Please tell me doctors what is the meaning of polycystic ovary. It is in my report.

MBBS

Hi, polycystic ovary implies ovaries have unruptured follicles over it. It is due to hormonal imbalance. If you have irregular periods, excess androgen features like facial hair, acne, weight gain alongwith polycystic ovaries ,it is called polycystic ovarian syndrome. These patients usually have difficulty in becoming pregnant because of irregular egg release. Consult a gynecologist for further opinion and treatment.

I hav diagnosed with pcod from last 3 years. I get my periods when I take tablets. And I am married, me and my husband planning for a baby from last 6 months but I didn't conceive yet, even I am taking treatment for pcod. And my blood report says I hav high count of LH. My husband recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and has less sperm count, so now please suggest me what the further step? What is IUI and IVF? Please explain me in detail.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Iui means intrauterine insemination, means that the sperms are put around mouth of uterus by a sterile tiny pipe. It helps during ovulation days, guided by ultrasound ivf is in vitro fertilization or test tube baby unlike the procedure mentioned above where needles are not inserted in abdomen, here the egg is retrieved by special needle via vaginal route, guided by ultrasound. Many eggs are retrieved as medicines for ovulation stimulating are given sperms and eggs, fertilization takes place outside body and embryo is guarded for growth when it reaches 12 cells from one fertilized egg, it's carefully inserted within uterus and signs of implantation are watched by blood tests for beta hcg hormone once the levels of hormones are rising, the woman is put on further bed rest till her periods due date or may be more injections of beta hcg hormone and progesterone hormone supplements are given to retain pregnancy and to avoid miscarriage babies born through both modes are normal 1 st procedure is no trauma, 2 nd is done under general anesthesia.

The last time I had my regular period was last April this year, then I didn't had my period on the month after. Last June I had my period but it was just a small amount of blood and it never came since July. I've noticed that my stomach was getting bigger each day. I've never had sex or anything that will result to pregnancy or STDs. Never had any changes with my diet as well. What could probably the reason for this?

Hello- Reduced menstrual blood flow, irregular cycle and abdominal bulge denotes a unhealthy and inflamed uterus. It occurs due to improper diet like too much spices, curd, sour diet, less intake of other dairy products or due to improper daily schedule. It generally cause a type of deficiency in the body which causes weight loss, hair fall, dizziness, menstrual irregularities etc due to hormonal disturbances in the body. It can be corrected with enhanced dietary modifications and ayurvedic medicines.

I m suffering from the irregular periods. As well as I m a lots of pain during these days and the duration of my period days is becoming less n less now it has become 2 days I m overweight also. Do suggest.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. My suggestion is to get an ultrasound (pelvis) done to rule out PCOD. Share reports with me. For painful menses: Here are some tips to help you get rid of your problem: It is good to avoid fried, sour and protein rich foods in the last week of the menstrual cycle. Eat fish as it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which helps in easing contractions during menstruation Avoid eating dairy products, meat and poultry Maintain healthy and nutritious diet and perform yoga to help you stay away from problems If you are suffering from anemia, you should take food rich in iron Avoid vegetables like potato, eggplant, yellow pumpkin and try to concentrate on consuming drumsticks, papaya, white pumpkin, snake guard, cucumber and bitter guard When you experience pain, you can help reduce the pain by giving the area hot treatment. Drinking plenty of water and herbal tea also helps reduce pain and problems faced during menstrual periods. You can also perform yoga and some cardiovascular exercises that will help you get rid of these cramps. Last but not the least; take as much rest as possible. This will help you keep your menstruation under control. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Mag. Phos. 6x/ 5 tablets to be dissolved in ½ cup of water after every 2 hrly. till the pain lasts.

Is Homeopathy a Cure for Juvenile Arthritis?

MD - Homeopathy, Masters Degree of Homoeopathy
Homeopath, Mumbai
Is Homeopathy a Cure for Juvenile Arthritis?

Juvenile arthritis also known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and is a chronic, systematic and inflammatory disease, which causes damage to joints or damages of connective tissues. Symptoms include fever, rashes and hepato-spleenomegaly. This disease is persistent and  inflammatory in nature and occurs before the age of sixteen. Homeopathy is widely used to cure juvenile arthritis. Here is a list of the best homeopathic medicines used to treat juvenile arthritis along with the symptoms based on which they are prescribed.

  1. Abrotanum: This homeopathic medicine is used when a child is suffering from juvenile arthritis and is unable to move. Symptoms include soreness and paleness and the condition worsens in the morning. Gouts may occur in the wrists or ankles. Inflammatory rheumatism is indicated before the start of swelling. Marasmus of children may occur signified by marked emaciation, especially in the leg. The skin tends to hang loose and gets flabby. Constipation and diarrhea occur.
  2. Aconite: Aconite is a homeopathic remedy, which is used in arthritis where there is tearing pain in the limbs. Violent pulls in the joints and bones are experienced. Contraction of the tendons and feeling stiff in the flexor muscles are other symptoms.  Cramps affect several limbs. Aconite is used in early stages of juvenile arthritis. Atmospheric changes affect the patient, and dark hair, and eyes are developed. The muscle fibres becomes rigid.
  3. Apis: Apis is used in oedematous swellings and synovitis. The knee gets swollen, sensitive, sore and shiny along with stinging pain. The feet also swell and feel extra large. There is a rheumatic pain in the backside and in the limbs. The fingertips and hands become numb, and the patient is tired. Glands are enlarged or indurated.
  4. Arsenicum Album: This homeopathic medicine is used in juvenile arthritis where the patient experiences acute pain in the arms and hands. The pain begins from the elbow and extends to the armpits. There is an acute, pulling and shooting sensation in the  wrists. The fingers swell as well along with pain in the finger bones. Cramps occur in the legs and swelling is felt in the palms at night. The hips experience acute pain as well, which extends to the thighs, groins and ankle bones.
  5. Belladona: Belladona is used for joint and bone pains.  The pains generally increase at night and during the afternoon. Any kind of movement or touch leads to aggravation in the pain. Palpitations in muscles are caused. Cramps, spasms and movements which are convulsive are indicated.

Homeopathy is an ideal remedy for treatment of juvenile arthritis. Homeopathy being purely natural has no side effects and puts a check on all underlying causes of juvenile arthritis.

I am 28 years and having pcod. I am irregular with periods with a gap of 50-60 days. This month I didnt get periods after 75 days. What shall I do?

Advanced Aesthetics

Researchers have also linked insulin to pcos because many women with this condition also have too much insulin in their bodies. High levels of insulin cause the ovaries to produce more male hormones. Women with pcos have also been found to have low-grade inflammation, contributing to insulin resistance. The exact cause of pcos, however, is still unknown. Yet, genetics is considered an important factor as pcos seems to run in families. Spearmint tea can also help deal with pcos due to its anti-androgenic properties. A study published in the journal phytotherapy research found that drinking spearmint tea can help reduce hirsutism, or excess body hair, by reducing free and total testosterone levels and increasing luteinizing hormone (lh) and follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh) levels. 1. Boil one cup of water in a pan. 2. Add one teaspoon of dried spearmint leaves. 3. Let it simmer for five to 10 minutes. 4. Strain and drink this tea twice daily for a few weeks. Ayurvedic medicines r m2 tone syrup and ashokarishta for 3 months.
