Breast Augmentation - What to Expect from the Procedure?

In today’s world, females have advance techniques available for shaping up their breasts. It is a part of their overall persona and beauty. Breast augmentation is one of the greatest plastic surgery operations that is done in hospitals across the globe.

Gone are the days, when you would sit back at home and blame nature for your saggy breasts. You have the gift of plastic surgery at your rescue. Breast augmentation can enhance the beauty of your breast and uplift its features. In this process, the implant is put under the pectoral muscle so that you can still breastfeed your infant if needed.
The process is executed with the help of a small 4 cm incision. The recovery process takes a week’s time. Breast augmentation can be carried out in a surgical centre or in any hospital’s outpatient facility. It doesn’t require a hospital stay in most cases. In some selected cases only, the procedure is done using local anaesthesia. In those cases, the patient stays awake. The breast region is made numb.

What to expect during the procedure?

The woman opting this must know what all are expected to happen during the procedure. The surgeon will insert the breast implant by making a single cut in one of the following three areas:

1. In the crease under breast
2. Underarm (axillary)
3. Around the nipple (periareolar)

After the incision is done, the surgeon will try and separate the breast tissue from the patient’s muscles and connective tissue. This will lead to the creation of a pocket either behind or in front of the pectoral muscle. After this, the surgeon will put the implant into the newly-created pocket. It will be centred behind the nipple.

Saline implants are put in an empty form and then filled with sterile salt water. Silicone implants are, however, pre-filled with silicone gel. After the implant is over, the cut is stitched with sutures and the skin is bandaged with adhesive and tape.

What to expect after the procedure?
For a few weeks, the patient might experience Soreness and swelling. It is also possible to develop bruises. Your scars will fade away with time. It is quite possible that the scars will not vanish permanently ever in your lifetime. You must wear a compression or sports bra at the time of healing. You might be required to take painkillers, as advised by the surgeon.

It's due to the side effects of the pills you have taken to delay your periods. You can take sufficient water, juice and food before taking it. Still some stomachache will be experienced.

Lybrate-user, if tsh level is high then conception will not occur. It is recommended that tsh should be <2 mu/l before conception. Similarly trough out the pregnancy also levels should be: 1st trimester 0.1 to 2 mu/l, 2nd trimester 0.3 to 3 mu/l & 3rd trimester 0.3 to 3.1 mu/l. With these levels good fetal development and healthy baby is delivered. If levels are high then pregnancy out come is not good. So please see that before attempting for the baby recommended tsh level is achieved. If you need any help please come in a private conversation with mentioning of current tsh levels. Thanks.

Pre Marriage Counselling

M.A. (Scholar), BHMS
Sexologist, Mumbai
Play video

Hi friends,

I am Dr Hitesh Shah sexologist, sex educationist, counsellor and therapist, a homeopath and a Wellness expert and also do corporate stress management, I am from Mumbai.

So once again welcome, today's topic is one of my favourite topic and that is pre marriage counselling. You must be wondering why to do pre marriage counselling, well friends see in every walk of life we educate yourself for example with studies from KG to Graduation to be able to earn on our livelihood, bread and butter. Even after that when we take a job or enter a profession or business we learn the system and processes, even after that we tend to make some other mistakes or accident, if you want to learn to drive a car to go for one month in the driving school then only you can avoid accidents and not only that you can also enjoy your driving and no innocent person will become victim of your rash on wrong driving. So you can understand importance of education and orientation in Every Walk of life, unfortunately the field of marriage, the relationship and specially the sex life is all taken for granted, there is no education about what marriage is, what concept of marriage is and that's the reason that you will see so very marriages in our society are mostly compromise, their potential is ultimate they can really create a heaven, if marriages are made in heaven you have the potential to create the heaven on the earth. But unfortunately we will see most of the couple fighting or there is communication gap, quarrels, arguments or even in severe cases a lot many times you see sexual dysfunctions forcibly incompatibility, sexual incompatibility, extramarital affairs, depressions, alcoholic and other addiction and of course worst thing to happen is often divorce. Now these things can be prevented and as I told you totally preventive, you can actually enrich your marriage life. If you have in time taken the right understanding and orientation to what marriage is. So what do we do in pre marriage counselling we teach the young couple what marriage is all about, the concept of marriage like from we were being a Sanskar in our culture, what it means to have a heart to heart communication empathising the art of communication, right from there to various element of relationship like love, care, affection, bonding so many other aspects and other of course A to Z about sex life, the foreplay, interplay, first intercourse. You will be surprise to know we get so many couples after marriage who are unconsummated, they have not able to consummate their marriage, means they cannot have penovaginal penetrative intercourse due to some or other reason. So couple learn before marriage, everything about relationship, marriage foreplay, interplay, male sexuality, female sexuality and even how to do first intercourse in different positions and satisfy each other with complete orgasm and fulfilment. And of course, we also take care of the premarital medical fitness from the angle of fertility and oral medical fitness. So pre med counselling is something like boon to mankind, to our society we can prevent so many marriages going to the rock getting divorce or Living a compromise marriage in the sex life. And I would request all the parents to give the children those who are going to get married, the gift of Pre marriage counselling program. So that they live lovely and a happy married life, thank you.

And to contact me myself Dr Hitesh Shah in Mumbai or online, you are always welcome to consult me through Lybrate. Thank you so much.

I am pregnant 4 months and twins. Is this possible for normal delivery. Can I feed both kids sufficient ly. I am ready to do any thing for them. For normal delivery and feeding. MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
I am pregnant 4 months and twins. Is this possible for normal delivery. Can I feed both kids sufficient ly. I am read...
Congratulations for your pregnancy. What you are asking about normal (Vaginal) delivery is something which can be decided only when you go in labor. With twin pregnancy there is a high risk of delivery before TERM (i.e 37 weeks ).In Twin pregnancy, at delivery, the situations can be different for the babies. The position of the babies at delivery determines whether they will deliver normally. Normal position of the baby means when baby is head down in your body. If the baby at the time of delivery is in any position other than this, then there are high chances of a cesarean. At times, after the vaginal delivery of the first baby, the second of twin moves and its position may change to an abnormal one. In such instances, cesarean may also be required for the second baby's birth. So considering all this it would be prudent to leave the decision to the attending gynecologist and and baby. Since premature delivery is a possibility, it would be better to register yourself with a hospital where care of premature babies is available 24/4 and operative delivery (Cesarean section) can be done anytime. In twin pregnancies, usually the babies are NOT very big, so taking adequate nutrition, rest and medicines will help them achieve the best possible growth to help themselves when they are born. Proteins are the building blocks of life, and hence protein rich food like daal, legumes, and meat milk etc can help supply these. Doing Yoga may make your body more flexible but IT does not guarantee normal delivery. So do it only if you like it and are not exhausted by it, that too under guidance from your doctor. Having a good nutritious diet will keep you fit to have a good care for self and baby. Take iron rich foods to maintain good hemoglobin, as there are chances of excess blood loss during twin pregnancy delivery. While having a bath, take care of your nipples, lightly hold them and pull them outwards to prevent retraction. Wishing you all the very best for a joyous pregnancy.
