Ayurveda and Hernia

Ayurveda and Hernia

Hernia or what in Ayurveda is known as Antra Vriddhi, is a condition that takes place when an internal organ in your abdomen gets displaced and protrudes outward, giving rise to swelling in the abdominal region.
Even though you can develop a hernia anywhere in your body, it mostly occurs in the abdominal region and can affect both men and women at any age.

The causes of hernia are
Even though hernia can be a hereditary condition, certain factors can contribute in causing it. These are:

  1. Persistent coughing
  2. Putting excess pressure while passing faeces
  3. Straining your abdominal muscles by exercising or lifting objects that are heavy
  4. Obesity
  5. Buildup of fluid in your abdominal cavity

Symptoms:
Some of the symptoms that indicate you have hernia include a visible, hard protrusion, development of soft lumps and pain. However, some people may not experience any symptoms at all. Hernia can be of many types, depending on the part of the body affected and even varying on the basis of your gender. In worst cases, you may require surgery but Ayurveda can cure your hernia completely without the need of you going through a surgical process.

How does Ayurveda help?
Ayurveda helps in curing your hernia by focussing on your diet. If you follow these rules, you can cure yourself of hernia completely.

  1. Reduce the amount of food you eat in a day and take small meals frequently instead of the standard three meals.
  2. While eating, make sure you eat your food slowly.
  3. Drink lots of water and other fluids, but do not consume aerated drinks
  4. It is advised not to take water with your meals, but only to drink a glass of water an hour after and half an hour before each meal. By doing this, you reduce your chances of getting heartburn and aid in the proper functioning of the digestive system.
  5. Eating any form of raw food, such as uncooked meat and vegetables is strictly forbidden along with processed foods such as bread, cakes, cookies etc. However, when eating cooked food, make sure it's lightly cooked and not overcooked.
  6. Having a glass of juice freshly squeezed from vegetables or fruits is recommended, especially carrot juice as it is enriched with calcium and vitamin A that help in the healing process.
  7. Make sure that whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits are a part of your diet.
  8. Lastly, go for a walk after each meal and do not sleep after eating, especially if you've had a heavy meal.

I had sex yesterday. I used condom with her and after 3 hours I gave her unwanted 72 and after 6 hours she got nausea...
Unwanted 72 is high dose of hormone. May cause symptoms like nausea. But high frequency of urine may be due to urinary infection. Let her do a urine routine test.

When I go for latrine, sometimes there is bleeding from anus. It's not regular. Is it symptom of Piles? What should I do?

MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Aurangabad
When I go for latrine, sometimes there is bleeding from anus. It's not regular.
Is it symptom of Piles? What should I...
Swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort and bleeding. Other factors that increase the risk for getting hemorrhoids include constipation, diarrhea, lifting heavy objects, poor posture, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, eating a diet low in fibre, anal intercourse, and being overweight. Liver damage and some food allergies can also add stress to the rectal veins. People who consistently eat a high-fiber diet are less likely to get hemorrhoids, while those people who prefer a diet high in processed foods are at higher risk. A low-fiber diet or inadequate fluid intake can cause constipation, which can contribute to hemorrhoids in two ways: it promotes straining on the toilet People do not consider homeopathy medicine for piles at its early stages and this is one of the reason why they end up under a surgeon's knife. Masturbation - 6 Myths & Facts

Masturbation - 6 Myths & Facts

Although a very normal physical function, masturbation (the touching of your genitals and other erogenous zones to induce sexual pleasure) has certain taboos attached to it. This natural sexual practice has given birth to all kinds of myths which stops people from indulging in this form of self-pleasure.

Here are some of the most common misconceptions and the truths behind them.
1. Myth: Masturbation makes you go blind
Fact:
Masturbation cannot make you blind. Studies conducted on this point of contention haven’t been able to find a link between masturbation and blindness. On the contrary, these researches have gone on to reveal that individuals who masturbate 4 times daily or more for years haven’t been found to suffer from any diseases attributed to masturbation, including blindness.

2. Myth: It can cause you to suffer from erectile dysfunction
Fact:
Erectile dysfunction refers to the inability to maintain or get an erection during intercourse. The causes of this sexual dysfunction are varied, but masturbation doesn’t figure in the list of causes. What really happens is that when you masturbate repeatedly, you become used to your own touch or to a certain kind of sensation. As a result, you may find it difficult to have orgasms with your partner.

3. Myth: Masturbation doesn’t provide any long-term health benefits
Fact:
Many experts believe that masturbation can be good for your health. Some of the health benefits that it provides include improved concentration levels and better sleep. It also helps in relieving stress and headaches as your body releases endorphins (brain chemicals), which give you a sense of well-being. Apart from that, masturbating regularly ensures better fitness levels and a youthful appearance in men.
For women, it offers certain sexual health benefits such as less pain during sexual intercourse. This happens due to the interaction between brain receptors and the endorphins, which help in reducing your perception of pain. Furthermore, it can even reduce vaginal dryness.

