Rhinoplasty - What You Should Know About It!

MBBS, MS- Surgery, MCh - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Rhinoplasty - What You Should Know About It!

We humans are obsessed with the way we look. This is despite the fact that we can only see what the mirror (or our pictures) shows and nobody can actually see their own faces. The nose is one part that very few are happy with. It is either too short, long, round, sharp, whatnot. To add to that, science has come up with the size and shape that can make one look beautiful. There are surgeries that can shape it up, so you can walk with your nose held high!!

Rhino, stands for nose, and plasty is for surgery. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which is useful in correcting the shape and size of the nose. Earlier done as a treatment for people with chronic nasal congestion and blocks, it has gained popularity as a cosmetic procedure in the recent decades.

Why rhinoplasty:

As noted, rhinoplasty could be done for cosmetic and therapeutic reasons, some of them being:

  1. Nose completely out of proportion with the facial size
  2. Misshapen tip of the nose, which could be drooping, hooked, or bulbous
  3. Nostrils not in proper position or misshapen
  4. Asymmetrical nostrils
  5. Nasal bridge having lumps or bumps
  6. Externally visible deviation of the nasal septum, causing both cosmetic and breathing issues

During the surgical reshaping, cartilage may be added or removed to achieve the desired shape.

What to expect before the procedure?

Getting yourself in the right hands. Think about it, in the wrong hands, this surgery can have very serious effects, not just functionally but also cosmetically. You could then end up wishing that you were better off with the previous, misshapen nose. After the surgery, you will notice a different you in the mirror, as the nose has a telling effect on a person’s appearance.

At the time of surgery:

Depending on the extent of surgery, local or general anesthesia is used. General is preferred though. With a local anesthesia, you will be aware of the sights and sounds of the surgery.

Post the procedure:

Once the procedure is over, gradually expect the following.

  • A puffy face, as the tissue around the eyes and the nose will be considerably swollen
  • The nose will be covered with a splint for at least a week. This allows the bones and cartilage to settle down in their new position.
  • Use a cold compresses to help in pain control and reduce swelling
  • Take the entire course of antibiotics and pain killers
  • Sleep with the head of the bed elevated for the first one week postoperatively

Rhinoplasty is definitely a choice to improve appearance and self-esteem; the key is to place yourselves in safe hands. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Dear user. FERTILE PHASE is the phase of a female's menstrual cycle when an egg (ovule) is released from the ovaries. In humans, ovulation occurs about midway through the menstrual cycle, after the follicular phase. The few days surrounding ovulation (from approximately days 10 to 18 of a 28 day cycle), constitute the most fertile phase. So if you have ejaculatory sexual inter course from day 10 from the first day of period and to day 20, the chances of pregnancy are much more. There are many determinants of pregnancy. You should be sexually matured. Your partner should be sexually matured. The period of your partner should be in the fertile stage. Her egg and your sperm cells should healthy enough. Then her uterus should be capable to get conceived. If all these were satisfied, the pregnancy could be a result. Take care.

Know More About Quinoa!

One of the grains with the lowest glycemic index measurement is quinoa, and while many people are unfamiliar with this grain, it is widely accessible and quite versatile in food preparation. Maintaining a low blood sugar level is important for people suffering from diabetes, as the condition means that your pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin to properly metabolize simple sugars. Therefore, to avoid formal treatments and an altered quality of life, eating low glycemic foods like quinoa is an effective remedy. There are also many minerals, vitamins and dietary fiber in quinoa, which can help optimize digestion.

To get pregnant good volume of semen needs to be deposited in the vagina exactly at the time of ovulation, which occurs only for one day in a month. As there was no penetration, which rules out deposition of semen inside the vagina. So you can not get pregnant with the act you described.

Dysmenorrhoea is normally treated with tablet meftal spas for 2-3 times during menses and this is very common condition. There r no special exercises to prevent or relieve this. If the pain is too severe then you would benefit by getting the ultrasound done which can diagnose fibroids, ovarian cyst or endometriosis. Pain killers are safe during that time. Best is meftal spas. There are no proven natural remedies which can relieve pain during menses.

PCOS - How It Can Result In Infertility?

PCOS - How It Can Result In Infertility?

For most women, the ultimate feeling is bringing their bundle of joy into this world. However, as much as you want, getting pregnant is not always in your hand. Infertility among women has seen an exponential growth in the last decade or so. In this article, we will limit our discussion to the factors responsible for female infertility.

In many women of reproductive age, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is found to be one of the common underlying factors making it difficult for the affected female to conceive. PCOS, as indicative of the name, is a condition whereby cyst formation takes place in the ovary or the ovaries. PCOS triggers a hormonal imbalance with increased production of androgen by the ovary interfering with the ovulation process. The mature eggs either don't get released from the ovary or in some cases, the eggs may not mature at all. Infertility can be one of the many depressing complications associated with the disorder.

Primary Ovarian Insufficiency can also be responsible for female infertility. True to its name, the disorder is an autoimmune condition resulting in the loss of eggs prematurely (from the ovary). The condition can be a genetic predisposition or at times may be a consequence of chemotherapy.

The hormones Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing hormone (LH) play a pivotal role in ensuring a healthy ovulation process. However, certain factors including obesity, drastic changes in the body weight (gain or loss) or stress (physical, mental, or emotional) can spell doom inhibiting the production of FSH and LH. In the absence of these two hormones, the ovulation process will also be affected, often giving rise to female infertility. The increased production of another hormone, Prolactin can also act as the trigger resulting in infertility. Proper treatment and medications can go a long way to reverse the condition.

Under certain conditions, the tissues that are supposed to line the inside of the uterus (a term called endometrium) grows outside it (often in the fallopian tubes, or ovaries) a condition termed as Endometriosis. While the painful condition in itself can lead to female infertility (can damage the implanted fertilized egg), removing the tissues through surgery can also damage the fallopian tube. With a damaged fallopian tube, infertility is the obvious consequence.

Certain medical conditions such as pelvic tuberculosis, STDs that triggers inflammation and infection of the fallopian tube and the uterus, women having undergone surgery for ectopic pregnancy, or the inflammatory diseases of the pelvis can also damage the fallopian tube

Infertility in females can also be an outcome

  • Cervical stenosis (the cervix narrows down to a great extent).
  • Congenital uterine disorders and abnormalities.
  • The formation of noncancerous tumors and polyps in the uterus can trigger infertility in some females only.
  • In some rare cases, the exact cause of infertility may be hard to explain (Unexplained Infertility).

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

My wife vagina is very loose please advice tightening cream and medicine. Because of this we are having problem in sex.

MCh - Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Hello. Usually after the marriage and the child birth especially normal delivery, such kind of looseness is common. The creams act only on the superficial region and give only mild firmness. The vaginoplasty, either surgical or laser will give the best results. Such kind of procedures can be combined with the labiaplasty or o-shot procedures if required. U can consult me online for more details.

You need to find out the reason that why tubes are blocked. Get genital TB ruled out first. Then why lapro failed. It is the best to diagnose blocked tubes and treat if at all possible. Secondly pregnancy with iui possible if egg ready on right side only in your case.
