Hi after how many days from a period one should have sex for getting pregnant and till how many days should one have.
Hello, It depends on your length of your menstrual cycles. With regular periods, it is generally considered from Day 10 to Day 20 of periods. This is called the fertile period. You must have intercourse atleast every alternate day.

Don't worry lybrate-user. It takes some time for the menstrual cycle to start regularly. Just give her a good healthy diet. Periods will start on their own. It might take a few months before she starts a proper 28-30 days cycle.

Hi lybrate-user, you should get your wife checked by a gynaecologist to rule out any vaginal infection. Also get yourself examined by a urologist.

My wife 31years old has pregnant about 20 week. After doing ultrasound. In reports there is single umbilical arteries. But other reports r normal. Can it affect baby.

My wife 31years old has pregnant about 20 week. After doing ultrasound. In reports there is single umbilical arteries...
Occasionally, there is only the one single umbilical artery (SUA) present in the umbilical cord. Approximately this affects between 1 in 100 and 1 in 500 pregnancies, making it the most common umbilical abnormality. It is more common in multiple births. Its cause is not known. Most cords have one vein and two arteries. It may affect baby and a anomaly scan will be needed

Brain Surgery - Can It Cause Amnesia?

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MS - General Surgery, Mch - Neurosurgery, FLCS
Neurologist, Ghaziabad
Brain Surgery - Can It Cause Amnesia?

Often it has been observed in patients undergoing a brain surgery that their memory gets affected. The memory can sometimes be affected either by the tumor growing inside the brain or by the surgery for the removal of that tumor. Rather than the long-term memory, in the majority of the brain surgery cases, it is the short term memory that gets affected more noticeably. Further, sometimes, people have difficulties in making new memories after the brain surgery along with retrieving the old ones. Continue reading to know more about brain surgery and amnesia.

How is brain surgery connected to amnesia?
The presence of a tumor in the brain can affect one's memory in two different ways. Though not everyone suffers from it, there is a possibility that the treatment or the surgery often leads to memory difficulties and sometimes it's the location of the tumor in the brain that causes the memory damage. Sometimes, even radiations or chemotherapy sessions can also be responsible for amnesia. One must know that having a brain tumor or opting for a brain surgery doesn’t necessarily cause memory loss or amnesia for everyone. And those patients who do suffer from this, both the severity and symptoms of the memory loss vary from one to another.

Probable memory difficulties
Memory difficulties, also commonly referred to as amnesia, can be two different types, retrograde amnesia, and anterograde amnesia, irrespective of whether it is the result of the treatment or the location of the tumor. In case of retrograde amnesia, the memory loss occurs before undergoing a brain surgery, or sometimes even before developing the brain tumor. However, those who suffer from anterograde amnesia face difficulties in remembering their previous memories after the brain surgery is performed.

Coping with amnesia
Once the type of memory loss one is suffering from is identified, there are various ways and strategies to cope with amnesia, suggested by the doctors. Taking good care of one’s self, having the necessary amount of sleep along with a healthy diet helps one improve his or her capacity of recalling the forgotten memories in many cases.

Further, by adopting simple measures like maintaining a diary, following a routine and organizing one's medications with reminder notes can also help an amnesia patient in coping with the normal life situations. Minimizing the distractions and focusing on a single thing at a time can also be helpful in not only coping with it but also in improving the memory.

In case one displays signs of having a memory problem after a brain surgery, he or she should be immediately taken to a clinical psychologist or a neuropsychologist. Because it is with the help of this medical professional that severity of the amnesia that the person is suffering from and which part of memory has been affected can be determined, and the right ways of coping with the issue can be suggested. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Warning Signs For Suicide

Warning signs of suicide
Suicide does not have one single cause. Certain factors like stress & untreated depression can lead to higher risk of suicide just as having a robust social circle can help protect you from suicide.

