Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretchingstretch.

Hi. I have an ACL tear. I want to know if surgery is the only solution or it can be healed with medicines.
Surgery should be done. This is done to avoid degenerative effects on your knee , usually patients with ACL rupture have osteoarthritis - after 10 yrs of acl rupture. osteoartritis of the knee at an early age also will require a major surgery , so to avoid that - you should regain strength of your knee by doing an ACl ligament reconstruction and protect your knee from osteoarthritis. Change food habites. Add in your daily food calcium, vitamines,minirales, green vegitabales, salad,milk end milk products, dry fruites, fruites,etc. You take R compound tabet 2 after breakfast, 2 after lunch, 2 after dinner for one month than 2 after lunch end 2 after dinner. How to treat simple ankle sprain ?

Simple ankle sprain can be treated with: rest ice crepe bandage elevation of the foot. If pain persists for more than 4-5 days it' s not simple sprain. You then need to get an xray done and consult an orthopedic surgeon.

Lybrate-user ji you hv not mentioned your age. Bt looking to your height your weight is ok not more so you do not need to reduce your weight. Bt you can take some precaution like do not use stairs as far as possible. Do not bend you knee more than 90 degree means do not squate. Use western toilet instead of indian toilet. While taking lunch dinner or breakfast use dinning table nd do not sit on floor. Nd yes if you can join a gym or go to a physiotherapist he wil guide you some exercise which wil strength your quadriceps muscle.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Ankle stretch calves get a custom made insole. Hams stretching. Sports taping. Hot fomentation.

I read somewhere that anger anxiety stress can darken facial complexion. Before one month someone very close cheated me so badly I was totally disturbed And I was having a mixed feeling anger anxiety but now I realize that I should not waste my precious life for that person. So I want my confidence and Old myself back. I was not dark in complexion but from last One month my face looks so dark and dull I have dark circle also. If it is due to stress or anger than is there anything that could bring me my fare and bright skin back. I don't want any side effects of medicine so I would prefer some homeopathic treatment. please help it is very important for me to GEt my confidence back:)

Medicines can not bring you confidence back nor can they improve complexion. For you to be happy and fairer you need to make new friends, or meet your old ones again. Talk to your brother or sister about your feelings. Attend some parties. All anger and anxiety will vanish.

Joint & back pain 1) do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) start natural calcium supplement. 3) do regular stretching exercise 4) in yoga do bhujangasan, halasan & suryanamaskar. Life-style correction 1) correct your sitting posture. 2) take small pillow or back rest for lower back. 3) foot should rest to floor easily. 4) take small break after 1 hr & walk few steps. 5) do neck & upper back extension, give feedback after 4 days.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear lybrate user perhaps it's postural defect it must b corrected, first.*calcium deficiency. May b another reason. He, should go for aerobics indeed under d supervision of a physiotherapist. * avoid to bend down to lift heavy weight. * homoeo - medicine * @ rhus to 200-6 pills thrice a day. @ ruta g 200-6 pills, thrice a day. * avoid, lifting at, cold intake, wrong posture, sitting on computer late in d night plz, report wkly.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana? lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