4. Myth: Children do not masturbate
Fact:
Masturbation is a normal childhood habit, wherein young children discover the private parts of their bodies and the feelings of pleasure that arise from this activity. Most children begin to play with their private parts by about 5-6 years of age. A child can masturbate once a week or several times a day. There are even researches out there that show male foetuses masturbating in the womb.

5. Myth: There’s no limit to how much you can masturbate
Fact:
According to the American Psychological Association, you should stop masturbating if it affects your daily life; causes emotional problems or physical soreness; disrupts your relationship with your partner or makes you unable to have orgasms from the stimulation that you experience with your partner. Otherwise, the frequency of masturbating can vary from individual to individual. If you masturbate a number of times in a day and still lead a healthy and satisfying life, you have nothing to worry about.

6. Myth: People in relationships do not masturbate
Fact:
Whether you’re single or in a relationship, masturbation is a healthy sexual activity that you can engage in to fulfil your sexual desires. Studies show that masturbation is a very common behaviour; about 92% of men and 62% of women masturbate. Sometimes, couples also engage in masturbation together as part of their sexual activity.

Breathe Better, Fight Flu.

A vast majority of patients are asthmatic and suffer from related respiratory diseases. Swine flu has been making headlines for causing huge misery across the country.

Patients with asthma are more likely to develop lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, morbidity and mortality. Remember the strain of HINI is the same as it was in 2009.

It means we all have developed innate immunity against it but still there are patients suffering from this disease.

When Suniti, a 37-year-old working professional developed symptoms of the H1N1 swine flu in December, her condition quickly deteriorated. She recalls, ?I went to bed on a Tuesday night feeling fine. I woke up the next morning and felt terrible. I was dizzy, weak, feverish and simply in a fog.?

Taking a combination of antiviral and asthma medications  finally eased her symptoms, but not all asthmatic patients with H1N1 swine flu are so fortunate. In fact, research has found that asthma is the leading medical condition found among H1N1 patients requiring hospitalisation. Nearly 30 per cent of both child and adult patients hospitalised for swine flu have asthma. There are steps and methods to prevent swine flu. You have to see how best you breathe daily?

Just breathe more per breath and feel better, sleep better and avoid virus by taking a diet rich in protein, citrus rich fruits and engaging in outdoor physical activity can prevent major respiratory infections. Deep breathing exercises improve your oxygen delivery to tissues and help you to remove toxins.

Oxygen is, by far, the most vital component humans need to live. We can go weeks without food, days without water, but only a few minutes without air. To get the most out of oxygen, it?s imperative our lungs are functioning properly.

Every cell in the human body requires oxygen and although it seems like an autonomous function we may not give much thought to, deep breathing exercises can be done to help clear out toxins that may have built up in the lungs. This will help to improve lung performance and clear airways.

Deep breathing gets more nourishing oxygen into your body. Blood that is rich in oxygen will help you feel better and give you more energy.

Deep breathing also reaches the deepest depths of your lungs, and helps to expel and break up residue. Deep breathing exercises help in expanding the lungs maximally. Normally we all take small breaths and most of our efforts get wasted due to increase dead space ventilation.

By deep breathing exercises you breathe more per breath. If you breathe more per breath you expand your lungs more, you receive more oxygen. You will feel more energetic and also save your breaths. For example, if you breathe 250 ml per breath and your requirement is 5 litres then you need 20 breaths per minute.

If you breathe more breath say double i.E. 500ml then you will require only ten breaths. So by breathing deep you breathe less and you feel better and conserve energy.

STEPS

1. Find a relaxing and quiet place to sit down and feel your breath.

2. Close your eyes and begin by breathing in deeply through your nose from your belly up depths of your lungs to inflate all the alveoli and break up any toxins and pollutants that may have accumulated. Hold your breath for several seconds and then exhale over the course.

3. Now practise breathing out by tonic and clonic contraction of diaphragm. The diaphragmatic contraction will squeeze the lung and in turn increase the volume of breath in next breaths. Do sixty breath outs per minute.

4. Relax, close your eyes and watch your breath for the next one minute.

5. Repeat. Maybe, you could chant too.

I could not concentrate on my studies. Is it due to lack of sound sleep or due to extended hours of chatting in watsa...
It is due to both factors that you mentioned. Taking care of your body needs is as important as social media and friends. Have a routine and stick to it. Don't keep chatting till late night and avoid sleep. Go to bed at a decent hour and have about 7 hours of sound sleep everyday. Establish a time table for your studies and stick to it. You must have time for friends and entertainment but don't overdo anything.

pain is complex, so there are many treatment options medications, therapies, and mind-body techniques. There is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. A therapeutic diet complemented with few medications for pain management can also work wonders. Do reply back for medications. Being also a general physician, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary tips taking into account patient preferences.
