Hi lybrate-user, These home remedies for shoulder pain could be the trick for finding relief. 1. Sleep - Try a supported sleep position. Lay on your good side and place a pillow in front of your body. Rest your bad shoulder on this pillow for support. 2. Stand (And Sit) Up Straight - This is particularly important if you spend your days sitting at a desk. When sitting, try placing a small pillow or cushion behind your lower back. Improving your lower back support will, in turn, improve your upper body posture. To improve your standing posture, pay special attention to how you hold your shoulder blades. Made sure they are down and back. 3. Epsom Salt - Fill your bath tub with warm to hot water, and pour in two cups of epsom salt. Mix thoroughly until the salt dissolves. Get in the bath and submerge your shoulder. Repeat three times weekly. For an added benefit, use lavender epsom salts. Lavender epsom salts make a for great stress relief remedy! 4. Turmeric - Turmeric is anti-inflammatory by nature, making it a great home remedy for swelling and pain. Try mixing two tablespoons of turmeric and one tablespoon of coconut oil to make a potent anti-inflammatory paste. Apply to the shoulder in pain twice daily. 5. Neck Release - Sit up straight. Slowly lower your chin to your chest, as if nodding yes, until you feel a stretch in the back of your neck. You can lean your head to the side opposite your bad shoulder for an extra stretch. Hold up to one minute in each direction. Repeat 3-5 times. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Dear lybrate-user, take your mom for mri for lumbar region may be she got spondylitis in l5 s1 level. If its confirmed then she needs physiotherapy treatment to reduce pain. Hello. I had a small plate removal surgery 2 months back. After giving proper time to recovery I started working out. After some time I noticed that my hand has lost some muscle. The hand with surgery is not in shape as the other had. The bicep size has also reduced to half inch. I want to recover the muscle and get my both hands in same shape. What should I do.

MBBS, MD - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Orthopedist, Mumbai
Dear lybrate-user, Your problem is due to disuse wasting of the involved side probably due to the fear factor. Since the plate has been removed the union must be good. You can slowly exercising the hand in graded manner. An occupational therapist can show you the activities by which you can regain your upper limb function. Initially you can start with moving all the joints of the arm through full range of movements starting with the small joints of the hand ,wrist, elbow, and shoulder. You can slowly progress to weighted exercises using 2 kg dumbbells slowly increasing the weight. Try to do all activities with both hands.

I am feeling that I am suffering from mild kyphosis. What I have to do please explain about any devices available to treat kyphosis.please help .

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Postural kyphosis can usually be treated with physical therapy to help strengthen the muscles of your back and correct your posture. Mild pain relievers and antiinflammatory medications can also help with symptoms. These curves do not continue to worsen with time or lead to more serious complications. Surgery is not needed for postural kyphosis.

Your workload is not loading your back. It's the way you work is loading it. You need ergonomic corrections to minimise job site hazards and do give 10mins a day to neutralize your stresses. Physical and mental. Back pain will be persistent until you learn to correct your bad habits. Visit a Physiotherapist for evaluation and strengthening Dial 9820011774 for any assistance
