As far as these drugs are concerned these are given only when necessary in pregnancy. As you have not given your medical history in detail it is difficult to say anything. Qutipin 25 is not to be stopped but if you didnot have any attack from past one year then aripmt can be gradually reduced and stopped. But exact advice can be given only after your complete medical history.

Dear lybrate-user, Happy to know that you are doing yoga regularly. Always ensure you are eating protein rich food after your workout. It can be either eggs, millet/ragi malt, curd, nuts, seeds, milk, sprouts, boiled pulses etc. Also, have at least 2 fruits as snacks during mid morning and early evening. Drink 1-2 cups of green tea around noon and evening. For dinner, have a bowl of boiled vegetables or full veg soups. Ensure you eat small portions and increased variety. Also focus on eating slow, undistracted and mindfully. Feel nourished always. All the best!

For knee pain the best treatment course would be to undergo janu vasti at a panchakarma centre near you. After undergoing janu vasti, you shall be completely treated. If need the doc might prescribe you some ayurvedic medicines depending on your body type. Till then you can have drumstick soup daily. Also boil 2 pieces of garlic in 1 cup milk & 1 cup water. When 1 cup remains, strain & drink daily after adding 1 tsf cow ghee. If you want guidance on ayurvedic medicines, then you can consult me privately, with knee x ray image. Backacke can be due to numerous reasons like back strain, big tummy, slip disc, lumber spondylosis. For best treatment please send an x ray image. Till then you can do following home remedies: 1) mix camphor in coconut oil and boil it. Massage it followed by hot fomentation. 2) have turmeric & honey milk. 3) put a hot-water bag on back supported by a cushion. 4) add ginger while brewing your tea 5) if you are overweight, go for weight loss program 6) stay away from cold, go for hot water baths.

You are probably suffering from what Dermatologist call urticaria. Common causes are food allergy, infection or drugs taken for some condition. It presents with itching resulting in formation of red rashes which we call hives or wheals. Although in most cases cause remains unknown in spite of a thorough search. It can be symptomatically treated with antihistamines so that you do not get any new hives. The treatment should be prolonged until it resolves which usually takes 1 to 6 months. Please call me or contact me through online consult option for further details and treatment.,

Hey. Thank you for your query. Weight gain is all about a balance of right nutrition and exercise. Here are some tips for you to get started: Eat a lot – This sounds much easier than it really is. Whatever you’re eating now, you should probably double it. If you eat three meals a day, instead eat six. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours, and each meal needs to be the size of a normal meal. This is going to be difficult for a few weeks, because you’ll often have to force yourself to eat even when you’re not hungry. Not just any calories though. Eat a lot of good things – You need to eat a ridiculous amount of calories if you want to gain weight, but you want to make sure most of those calories are GOOD calories. You could easily get lots of calories eating burgers and pastries, and drinking aerated drinks but that will just make you fat. If you want to build muscle, you want to eat healthy calories that are loaded with good protein, good carbs, and healthy fats. Protein = building block for your muscles. Chicken, fish, meat, eggs, milk, almonds, peanuts. Eat lots of this stuff, all the time. Carbs will help you put on weight along with protein, roti, rice, wheat bread, bajra or jowar, etc. Will help you put on weight. Every meal should have vegetables and fruit. If you just eat protein, your body will resort to using it for energy rather than building muscle. Just taking protein shakes thrice a day will give NOTHING. Unless you’re eating tons of good fats (peanuts, almonds, ghee, cream), good carbs (fruits and veggies, whole grains), and protein, you won’t be gaining weight. Keep track of everything you eat – input your stats and start to track every one of your meals. It will tell you if you’re eating enough calories, enough protein, and enough carbs. Compound exercises are your friend– Concentrate on complex, compound exercises that recruit as many muscles as possible. Appearance is a consequence of fitness – Concentrate on being really strong and lifting heavy weights, and your body will follow suit. Let your muscles rest – never exercise the same muscle two days in a row. Your muscles get rebuilt (larger) during your days off, so never exercise the same muscle before it’s ready. Sleep – you need to be getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night for maximum gains. Your body is doing nothing but lying there and building muscle while you’re sleeping. If you are only getting 6 hours or less, you’re not going to get all the benefits of your exercising and diet. Cardio alone is not going to help– Running long distances isn’t going to help you. If you’re going to run, do sprints or run up a hill. Keep your distance cardio to a minimum if you want to put on some pounds. Make it part of your routine. It’s okay to skip a workout here and there, but it is NOT okay for you to skip a meal if you’re serious about weight gain. You need to be always eating. Realize you will put on some fat – with all of this eating, you are going to be putting on some fat along with your muscle. That’s okay!

Abnormal Sleep Behaviour in Kids - How It Can Be Managed?

