Male Contraception - An Insight!

What are the latest advancements in male contraceptions?

The drawback of surgical approaches (such as vasectomy), especially patient compliance and the low success rates with condoms has spurred research on hormonal contraceptive dosage forms. There is a dearth of investigations in the development of pharmaceutical preparations. Evolving technology in the 21st century as well as improvement in living standards further underline the need for new male contraception approaches, especially those that entail new drug delivery methods.

Here are few areas where male contraception is being researched and used in some countries

Hormonal contraception for men is possible, and we are at the threshold of an important breakthrough. Combined testosterone plus progestin administration is more effective and safer than testosterone alone. Combination of testosterone plus an anti-androgenic progestin has several advantages over other formulations. In combined therapy, single injection formulation may have better compliance.

  • Conventional male contraception
  • Abstinence (doesn't work well)
  • Masturbation
  • Male condom
  • Vasectomy

There are other methods being developed but not sure they are there yet. But for guys? Their options are stuck in a time warp. If a man wants to take pregnancy prevention into his own hands, his choice basically comes down to condoms, a vasectomy, withdrawal, or abstinence. That’s why it's so amazing that scientists are finally developing some real advancements when it comes to male contraception.

Researchers writing in the April issue of the Open Access Journal Contraception published a rundown of the top emerging options. A few hold real promise, particularly a daily or weekly pill that would deliver a dose of artificial hormones to a guy’s bloodstream, which would then act on reproductive hormones to stop sperm from being produced. Like the female hormonal pill, the male hormonal pill would be reversible. But also like the female hormonal pill, there appear to be side effects, among them acne, weight gain, and even trickier to work around, changes in testosterone levels that trigger a plunge in libido.

Non-hormonal techniques are also being developed, particularly a vaccine that immunizes men with antibodies to halt sperm production. This so-called male birth-control shot is encouraging, because it targets sperm directly (rather than targeting other hormones in the body) and doesn’t have the testosterone-lowering side effects of a hormonal pill. Each injection would last for long intervals (experts aren’t yet sure how long), but the pregnancy-preventing effects would be reversible, if and when a guy decides he’s ready to be a dad.

So when can you expect to see men rushing out to the pharmacy counter to pick up their new birth control Rx? “I think we may see a novel male contraceptive within 10-12 years, That may seem far off, but hey at least it’s finally within sight. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

Do a pregnancy test now and repeat after 1 week. But you have now chances to conceive because your baby must have started top foods besides breast milk. So contraception because of lactation is not 100 percent.

I think you dont believe in foreplay and just concentrate on sex.Firstly make your wife comfortable to have sex. There must be a strong bonding in your relations.Sex is not just a play of sexual organs but it is the collection of many different aspects of a HUSBAND-WIFE or a MALE- FEMALE RELATIONSHIP. 1.Love your wife like she is the most preciouss creature in this world 2.Try to find out her likingss and fulfill them 3.Dont try to have sex against her wish 4.Try to find out what is going on in her mind. 5.Dont speak loudly in front of her or dont try todominate her in any decison making talk going on in your family 6.Make her feel like she is also an important member of family and no decision is final without her. 7.Go for a atleast 10-15 minutes minutes morning or evening walk all with your wifewhilediscussing daily house matters. 8.If you find her wrong anywhere dont scold her but tell her that she is wrong in the most lovable way.Dont argue. 9.Lasstly after implementation of all thesepoints for one month, concentrate on foreplay for atleat 5 minutes before having sex. 10.Your wife must feel like you are the one who she wass looking for throughout her life. Can you do this

1) up the ambiance what your surroundings look like can play a role in how much you feel like having sex. Are the lights blaring? is the bedroom a disaster? dim the lights, put on some sexy music and remove the piles of clothes from the bed. It's hard to feel romantic in the midst of a messy room. 2think about comfort like ambiance, comfort is another simple yet sneaky factor in how you feel about sex. Being too hot or too cold can be an instant turn-off. Close or open windows, adjust the heat or air conditioning and you may feel a bit more in the mood for love. 3minimize distractions it can be hard to get in the mood for sex when your phone keeps beeping to let you know you have a text or new email. Put your phone away or turn it off (or hide it) so you're not wondering who's trying to get in touch when you should be focused on being touched. 4de-stress together after a long day at work or at the end of a stressful week, it can be understandable that you don't feel like getting frisky. A good remedy for this is to de-stress together, which can be a good way to reconnect while easing you into the idea of sex. Take a hot bath together, have him give you a massage or even go for a long walk after dinner to unwind before getting into bed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it will be to get in the mood. 5do something to feel sexy whether it's putting on your favorite lingerie, listening to a specific album or song, lighting candles or strutting your stuff in a little black dress and sky high heels, do something that makes you feel sexy and confident if you're having trouble getting in the mood. By making an effort to feel sexier, you'll be much more likely to get into the right frame of mind required for an enjoyable sexual experience -- meaning one that's fun and satisfying for both of you. Regards,

