lybrate-user, If hypothyroidism is present then weight increase is bound to occur unless TSH level is brought down around 3 to 4 mU/L. So first thing is to see that TSH is at desired level. Then efforts to reduce weight are likely to be fruitful. Most important is to have a restricted diet and exercise daily for at least 1 hour. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user if your belly is lowering your self-confidence and giving you sleepless nights, here are the tips to give you flatter and fitter tummy. 1. Add fiber to your diet constipation distends your belly, add veggies and fruits to your daily diet to relieve you of constipation, reduce intakes of refined cereals like maida, noodles, pasta and whole grains instead add dalia and oats. This would relieve you of constipation and bloat to give you a flat tummy. 2. Decrease sodium intake sodium retains water in the body and hence your belly swells up, reduce intake of junk food as it contains a lot of sodium. Stop adding extra salt to dishes, also packaged and processed food contains a lot of salts so better avoid it. 3. Increase potassium foods rich in potassium help you get rid of balancing sodium, fruits are very good source of potassium, adding them to their daily diet not only provides this nutrient but also increase the fiber content of your daily intake 4. Avoid sugar alcohols we do not completely digest these low-calorie sweeteners usually found in flavoured low-calorie drinks, diabetic and sugar-free foods. Bacteria in a large intestine ferment during gas and distension so check food labels and avoid sorbitol, xylitol and lacitol. 5. Increase liquids drinking plenty of liquids helps flush out toxins from the body. Keep yourself hydrated with at least 8 glasses of water, also include lassi, coconut, water, lemon water in your daily routine. Make sure to include homemade soups only, as packaged soups are not that nutritious and contain added sodium in them. 6. Carbonated beverages and alcohol these give you extended bellies and your dream of flat tummy falls flat. Alcohol gives you empty calories with zero nutrition. 7. Probiotic curds include low fat curd in your diet regime as it contains live bacteria which tame bloating by increasing intestinal motility. 8. Method of cooking no doubt salads and sprouts are good for our health but if experience distension with them then saute, blanch or steam them also fried foods are best to be avoided not only because of their high-calorie content but also because frying leads to changes in oil composition which may result in bloating. 9. Avoid chewing gums and candies while chewing them air enters our digestive system, giving us feeling of bloating, also candies are zero in nutrition but contain loads of calories. Also, eat slowly as gulping down increases air passage to the digestive system 10. Individual tolerances some individuals are more intolerant to certain foods like radish, capsicum, tea, cauliflower etc, so with your own personal experience omit them from your diet.

I am having hunger too often and want to eat too much since last 3-4 days. Even if I eat with full stomach, after an hour I feel hungry. This is quite irritating as I am trying to loose weight and this problem will never allow me to do the same. Pls suggest what can be done.

Hi I would suggest you to just have your blood sugar test done to rule out the doubt of hunger due to hypoglycemia. Meanwhile opt for inbteween healthy options like salads and fruits which will give fibre and keep you full for a longer duration and will also help in avoiding to pile up kilos. Hi doctor. Recently I have started going to gym from past 10 days. I am regular to gym irrespective of pain I have during workout. Today when I am doing workout, my master was near me and he saw I was struggling to lift the weight. So he said you don't have much of a muscle strength to lift weight. So he suggested me to consume "Muscle gain" protein powder on a daily basis. My question is. Is it good to consume protein powder? Will their be any side effects? not required, take 1. Take plenty of liquids- water , milk, soups, fresh juice narial pani, neebu pani/ 2. Take less salt 3. Take plenty of green and other coloured vegetables 4. Take more fruits 5. Take whole grain atta. 6. Take eggs. Pulses, dry fruits, chicken, fish 7. Take more milk and milk products 8. Can take multivitamin supplement do gym comfortably do not over do it beyond ur capacity good luck

For constipation I will suggest you to eat food with high fiber content like green leafy vegetables and can also eat bananas at bedtime as it is effective as a laxative and if necessary take 10 ml of syp cremaffin at night and can do exercise regularly.

Dear lybrate-user, there are diets and then there are more diets. And if you were to google you would probably find more than 100 different diets promising weight loss! yet, the world at large is getting heavier and fatter. The problem lies with modern highly refined, processed, high calorie density and low nutrient density foods -- coupled with a lifestyle that entails lesser or negligible calorie burning by way of activity and exercise. Stick to plant based whole foods: whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, grams and lentils. Shun animal foods and ditch dairy. And you will probably see your weight getting corrected. A little moderate activity -- as little as 30 min of brisk walk a day -would further help you trim your weight down. Best wishes.

Dear user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and Continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety. I suggest anxiety education, progressive counseling and progressive psychotherapy. I assure you complete cure. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

Hi 1. Start cardiovascular exercises like running, jogging, cycling etc. 2. Avoid carbohydrates and fats. 3. Avoid processed and junk foods. 4. Start exercising. Both body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups, squats and weight training in the gym is helpful. 5. Stay hydrated. 6. Have a light dinner. 7. Evening walk is always recommended. 8. Green veggies complete your nutrient requirements. 9. Consume all types of protein both from veg and non veg sources. 10. Sleep well.

Dear. Follow these best tips to get in shape and loose weight.* body become over weight due to deposition of fatty tissues. First you should follow diet plan for weight loss. * in morning, take 2-3 chapattis witha bowl of cooked green vegetables. You can take a glass of without cream milk after 2 hour of breakfast. *in lunch you can take a bowl of soupor salad. *in evening, you can take a cup of teawith glucose biscuits. *in dinner, you can take a bowl of fruits or 2 chapattis with a bowl of vegetables. * work out for atleast 1 hour in morning, you can try skipping for 15minutes with a walk of 30 minutes and 5-10 minutes running. For arms, take a bottle of 1 litre water filled bottle. Hold it in hand and raise you hands without moving elbow. Repeat for both arms for 5-10 times. It makes your arms slim and in proper shape. * do not eat fastfoods and soft drinks, as they have high calories.
