My baby is 7months old can any doc prescribed me what all foods should I start to my baby. As she is too weak.

General Physician,
My baby is 7months old can any doc prescribed me what all foods should I start to my baby. As she is too weak.
1. From the 7th month onward you can start feeding thrice a day as proper breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Now also breast feeding is the major source of nourishment to the baby, so please do not quit breast feeding. The feeding times can be around 9 am, 1 pm and 5 pm 2. The quantity for each feed in this month will be roughly the size of your baby’s fist and in terms of liter around 90 to 100 ml. 3. The consistency can be little thick and should stay in the spoon without spilling off. 4. Always feed a baby seated and not in sleeping position. 5. Sterilize all the utensils that are being used for cooking and feeding. 6. Please follow the 3 Day Rule before introducing any new food. I have structured the charts in a such way that the baby is gradually introduced to heavier diets, so I would advice you to follow the same order. I suppose baby is not having fever and taking feed well and if weight is about 3.75 to 4.0 kg, you need not to worry. There is no need of either ambrodil or antibiotic which are of no use. Vomiting after feed is usually regurgitaion. Burping and right posture is solution. Saline nasal drop is safe and may be effective.

She is breast feeding now and 6 months have passed she is 32c size of breast What happens if she stops breast feeding her child and stores tht milk in her breast only.

MBBS, MD
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
Six months on breast milk is insufficient for growing child. In almost 75% case. So we recommend six hrly breast feeds. Milk stored in breast it self is never sore or unhygienic.

My daughter of age 3 is suffering from premature hair whitening what should I do immediately.
Is there any family h/o premature greying? to treat homeopathically, we need further more infrmtion like how was her health previously, mile stones, her activity, nature, wt etc. But rt now I suggest you to follow few health tips. Home remedies to follow. Try to rub red hibiscus flower's petals (mandhaara) over scalp, specially over the effected area daily once r twice. Boil til or coconut oil with the dried petals of same red hibiscus flowers, fw fenu greek seeds (methi),&curry leaves&filter it &apply daily over the scalp&hair with gentle massage. *give her soaked fenu greek seeds daily on morning to swallow (minimum 8-10 seeds). **use more curry leaves&methi leaves in making curry or roties. As she is 3 years old only, she may not eat all these. So make these powders &add in curries or roties&let het eat with some desirable flavour like ghee (cow ghee is good). Daily give her soaked&peeled out almonds minimum 8-10, apricots&walnuts.

Teaching your child proper oral care at a young age is an investment in his or her health that will pay lifelong dividends. You can start by setting an example; taking good care of your own teeth sends a message that oral health is something to be valued. And anything that makes taking care of teeth fun, like brushing along with your child or letting them choose their own toothbrush, encourages proper oral care.

To help your children protect their teeth and gums and greatly reduce their risk of getting cavities, teach them to follow these simple steps:

1. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove plaque-the sticky film on teeth that's the main cause of tooth decay.

2. Floss daily to remove plaque from between your teeth and under the gumline, before it can harden into tartar. Once tartar has formed, it can only be removed by a professional cleaning.

3. Eat a well-balanced diet that limits starchy or sugary foods, which produce plaque acids that cause tooth decay. When you do eat these foods, try to eat them with your meal instead of as a snack-the extra saliva produced during a meal helps rinse food from the mouth.

4. Use dental products that contain fluoride, including toothpaste. Make sure that your children's drinking water is fluoridated. If your water supply; municipal, well or bottled does not contain fluoride, your dentist or pediatrician may prescribe daily fluoride supplements. Take your child to the dentist for regular checkups.

Hi all, My friend have 4 years old son, we couldn't find his left side testis, we noticed this before 6 months only no other having this problem in his circle, he not feeling any pain there and hE is healthy like other child, will it make any problem to his feature, what kind of specialist we need to consult.

MD - Paediatrics

Hi all,
My friend have 4 years old son, we couldn't find his left side testis, we noticed this before 6 months only n...
Ideally undescended testis should be surgically replaced within say before 1 year of age. After birth if testis is not in the say then chances of malignant changes increase with every passing month. Initially hormonal therapy may be attempted but if no descent then surgery recommended before 1 year age. It is to be noted with late replacement of testis there's three risk *risk of testicular malignancy *risk of infertility *psychological distress to the child review urgently with a pediatric surgeon and get him treated as soon as possible. Hope this helps.

My daughter age is 7 years. Since one month, pus is discharging from her left ear with bad smell. Already consulted an E.N.T. Specialist. He suggested to use candid ear dropsfor 10 days. But invain.

MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Aurangabad
Hello, Probably your daughter is having a fungal infection of the outer ear . If she is not responding to Candid ear drops , then she may require an examination of ear under microscope ( called otomicroscopy ) and suction clearance. This will help in faster healing as well as a confirmed diagnosis / to rule out any other ear pathology.

Now my child is 2 yrs. 6 M, can i admit him in nursery now or next year ?

DMB
Pediatrician,
You can admit in any form of group activity such as a play school or nursery. Advantages of admitting him are development of better communication skills, social skills and confidence building. The negative aspects are repeated coughs and colds, some loose stools, hand foot and mouth disease. The illnesses will all be minor and the influence on development far outweighs the risks. So go ahead, find a clean and safe place for your child.

Daily Habits That Have Been Damaging Your Teeth!

Daily Habits That Have Been Damaging Your Teeth!

Using tooth picks

The worst habit you could possibly have when you have food lodgement in the mouth is using a tooth pick to get rid of it. We often try and use this as an acceptable habit even socially but few things are grosser than watching people pick out food bits after meals. If you have a cavity get it fixed. We have numerous cases where the toothpicks have either injured the gums and caused a larger infection or even worse broken in the cavity and triggered of even more pain. So stay safe from dental emergencies do not use tooth picks! while it's important to prevent food lodgement in the mouth and keep your mouth clean use things like brushes interdental brushes and floss sticks or dentists to help you do the same without harming you!

Using a hard or medium brush.

The oldest myth we have seen is brushing your teeth with a hard or medium brush. Please terminate this habit right away ensure you switch to a soft brush at the earliest.

We do not need more teeth ruined or worn off due to overzealous brushing. We see cases with the entire left side worn down and sensitive and I can tell the person is a right handed vigorous brusher. The softer the brush the better it bends and cleans between teeth as well. The gums also recede due to repeated trauma from the hard bristles so save your mouth from these constant attacks in the name of cleaning.

Scrubbing your teeth

The same principle applies when you switch from a hard to soft or extra soft brush don't apply so much pressure that the teeth and gums are still braving the injury.

You need to brush gently as though cleaning glass the force being minimum the reach and coverage being maximum!

So scrubbing is a habit we need to stop.

Not brushing at night

One of the best things we can do to avoid the dentist or any dental troubles is brushing at night. When it comes to cleaning your teeth frequency matters more than force. Ensuring you clean every 12 hours makes bacterial attacks that cause decay inactive so whenever we skip brushing at night we may not realise but it's definitely costing us.

Popping painkillers

The first sign of dental pain and we instinctively choose to ignore it hoping it will go away and if it doesn't we want to go ahead and pop a painkiller till it does. Masking the problem will actually make it bigger -while we all know this we prefer to accept the instant relief the medication provides over the tedious dental visit that may end with bad news. But imagine if we had gone at the very first sign of trouble most likely we would get away with a dental cleaning -the later we go the more often we need to go for extensive treatments.

Let's try and muster the courage to nip these problems in the bud -a habit to develop show up at the very first sign of trouble.

Do it yourself dentistry (diy) at home

We have all been our own dentists at some point!

From self medication to oral applications and home remedies when all else fails we make an appointment.

A few things are harmful and should be used with care when attempting our own dental care.

We recommend mild things like oral rinses or applications which relieve pain but do not use aspirin or any other pain killer to crush and put in the site, that can cause burns.

Also clove oil is a safe remedy but not cloves which can be sharp and hurt your cheek.

Do not try to remove shaking teeth or attempt any procedures the bleeding can be profuse and the damage severe.

In case of trauma ice to freeze the blows and water to clean the wound will work best.

In the age of technology and information let's not fall prey to easily avoidable dental habits that harm you more than they help you.

Write to us or call us at 9209200024 if you have any queries.

Injections are to make lungs more mature in those who are going to deliver prematurely. However final answer can not be given as I don't know your due date.

Of course cold things shall be avoided. Allergic problems have simple tactics to follow. If your baby is not comfortable with few things. Try to avoid it. Have proper hand hygiene and hygiene of oral cavity to avoid frequent infection. Tonsils and throat of babies are usually reactive to cold things and beverages so these precautions are needed till 8-10 years of age approximately. Regards.

I have a 8 years old daughter. She is a old case of atopic dermatitis. However between age 2-6 she had no problems. Now her IgE level is 1600. Her condition worsens when she catches cold, eats nuts, chips and chocolates. She responds only to topical steroids namely mometasone furoate. Which medicine can help reduce her IgE levels?

MD Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Hyderabad
Consult your paediatrician if its very frequent. There is no medicine to reduce the ige levels but you can take certain precautions to avoid such situations. Avoid exposure to dust, cold air/breeze, cold beverages, artificial flavours and chemicals such as cakes, ice cream and chocaltes.