Pregnancy is possible only on one day of cycle, day of ovulation when ovum is released from ovary of woman. This is often deranged in PCOS that is why Fertomid type of treatment is given for ovulation. For pain you need to be reexamined by Gynecologist. Tips for Better Control Over Premature Ejaculation

Tips for Better Control Over Premature Ejaculation

A number of problems when contracted can affect your life and the life of your partner, especially problems which are related to your physical relationship. Premature ejaculation is one such problem and it refers to the inability to retain the erection until the end of the intercourse and usually happens when the male ends up ejaculating sooner than planned or immediately upon penetration. Premature ejaculation is a condition that many men suffer due to the advancement of age as well as low pelvic strength and other ailments. Also, it can be caused due to stress and panic regarding one's performance. Whatever be the cause, it is an embarrassing situation that calls for help if it persists for too long. Here are a few tips to ensure that you gain better control over premature ejaculation.

  1. Deep breathing Exercise: Sometimes, too much of excitement can lead to a variety of problems including premature ejaculation. If this becomes a normal occurrence, you can try practicing deep breathing during the act of sex to calm yourself down and slow down the frenzy so that you are more attuned to your surroundings and partner rather than yourself and the panic you may be feeling. Taking deep and slow gulps of air can ensure that you focus on the act rather than getting caught up in the excitement.
  2. Medications: there are broadly two kinds of medical treatments - local application anaesthetic gels that numb the area around the tip of penis and tablets that prolong ejaculation time. One needs to consult a sexologist, psychiatrist or a urologist to know more about them.
  3. Stop and Start: This is a method that many sexologists recommend. The stop and start method is one that will have to be practiced individually so that you are able to retain more control over your ejaculation when you are with your partner. Basically, in this method, you are required to start the process of masturbation and stop just short of ejaculation. After doing this several times and on a regular basis, you will find that your brain reacts in the same way when you are having intercourse, which will delay the ejaculation to a normal period.
  4. Kegel: If you thought that kegel exercises are only for women, then you need to think again. Premature ejaculation also signifies low pelvic strength for many cases and you would do well to invest time in a few exercises like the kegel, which will build up your pelvic strength so that you are able to control premature ejaculation in a better way.

Persistent problems that are not fixed with these methods should be addressed with a consult to a doctor.

I am quite over weight too. Can this be a reason? I am worried that this might affect my fertility as well. What should I be doing to get rid of this problem forever.

In a regular 28 day cycle, ovulation will be on 14 th day. From day 9 to 19 is the unsafe period. Natural cycle/timed intercourse is not very reliable method of contraception.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) - Know Everything About It!!

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) - Know Everything About It!!

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is also known as PCOD. PCOS is a hormonal and metabolic disorder of women which has negative impact on their cardiovascular and reproductive health. Exact cause of PCOS is not known but both genetic and environmental factors play a role in it's development. It is known to run in families.

Clinical features of PCOS

Classically PCOS is described as triad of hyperandrogenemia, anovulatory cycles and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound. Any two of these three clinical features are enough to diagnose condition.

Common symptoms of PCOS

Symptoms of PCOS are irregular cycles with episodes of heavy bleeding, infertility, thick and dark hair growth over face and trunk, acne, male pattern hair loss over forehead. Many of these girls and women are overweight or obese. People with PCOS are at increased risk of diabetes mellitus and heart diseases.

Diagnostic tests

To diagnose PCOS, few blood tests to see your hormone levels and ultrasound scan of pelvis are done. Simultaneously patients need to undergo blood tests to assess their metabolic health and to rule out other hormonal disorders which can have similar clinic presentation as in PCOS.

Treatment

Lifestyle modification is first and most important for patients of all age group. They should exercise regularly and maintain normal weight. Then depending on patients symptoms oral tablets are given either to manipulate hormone levels or their action. With treatment, patients have good quality of healthy life. These medicines make menstrual cycle regular, reduce abnormal hair growth over face and trunk, improve glucose tolerance and improve fertility. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Endocrinologist.
