissue produces proteins that may cause harmful inflammation in and around your joints. 4) Joint injuries. Injuries, such as those that occur when playing sports or from an accident, may increase the risk of osteoarthritis. 5) Certain occupations. If your job includes tasks that place repetitive stress on a particular joint, that joint may eventually develop osteoarthritis. 6) Genetics. Some people inherit a tendency to develop osteoarthritis. 7) Bone deformities. Some people are born with malformed joints or defective cartilage, which can increase the risk of osteoarthritis. 8) Other diseases. Having diabetes or other rheumatic diseases such as gout and rheumatoid arthritis can increase your risk of osteoarthritis. Complications Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that worsens over time. Joint pain and stiffness may become severe enough to make daily tasks difficult. Some people are no longer able to work. When joint pain is this severe, doctors may suggest joint replacement surgery. Tests and diagnosis Clinical Examination, X Rays and Blood tests. Treatments and drugs 1) Medications A. Acetaminophen. B. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). 2) Therapy A. Physical therapy. B. Occupational therapy. C. Braces or shoe inserts. D.A chronic pain class – Training in group 3) Surgical and other procedures A. Cortisone shots. B. Lubrication injections. C. Realigning bones. D. Joint replacement. 4) Lifestyle and home remedies A. Exercise. B. Lose weight. C. Use heat and cold to manage pain. D. Apply over-the-counter pain creams. E. Use assistive devices. 5) Alternative medicine (I do not believe but people use) A. Acupuncture. B. Glucosamine and chondroitin. C. Avocado-soybean unsaponifiables. D. Tai chi and yoga.

How to fill the pore of our face and also improve the skin and remove the dryness?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

How to fill the pore of our face and also improve the skin and remove the dryness?
Hi Mr. lybrate-user I would recommend you for glowing skin and dryness use an apple it’s also good for resizing your pores, Apple has alpha hydroxy acid. It improves skin color and elasticity. Soak peeled apple slices in milk for 20 minutes and then blend to form a creamy paste, and then mix a tsp of lemon juice, apply all over your face. Rinse off after 15 minutes with cool water. Or you can also mash a banana and blend it with honey and apply it on your face. Wash it with lukewarm water after 15 minutes. Drink enough water. Citrus fruit juices to make the skin fair and healthy. And also watch your diet, are you taking all the nutrients. If you want to know more or any medical treatment for that, then contact me again.
