I am suffering from stammering and I am 19 years old, female. While at home and talking to other people I stammer less but whenever I find myself in public places when I have to face public and speak I stutter alot and sometimes I have blockage due to which I am unable to even speak, I also get nervous and my stomach also hurts while speaking, I also start making faces while speaking and it gets difficult to take out words out of my mouth. Dear lybrate-user, You can consult a speech therapist and attend a personality development course. Add, a clinical psychologist to the list. Those therapists know the extent of your problem and their limitations. At some stage, they may refer you to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist may offer an antidepressant and/or anxiolytic drug for few months in addition. I hope you have done ENT check up.

Hi, 3 years ago, the people i trusted most cheated me for all my money. Then they verbally humiliated me for trusting them. I am suffering the pain inflicted by the humiliation. Dear Jyotsna, Congratulations for taking care, understanding and helping your husband for 6 years. Please let me know, what medicines you were giving him to avoid alcohol. It may be Ativan kind of tablets. Is he now dependent on Ativan or some other sleeping pill? He may be still in depression and that is why he is still dependent on pills. He needs proper treatment for depression along with getting him out of sleeping pills. Otherwise he may shift from one dependence to another to get some relief from depression. Please take help from the doctor who gave medicines to avoid alcohol. He may help you to diagnose depression or sleep disorder in Vikas and help you out.

For my seizure I take medication Twice a day which are following 1.Zenoxa 300 (oxcarbazepine tablets IP 300 mg) 2.Lacotide 150 (Lacosamide Tablets 150 mg) taking twice aday after taking it from 3 days after taking this medicine i feel like i was just drunk 4 bottle of wine what i should have to do just suggest me Doctor.

Cognitive behaviour therapy works better in OCD, anxiety disorder and depression , but it may take long time to cure unless it is combined with some medications. CBT is a form of psychotherapy and if combined with pharmacotherapy it works best.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Memory depends on understanding, retention and recollection. To retain any information for long time, you need to understand perfectly and to recite more. Once the information is understood, retained, the recollection becomes easy for the brain. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, social activities etc also helps immensely. Diet rich in fruits and vegetables, nuts, cereals etc helps. I suggest online educational counselling and effective learning methods. Take care.

Dear lybrate user, you appear sad. There must be some reason why you are feeling like this at the age of 37 years. I think, probably you have become dependent on your medicines. You will need conscious efforts to taper it down after consulting your doctor. It will be very helpful if you start counselling sessions along with medication. The counsellor will help you to understand the root cause of your anxiety and then will help you to modify your thoughts and behaviour. This will reduce your anxiety. Once this is done, your doctor and your counsellor together can help you to get rid of medicines. All the best.

Hi lybrate-user, I understand your fear but can you see you just wrote whole sentences with punctuation marks and full words. Realize that you can cope with it. Practice mental rehearsal - doing well and deep breathing exercise to calm your anxiety. The above written question is a proof for that. Revert back all the best.

1. Do regular aerobic exercise like brisk walking/jogging/running/cycling/swimming for 1 hour daily 2. Reduce weight 3control diet 4. Avoid sweets, sugar, oily, fatty, excess calorie/cholesterol, saturated fat and carbohydrate rich diet. Take green leafy vegetables/fruits/salads. Drink plenty of water. Avoid junk food, bakery items like pizza/burger/cookies, soft drink, alcohol etc 5. Do yoga, pranayama, deep breathing exercise.

I tried all to convert my mind but my thoughts are running same there is no change I am feeling very depressed I am 19 years old what should I do to overcome from depression I consulted psychiatrist also. Dear lybrate-user you need to consult any professional as soon as possible, medicines along with counselling can help. Life is very precious we get only 1 life so enjoy as much as you can there are many colours in life ,only the difference lies in our approach just think about patient who is suffering from cancer at last stage that patient will desperately want to live as much as he/she can ,i know by only saying its really difficult to manage ,but you have to divert your mind, try to make yourself busy as much as you can so that no other type of thoughts come. And if still thought comes then write it on paper and also write that you will think on this topic at some other time mention the time and say to yourself that at now I am suppose to do some other work ,you can take the help of counsellor regarding this. Make some new friends, try to chat on fb ,but anyhow you have to make yourself busy, increase social activities, you can do anulom vilom yoga and some deep breathing exercise, join any hobby class, listen loud music as it will interfere with your thought, you can make some plan with friends, make any good friend so that by sharing you will feel good. Epilepsy is a form of chronic disorder and it is characterized by recurrent seizures. The episodes of epileptic seizures may differ from person to person. These seizures could be a result of genetic disorder or a result of trauma or stroke. During a seizure, a patient may also experience symptoms of neurological disorders and sometimes lose consciousness.

Medical help for epilepsy
Epilepsy itself cannot be cured using medication, but proper medicines help in eliminating recurrent seizures. These medicines stabilize the electrical activity within the brain preventing seizures.

How effective is the medication for epilepsy?
The success of controlling seizures using medicines depends on the type and severity of the epilepsy. Medicines for epilepsy are usually very effective and may fully keep seizures under control. However, controlling seizures caused due to brain problems may be more difficult. Usually, epilepsy medicines can control seizures for a long period of time when they are taken regularly.

When is medical help needed?
The decision about when to start medicines for epilepsy is a tricky one. This is because a first seizure cannot confirm whether a person has an on-going epilepsy problem. A second seizure may occur after many years or may not happen at all. Prediction of seizures is also quite difficult.

The severity of seizures also indicates when to start medicines for treatment. In case a first seizure is quite severe, medication should be started at once. Some people have very mild seizures even though they may be recurring in nature, and medication can be avoided in this situation.

All the pros and cons must be thought over before starting medications for the treatment of epilepsy. It is advisable to wait for a second seizure and then start medications for treatment. In most cases, medication is started after a second seizure occurs, twelve months within the first seizure. For making the most out of the medicines to control seizures, you should follow certain steps:
1. You must take medications exactly as your doctor has prescribed.
2. Before switching to generic versions of your medicines or before taking other prescribed medicines, you must consult your doctor.
3. You should never stop taking the medicines.
4. In case you experience enhanced depression, mood swings and suicidal thoughts, you should talk to your doctor immediately.
5. In case you have migraine, you should let your doctor know so that he can prescribe you anti-epileptic medicines, which also prevent migraines.

Medicines cannot treat the underlying cause of epilepsy, but these help in controlling seizures and this is the most common symptom of epilepsy. Medication should be started at a proper time and must be continued without stopping.
