Dear experts/specialists, Please help. I have an issue with bad breath. I visit dentist once in a year and according to him my teeth are very clean and maintained. Whatever bad breath is coming, it is occurring due to poor digestion, nasal drip or due to throat issue. Fyi, I have a running nose tendency while eating food, brushing teeth. I myself feel the bad breath within throat area and always feel that some food particles are stuck in throat and that is causing bad breath. Also, I read on Google that this may be due to liver not functioning properly. I want to get rid of this bad breath issue permanently so please guide about next to do's, which kind of doctor shall I see in Pune etc? Any help, advice would be highly appreciated.

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dear Lybrate user, if you're facing indigestion issues or nasal drip, you should consult a gastroenterologist and pulmonologist (respiratory specialist) in your area. You might need to modify your diet a little. The doctor might prescribe you medicines to get rid of this problem. Try to take your meals well in time and don't lie down for at least 1 hour after eating. You can try some homeopathic or ayurvedic treatments as well. First get the check up done, get to the root cause of your problem and pursue the treatment accordingly.

My son is 16 months old and he is on his teething the molars and having loose motion twice in a day is that normal and he refuses to eat anything what shall I do in this condition?

Post Graduate Cert in Microdentistry, Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
The loose motions during teething is primarily due to the habit of the toddlers to put everthing in their mouth and bite on it. The certainity of every thing being clean when they put it in their mouth cannot be judged and this leads to the upset stomach. Buy a good teether to help him chew/gnaw on that and try keeping other things from entering his mouth. This will help.

Dr. bad breath is long lasting problem after cleaning teeth solve problem. permanently. If it no then how.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Halitosis ( bad breath ) is the third most common reason that people seek dental care (after tooth decay and gum disease). The most common cause of bad breath is poor dental hygiene. As bacteria break down particles of food, sulfur compounds are produced that cause odor.Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. Bacteria cause the formation of toxins to form, which irritate the gums. If gum disease continues untreated, it can damage the gums and jawbone

In 2008 I got my right side lower jaw wisdom tooth removed next tooth root canal was done in September this year severe pain started visited dentist he took an X-Ray & said infection in root canal as it was not properly done. Re-Root canal got done but again suddenly pain started Dr. advised to take Metrogyl 400 for 5 days pain stopped, cement filling was done & Cap was fixed but from second day pain again started I visited Dentist again he says will remove cap & filling keep it open with some cement in it for few months the infection will automatically go & then he will fill & fix the cap is this procedure correct? Please advice.

PGPPH, BDS, Certified Implantologist
Dentist, Hyderabad
Dear. This is very unfortunate that your RCT was not properly done. When root canal treatment works, it is a great treatment–a great way to save your tooth. However, in about 5% to 15% of the cases, a root canal or endodontic treatment will have failed. Right now your doctor is killing infection and bacteria using antibiotics and allowing it to become infection free before sealing it again. It is the only way left. Just get an xray done again to see if there is any extra canal that need to be sealed or a sinus have developed. Continue with your medications.

I am 28 years old I have gum infection got bone loss will you advise the best treatment.

BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Seeing to the complaint I noticed that there is bone loss, flap surgery is the procedure to be performed along with adding bone graft but if the bone is angular then the bone graft will resist on the bone, once if you can send me your full mouth xray I can tell you otherwise see a dentist.

Gum disease is caused by a build-up of plaque and affects most people at some time in their life. There are two main stages of gum disease; gingivitis and periodontitis. One of the common signs of early gum disease is bleeding gums, especially when brushing teeth. See your oral health professional if you notice signs of gum disease as they can help prevent it from becoming more serious.

My front teeth (lower right lateral and lower right central and lower left central) are shaking little bit I am not experiencing pain or something but its shaking little bit what are the treatments that I have to undergo to make the shaking tooth strong and firm again?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Shaking a little bit may be due. Excessive biting force applied on that area. Any trauma in that area. Sometimes any gum disease can also cause a little shaking just consult a dentist and know the cause of that shaking. Treatment can be given according to the cause minor shaking can be treated by splinting. And also by doing some bite corrections.

I am very worry of my teeth because there is very much space in between my teeth and I wanna get rid of this ?

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist, Jamshedpur
You need to go to an orthodontist. To manage spaces between teeth braces are the option. If the space is between front teeth the gap will be filled by adding tooth coloured restorative materials on mesial and distal surface of the tooth.

From a news site I came to know that presence of fluoride in water causes damages to bones and other nervous systems. If it is true then is tooth paste with fluoride is injurious to health?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Visit a dentist. The method of acidic micro abrasion, followed by remineralisation procedures, assures a considerable recovery of the dental surfaces affected by fluorosis. Best way is capping or veneers for upper front 6 teeth & lower front 6 teeth. Until then use tooth mousse tooth paste. Apply this paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

I sleep very less, as less as 2-3 hours a day, still I don't feel sleepy, side effects, ulcers in mouth, dry mouth, and low concentration, what to do?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Although there is no cure for mouth ulcers and they often reoccur, you may be able to reduce their frequency with good dental hygiene and by: avoiding foods that irritate your mouth, including acidic or spicy foods avoiding irritation from gum chewing brushing with a soft-bristled brush after meals and flossing daily, which will keep your mouth free of foods that might trigger a sore. Seek medical advice about mouth ulcers if you have: unusually large sores sores that are spreading sores that last three weeks or longer intolerable pain despite avoiding trigger foods and taking over-the-counter pain medication difficulty drinking enough fluids a high fever with the appearance of the mouth ulcer (s)
