I had three front teeth implanted three months back. I do not have any pain or discomfort but the impanted set shakes when I touch. Does this mean implant has failed?

Hi, you need to get a check up clinically to figure out if only the crowns are moving or crowns along with implants are moving in the jaw. If the implants are moving they need to be replaced but if only the crowns are moving they can be tighten. You can go back to your dentist who did your treatment and get the solution for the same.

Removable complete dentures can be made using different acrylic material qualities and different teeth set qualities so the cost may vary. Also you can get implant supported overdentures which are better than normal dentures as the denture is tightly held to the jaw with the help of 2 or more implants and patients can better bite and chew with it. You can personal consult me for more details.

Root Canal Treatment - Know How It Can Be Your Rescuer!

Root Canal Treatment - Know How It Can Be Your Rescuer!

A root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma. The term "root canal" comes from cleaning of the canals inside the tooth's root.

Millions of teeth are treated and saved each year with root canal, or endodontic, treatment. Learn more about root canal treatment and how it can relieve your tooth pain and save your smile.

The Procedure-

  1. A root canal procedure begins with an X-ray to determine the shape of the root canals and whether the infection has spread to the adjoining bone.

  2. Local anesthesia is then administered to numb the affected area.

  3. A rubber sheet is then placed around the tooth to keep the area and prevent it from the saliva.

  4. A hole is then drilled in the affected tooth, following which the decayed pulp and nerve tissues are removed.

  5. The removal is done by using root canal files which are inserted into the hole and then used to scrape and scrub the insides of the tooth.

  6. After the scraping, water is used to clean and flush out the debris.

  7. After the tooth is cleaned, it is sealed after administering medications to prevent infection.

  8. The sealing process involves filling the inner portion of the teeth by a rubber based compound and a sealer paste.

Modern endodontic treatment is very similar to having a routine filling and usually can be completed in one or two appointments, depending on the condition of your tooth and your personal circumstances. You can expect a comfortable experience during and after your appointment.

  • Saving the natural tooth with root canal treatment has many advantages:

  • Efficient chewing

  • Normal biting force and sensation

  • Natural appearance

  • Protects other teeth from excessive wear or strain

Post-obturation:

  1. Once the surgery is done, the tooth may become sensitive due to inflammation of the tissues for the first few days.

  2. This pain and inflammation can be limited by pain medications such as ibuprofen.

  3. It is advised to avoid any chewing by the affected teeth as it can slow down the repair process. You can brush and floss your teeth regularly.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. I'm having pulpitides on my two wisdom teeth. Now I'm taking antibiotics for three days. And I'm going to get my teeth removed 3 days later. The problem is that my heart rates keep accelerated, and I have some headaches too. Looks like my infections are not 100% under control. Q1, Can I still go for teeth extraction 3 days later? Or can I still wait for 3 days? Q2, What should I do to minimize any complication during and after the surgery? Thanks a billion.

Hello, it is a systemic problem. You need to consult a physician, and get your blood pressure and cardiac levels checked. Under the physician's recommendation, you can get your tooth removed or not.