#warning signs
Warning signs are indicators that a person may be in acute danger and may urgently need help.
*talking about wanting to die or to kill oneself;
*looking for a way to kill oneself;
*talking about feeling hopeless or having no purpose;
*talking about feeling trapped or being in unbearable pain;
*talking about being a burden to others;
*increasing the use of alcohol or drugs;
*acting anxious, agitated, or reckless;
*sleeping too little or too much;
*withdrawing or feeling isolated;
*showing rage or talking about seeking revenge; and
*displaying extreme mood swings.

Risk factors
Risk factors do not cause or predict a suicide, rather they are things that make it more likely an individual will consider, attempt or die by suicide.

*mental disorders, particularly mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders and certain personality disorders
*alcohol and other substance use disorders
*hopelessness, impulsive and/or aggressive tendencies
*history of trauma or abuse
*major physical or chronic illnesses
*previous suicide attempt
*family history of suicide
*recent job or financial loss
*recent loss of relationship
*easy access to lethal means
*local clusters of suicide

*lack of social support and sense of isolation
*stigma associated with asking for help
*lack of health care, especially mental health and substance abuse treatment
*cultural and religious beliefs, such as the belief that suicide is a noble resolution of a personal dilemma
*exposure to others who have died by suicide (in real life or via the media and internet)

#protective factors
Protective factors are characteristics that make a person less likely to engage in suicidal behavior. Moreover, protective factors can promote resilience and ensure connectedness with others during difficult times, thereby making suicidal behaviors less likely.
*effective clinical care for mental, physical and substance use disorders
*easy access to a variety of clinical interventions
*restricted access to highly lethal means of suicide
*strong connections to family and community support
*support through ongoing medical and mental health care relationships
*skills in problem solving, conflict resolution and handling problems in a non-violent way
*cultural and religious beliefs that discourage suicide and support self-preservation

Suicide is not a solution to any problem. Let's talk. Do not hesitate. We can prevent suicide.
We can prevent suicide by timely helping a person in need.

I am 24years old and newly married and trying for pregnancy. But I have menses pain and using spasmonil pain killer as prescribed by the doctor. I had pcod and 3 cycles hormone tablet I took. After curing pcod doctor gave me this pain killer. But sometimes I take 2 tablets a day. Still I didn't get pregnant. Is the pain killer reason for that? Please tell me solution and again I want to go for a scan. Is there any tablets that cures pain at one dose for 1 day fully,

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Homoeopathic medicine DYSMIN ( SBL) Chew 4 tab 2-4 hrly depending on severity of pain during periods nd report after 3 months 1. Eat organic food. Avoid junk. 2. Drink lots of water. 3. Exercise regularly. Brisk walking is a good idea to keep weight under control. 4. Visit nature places and spend time alone. 5. Take steps to calm your mind. Worrying about the problem can only make it worse – listen to music, read or spend time gardening. Butterfly Pose can be very helpful in PCOS. Don’t flap your legs too much; instead try holding the posture for long. 1. Even more helpful is SuptaBadhakonasana (Reclining Butterfly Pose), which works just like the Butterfly Pose,this time lying down. This is what makes it extremely relaxing. To enhance the experience, play some soft music and place cushions under your hip. For beginners, it is a good idea to use cushion support while doing this posture. 2. Bharadvajasana (Bharadvaja’s Twist) is a seated spinal twist that helps PCOS patients. 3. Chakki Chalanasana (moving the grinding wheel) is a very simple exercise with several benefits. It helps massage the liver, kidneys, pancreas, uterus and the reproductive organs. 4. Shavasana (Corpse Pose) is another useful posture to try. In PCOS, the more you relax, the better you feel and this posture will help you completely relax at the end of your yoga session. 5. Padma Sadhana practice is also considered very effective for PCOS patients. 6. Make sure you don’t hold the postures that put pressure on the abdomen (Bow Pose, Superman Pose, Cobra Pose and Boat Pose) for a long time. 7. A few rounds of Sun Salutation at a faster pace can be good for weight loss; however, it is a good idea to practice only a few slow rounds daily for more relaxation.
