I am a 20 yrs old girl. I have got headache from last 2 days. My half head is aching. What to do?
Hi Headache could be because of various reasons. Your headache could be due to stress/fatigue/tension or it could be an indication to another type of headache called migraine. Since the exact cause of your headache and symptoms are not known, I would advise the following - 1. Try to take rest for 1-2 hours. 2. Distract yourself from TV/ Computer or anything that puts a pressure on your eyes and head. 3. Keep yourself stress free. 4. Try to take adequate sleep. 5. Take Tablet Paracetamol 500mg after taking food. Share with me your symptoms in detail including status of your blood pressure, I can advice accordingly. Get Well Soon ?Yoga/meditation has a great relaxation power.?

I am 21 years old, I am suffering from cold from last 3 days. Could you please suggest me any medicine. So that I may free from this disease. Please answer me as early as possible because it is too troubles me.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold—they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water. The germs stick to the soap and get washed down the drain. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough- Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, or Mouth-Germs are often spread when a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. Stay Home When You’re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don’t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. Routinely clean and disinfect common areas of your home. Treatment:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn’t need medical treatment. Complications include bacterial infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs which must be treated with antibiotics. In general you should: • get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold • staying at home will keep you from spreading germs • drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep Runny Nose and Sneezing- if you have post nasal drip, gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. (avoid sugary and high calorie drinks) Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation • Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. • Humidify the rooms you are in most or your whole house if possible. • Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Cough-Coughing is how your body gets rid of debris and mucus from the airways during a viral infection. Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. A severe cough can be treated with a cough syp, but don’t try to completely stop the cough. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive or dry cough. Non-productive, dry cough. A dry, hacking cough may develop near the end of a cold. Dry coughs that follow viral colds are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Cough drops can sooth an irritated throat, but most don’t affect the cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough. Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

Begin your day with a physical exercise which will not only bring strength and stamina but will elevate your mood. Try to be positive in your approach. Its normal to be '' not perfect '' all the time. Try having a pleasant time with your spouse and try to understand better the needs of your better-half. ( Loving and caring should be the firm ground on which your intimate relationship should be built.). Invest time on healthy habits for both of you. Eat healthy (have fruits and vegetables everyday) and exercise everyday. Try to learn yoga (both of you) as it can relax you naturally and improve the quality of life overall.

Dear Lybrateuser, -Your head pain could be due to weakness because of improper diet, improper light while reading leading to eye strain & headache, improper sleep & position of pillow - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & green leafy vegetables, wholegrains, protein foods, healthy fats, have healthy snacks in between meals like a fruit, nuts, salad, yogurt - have 8-10 glasses of water for proper hydration per day -use proper lighting when reading -sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, try to keep your sleep & awake timings fixed -use a firm pillow which supports the neck & shoulders while sleeping - if pain is more take a pain relief tablet after meals.

I am 19 male. I am having continuous mouth ulcers and it it more pain full I couldn't eat. I am having this problem for past 2 years. If it comes it will cure within 10 days but after 1 week I am having this again. Pls help me I should not get this disease in future.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Black stools could be due to bleeding in the gut (gastro intestinal tract - like esophagus, stomach, intestines). It could also be due to medication like iron supplements. Oral hypoglycemic drugs do not necessarily cause black stools. I would advise you to consult a good gastroenterologist. She needs to have a thorough assessment and she may have a gastroscopy and colonoscopy and further investigations like CT scan etc to know the cause of the black stool. Thank you.

My mom is diabetic and she is suffering from nerve damage. She is nearly 80 is there any suggestions.
lybrate-user, Peripheral neuropathy is usually observed in almost every single patient with long term diabetes. In such situation most important is to maintain a strict blood glucose control with fasting blood glucose level closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c%<7. Plus patient needs to be put on certain drugs which help in controlling pain and burning sensation. Plus patient should take care that there are no injuries to either toes or feet, as sensation is either altered or less. Therefore the injuries can become very serious problem. Should always wear a comfortable foot wear at home and outside. Thanks.

1) A person who can do as much physical activity as you do with no problems can only do so because the heart is healthy. 2) since all your tests are fine you can further be reassured. 3) Get a TMT if you are over-concerned, if that is normal your heart is fine. 4) Also please consult a psychiatrist for some psychotherapy to help you get over your anxiety. This unnecessary stress is not going to keep you heart attack free, all you can do is maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat healthy and exercise daily and get annual medical evaluation.

Dear user. PENILE ITCHING could be due to many factors. Men who are uncircumcised (who have the foreskin remaining around the penis) are prone to balanitis, an inflammation of the foreskin that is often caused by poor hygiene, irritation, or infections. Penile itch is not an emergency, but it may be a sign of a disease that can be transmitted to others. Please consult a doctor for physical investigation which is essential for diagnosis. Take care.
