The best sources of calcium are: Dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt (low-fat ones are best – skimmed and semi-skimmed milk contains more calcium than full-fat milk). Calcium-enriched varieties of milks made from soya, rice or oats. Fish that are eaten with the bones (such as sardines). Arthritis Research UK recommends a daily intake of calcium of 1,000 milligrams (mg), with added vitamin D if you’re over 60. Iron Iron Iron is important in preventing anaemia and many people with arthritis are anaemic. Anti-inflammatory drugs to help treat arthritis help the pain and stiffness of arthritis but may cause bleeding and stomach ulcers in some people, leading to anaemia. The other main cause of anaemia in arthritis is anaemia of chronic disease, which often occurs with rheumatoid arthritis and similar conditions and doesn’t improve with iron supplements. Good sources of iron are: Red meat Oily fish e.g. sardines, salmon, mackerel etc Pulses e.g. lentils and haricot beans Dark green vegetables e.g. spinach, kale and watercress. Your body absorbs iron better if you take it with vitamin C, so have fruit juice or a good portion of fruit or vegetables with your meal. It’s best not to drink tea with your meal as this reduces the amount of iron that your body can absorb.

Assuming there is no history of injury from past 1 week, may be the pain is due to osteoarthritis, you need to get an x- ray done, to rule out that. First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Do not attempt to pop the shoulder back in yourself. Serious damage can occur to nerves and other blood vessels if it is done incorrectly. Apply ice or cold therapy immediately. Ice can be applied for 15 minutes every hour to help with the pain and swelling. Specialist cold therapy shoulder wraps are particularly good as they apply both cold therapy and compression at the same time. If a reduction is not possible immediately, a sling may be applied to take the weight off the arm. Making a sling.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Runner's Knee - 4 Most Important Exercises for it

Runner’s knee is a very common problem with athletes. It is definitely not something one needs to worry about. In fact, with certain exercises, it can be prevented and if you do develop a runner’s knee, it can be treated with some exercises as well.

There are special sports medical practitioners who prescribe not only regular physiotherapy, but also specific exercises to deal with specific sports injuries. To fight with runner’s knee pain, there are a few exercises.

But the four most important ones are described in detail below.

  1. Quads: For performing proper quads, all you need is a back wall for additional support. You need to hold yourself against the wall and keep your legs apart from each other. The legs should be folded in the knees. In this position, you have to move up till the knee position with a minimum of one minute hold time in the knee position. You can repeat this exercise 10 times at a stretch before moving on to the next exercise.
  2. Hamstring: This is a fairly easier exercise than the previous one. You have to stand straight with your legs apart. Bend downwards from your hips. Relax your neck and back. Ease your head downwards as well. Keep your hands behind. Join both your hands and give it a stretch. If you think that this position is straining your neck or back a little too much, then you can simply stretch your hands without joining them.
  3. Calves: Calves is a standard exercise that is prescribed by medical practitioners and physiotherapists for easing out the pain caused by runner’s knee. You have to stand with your hand against the wall. Put your left leg forward and bend it at the knees. Stand on your right heel. Hold yourself in this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the legs and doing the same.
  4. Lateral: Lateral is also one of the easiest and common forms of exercises. You have to stand with your legs directly below your hips. Then stretch your right leg apart. Without bending your knees, try to touch the toes of your right leg with the fingers of your left hand. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the position and performing the lateral with your left leg.

Thus, these are some of the very fundamental exercises that one should follow in order to get quick relief from the pains of a runner’s knee. These exercises are very easy and help in reducing pain. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a orthopedist.

Dear lybrate user, the pain & burning in leg could be associated with neuropathy of nerve distributed at legs. When there is neuropathy no pain medication will help, rather drugs specific to reduce neuropathic pain & burning will help, these medication can only be prescribed after thorough clinical evaluation. The pain and numbness can also be associated with tb drug specifically isoniazid. One more thing where she is having tb, spine or somewhere else. Kindly consult neurologist or interventional pain specialist for management of pain with burning sensation or consult tb physician for possibility of alteration in tb drug (inh. Regards.

Hi, My age is 21 year old. I'm a volleyball player. 2 months back I got hit in my knee when i'm defending my opponent. Very next moment I felt intense pain I can't even stretch and fold my leg. I haven't played past 2 months now I can walk normally, but when I jump and allow some twist & rotating motion to my knee it pains severe. What should I do? please help me.

It may be a meniscus injury or a ligament tear. Can't tell diagnosis unless examination is done. Please visit knee specialist. Get an mri of knee is possible. It should be 3 tesla mri, which has better clarity than 1.5 tesla mri.

Hello lybrate-user, as am able to asses that your issue is more psychological rather than physical, may be you have some kind of anxiety issues back of your mind. Pain in neck and back of head may also a result of stress and anxiety. Lack of concentration is occur due to preoccupation of mind. That's why we feel distracted and disconnected to our surroundings, which leads to unnecessary frustration and anger. Do not feel low and you can recover easily from these kind of issues. I am having back pain from some time, is it due to my rotational work shifts? I have different work time every week Ist week 9am-6pm next week 1.30pm-10.30pm then 8pm-5am and it rotates or is it due to travelling, My work place is 35 kms away it takes me 1hr 15mins to 1hr 30min to reach and I travel by company bus.
