How painful is root canal process? what precautions to be taken pre and post process

BDS
Dentist, Asansol
Hello. Root canal treatment is a painless procedure. It can be done in single sitting or in some cases 3 to 4 sittings are needed. That depends on severity of infection. Normally we ask patients not to bite any hard food during the procedure. As tooth may get fracture. But once the crown is placed on rct treatment tooth. You can take normal food.

My teeth have become yellow and its not going even I'm brushing properly regularly. Please tell me any remedy.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

Get your jaw examined by a dental surgeon for the reason of this pain, he will examine and do the needful. The treatment you taken is fine, you can take tab combiflam in case of pain and do mouth opening exercises carefully.

I am 24 years old. I started chewing tobacco in my school days. But last few months I am not using any tobacco product. Today I found that there were white spots in my gums in corner side. Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Well, it may not be oral cancer yet. I would advise that you get this clinically examined by an experienced dentist. If in doubt still, you can always connect with a head and neck oncologist for 2nd opinion. Additionally, please continue with your good habit of staying away from tobacco products. Streamline your diet and lifestyle, and maintain a good oral hygiene. You can take green tea, twice daily. Hope this helps. You can connect for a suitable naturopathic traction should it require anytime. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely.

Tooth Decay

Dentist, Dehradun
Tooth Decay

What if you have tooth decay?

If you have developed black or brown spots of decay on your teeth either in the fissures or on the smooth surfaces and it is associated with discomfort and / or sensitivity to hot and cold and / or frank pain, it is likely that you have tooth decay. Your dentist will evaluate you comprehensively and based on his clinical and radiographic findings he will do one of the following;

1. Make an opening in the crown and remove decay, shape the cavity and fill it with a tooth colored filling or an amalgam filling. This could also be done under local anaesthesia.

2. If the decay is very deep and the pulp (nerve, root canal) is involved in the decay process he will, under local anaesthesia go deeper into the pulp chamber, remove the pulp and the nerve, render it free of infection, do a root filling and later put an amalgam or a tooth colored filling. Subsequently he will put a veneer or a crown on the tooth as the case may be.

I'm using braces For my teeth and I'm not able to eat and kind of food since my tongue is getting hurt badly. So please advise few juice diet to prevent lose of weight and regular health.

Sir I broken one teeth half in my front row of teeth so I am planing to extract them its crct 6 not sir.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Getting a tooth extracted at the age of 24 is not at all a good choice of treatment, unless there is no other treatment option possible for that tooth. If a root canal treatment is possible, it is best to save the tooth and restore it with a dental crown.

I need to know about how to get natural white teeth without use any medical product. And I also want to know about how to clean fingers toning.

MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Delhi
Teeth do not come white in colour, its in shade of yellow, some have slight yellow while others have more yellowish. If you are not happy with the natural tooth colour then go for bleaching, applying natural products dosent works as effective as bleaching.

What are the symptoms of malaria and how I will reduce the pain of teeth in winter season.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Malaria is an acute febrile illness. In a non-immune individual, symptoms appear 7 days or more (usually 10–15 days) after the infective mosquito bite. The first symptoms – fever, headache, chills and vomiting – may be mild and difficult to recognize as malaria. If not treated within 24 hours, P. falciparum malaria can progress to severe illness, often leading to death. Children with severe malaria frequently develop 1 or more of the following symptoms: severe anaemia, respiratory distress in relation to metabolic acidosis, or cerebral malaria. In adults, multi-organ involvement is also frequent. In malaria endemic areas, people may develop partial immunity, allowing asymptomatic infections to occur. Toothache: Apply Plantago Q/ few drops on cotton swab, place it on the affected tooth/ teeth and press it tightly, do it thrice a day. Orally, take Mag. Phos. 6x/ after every 2 hours. Do visit a dentist for proper diagnosis, share the reports with me. In case possible, will help you in treating your problem.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day. When you brush, don't rush give sufficient time.

Since I have adopted a cap on my one of the inner teeth a foul smell usually comes. What shall I do to remove it.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

• Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. • Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. • Reduce your alcohol consumption. • Stop smoking. • Cut down on coffee. • Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. • Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. • Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. • Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment.