MAMC, MRCPCH, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Noida
Abnormal Sleep Behaviour in Kids - How It Can Be Managed?

At birth, an infant sleeps for most of the day. As he or she grows up and starts going to school, they begin to spend a larger part of the day awake, but still need a minimum of 8-9 hours of sleep a day. A good, restful sleep is essential as children’s bodies grow as they sleep. Not getting adequate sleep can cause a range of problems in their school work, social relationships and health.

Some signs that your child may be suffering a sleep problem are

  1. Difficulty falling asleep at night
  2. Waking up in the middle of the night
  3. Snoring or breathing difficulties while asleep
  4. Difficulty staying awake through the day
  5. Recurring nightmares
  6. Sleepwalking

In most cases, making a few healthy lifestyle changes can help improve the quality of your child’s sleep. Some steps to take are:

  1. Create a routine: Establish a regular time for your child to go to bed and wake up every day. This may vary slightly on weekends and holidays but the difference should not be more than an hour. Do not allow your child to watch television or play video games while going to bed. Ideally, the television, computer or any other gadget should be switched off at least an hour before your child’s bedtime. Create a relaxing routine for your child to follow before going to bed like, having a bath or listening to a bedtime story. Avoid getting into bed with your child to help them sleep.
  2. Create an atmosphere: When your child goes to bed, the room should be dark and at a comfortable temperature. If you want to leave a night light on, ensure that there is nothing in the light’s path that could create shadows that may scare the child. Ensure that the noise levels in the rest of your house are low once your child is in bed. If you socialise a lot at home, your child’s room should be at the other end of the house as compared to your living room so that the sound of people does not disturb him or her. You could also let your child choose a stuffed toy to hold onto as a security blanket while they sleep.
  3. Have the right dinner: As far as possible, avoid giving your child a heavy meal just before going to bed. Additionally, do not allow them to have any food or drinks with caffeine for up to six hours before bedtime. Dinner should always be a light meal that is easy to digest. Consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I am working in night shift for the past 3 years. Now a days I am not getting sleep properly due to stress. Can you suggest some advice to live routine life with good sleep.

If you are still following the night shift or have recently been shifted out of that schedule, you are likely to have a problem with sleep. The bio clocks have seemingly gone awry. So it will take some time for the body to make the change and fit into the new schedule, and then your sleep will happily return. In your case particularly, do not sleep during the day; don’t even lie down. Go for regular exercise (breathing through your nostrils only) at a fixed time (at about 6 am) every day, whether you sleep or not. You must develop this habit of sleeping by 10 pm latest every night and wake up at a uniform time by 6 am every morning, even if you do not get sleep. If you do not get sleep, just lie down and if you have a bed lamp (or you could get one) lie down and read something light but not exciting. Your eyes will tire and you will fall asleep. If you like you may also put on light and soft music with the sleep function on. Depending on whether you are a visual or auditory person, you may watch TV in a lying down position until you feel sleepy. Have a warm bath before going to bed (for some people a cold bath at night seems to induce sleep! If you are one of them, please do so). Place the head side of your bed in a North-South position. The room must be as dark as possible and there should be no electronic items that give off even a light LED glow. There must be ample ventilation in the room. Avoid strong odors, except lavender, on your body or in the room, or on your sheets and clothes. There should not be any live plants in your bedroom. Sleep with the lightest of clothes or without any clothing. When lying down to sleep, lie down on your left ear as much as possible. Do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. You must eat a good breakfast, a fairly light lunch, and an early dinner, which should be a very light meal. Whatever you eat in the other meals, have only a pure carbohydrate meal at night with any vegetables, and preferably before 8 pm. Do not drink too much liquids after or near about dinner time. When lying down to sleep you may use the 4-7-8 breathing pattern of sleep inducement i. E. Breathe in for four counts through your nostril only, hold for 7 counts, and exhale with a whoosh sound, through your mouth only, for 8 counts. Repeat this four times in the morning and just before you sleep at night. If you know Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT (check this out either on YouTube or Google), then please practice this too for sleep induction. Self-hypnosis and slow relaxation techniques, at night will be tremendously useful. Acupuncture or acupressure will both be very useful too. Pray, the last thing at night before you sleep.

Hello- As you are asking about yoga postures, I am going to tell what ayurveda has to say on your question. Ayurveda states that any kind of physical exertion yoga/exercise/running can obstruct the flow of menses and can cause the re-absorption of the toxic menstrual blood in the body causing gynecological problems (like PCOD, fibroid) or skin problems. Due to over sensitive nature of uterus at the time of bleeding, improper dietary intake such as fast foods ,spicy foods etc also can cause problems in future. So I advice you not do yoga/exercise during your menses.
