I had an accident 2 months back and sprained my ankle. It took 21 days to recover, then again I bought a slipper which was too spongy and the same happened again. I couldn't put weight on my ankle and can't stretch my muscles below knee joint. I consulted a doctor and he prescribed me pain killers. My ankle has become a little flexible than before. Dear lybrate user, apply rhus tox q thrice daily on that area and take rhus tox200 thrice a day five drops in wate r. Also do massage with seasame oil at night with a rest of two three days. Do not put weight on the ankle for some days.

For pain take tablet paracetamol 650 mg and eat nutritious food and have adequate fluid intake and take physical rest.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Although there can be many causes for heel pain like spurs, fascial inflammation, infection, trauma etc but normally plantar fascitis is the most common cause especially if there is no history of any injury or any s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness etc. This kind of pain is usually due to inflammation of your heel fascia. It is chronic pain which get aggravated especially when you walk more and is better with rest. Treatment modalities are aimed at relieving inflammation of the fascia, like ice packs, physical therapy, footwear modification and anti-inflammatory therapy. I get pain in feet mostly in the heels part when I wake up in morning. What is the reason?
Heel Pain: Get treated with Ultrasonic therapy which would directly heal the calcaneal spur (inflammation of the calcaneum bone) which causes the heel pain in majority of the cases. Along with ultrasonic therapy, shortwave diathermy also can be given. Simultaneously it is better to wear MCR chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area. Simultaneously it is better to wear MCR chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the Plantar Fascitis weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area. You shall do contrast bath to relieve this pain. Contrast bath is nothing but keeping in one tub hot water (bearable heat) and in another tub cold water Ask your father to apply ice in the painful area which would definitely help to greater extent. If still the pain persists then it is better to keep TENS stimulation at one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics.

3 Best Exercises to Build Your Core to Prevent Injuries

I  Core Foam Roll

Core muscles are critical in most daily movements, and therefore are often overused and tight. Since the core muscles don’t bear weight, their limitations and tightness often go unnoticed. Use the foam roller to alleviate tension in the outer muscles of the core.

1.Lie on your left side with the foam roller under your mid-torso. Place your left arm on the floor to prop up your upper body, and stack your legs right over left with knees slightly bent to support the lower body.

2.Roll up and down your side between the mid-torso and hips. If you feel as pot that’s tender or tight, spend more time working that area. Perform the rolling movement for 15 to 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite side.

II  Standing Half Moon

Flexibility of the spine is important for good posture and mobility. This modified yoga pose improves the lateral flexibility of the spine, but also warms up all the muscles of the core.

1.Stand tall with your arms extended overhead, palms facing together, and your feet shoulder width apart. Your core should be tight and your neck long and even.

2.Gently extend your spine by bending at the waist and reaching as far right as you can, until you feel a stretch along your left side. Hold for 30 seconds, then repeat on the left side.

TIP: If you sit in a chair all day, try a seated half moon pose to relieve tightness in your lower back and shoulders.

III  Quad Rock

Tight quadriceps and hip flexors can lead to nagging injuries. The quad rock can increase the flexibility of these muscles by actively increasing their length throughout the movement.

1. Begin the stretch in a flat tabletop position with both yourhands and knees shoulder widthapart and your back flat.Rock your hips back towardyour heels while extending yourarms out in front. 

2.Reach back with your hips as far as possible. Return to the start position and rock your hips forward until your shoulders are slightly in front of your hands. Feel the stretch along the abdomen, quadriceps, and hip flexors.
