Gums bleeding is due to infection in gums. Get scalling done by dentist. Take vit c tab for one week. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs.

Everyone doesn't have pearl white teeth. Your teeth color matches your skin colour. You can go for scaling and polishing followed by bleaching for more whiter teeth.

Hi good evening My problem is my mouth is bad smell.
while talking with other I feel very shy.
Hello lybrate-user, It will be discomfort for anyone to move in the public as such. Have dental checkup done so that the dentist rule out other causes and if the bad smell is from oral orgin you need scaling and polishing to be done by the dentist. After that you need to maintain proper oral health not to repeat the same according to dentist instruction. All the best.

My mouth is watering uncontrollably and speech is slurring. What causes it? Could you suggest any remedy?

BDS, MDS oral medicine
Dentist, Thrissur
Increased salivation may be due to small reasons like calculus or gingivtis to big causes like usage of certain medications, systemic diseases like GERD ETC. Hence diagnosis is important. Visit a oral medicine specialist who can diagnose your problem. Fact is until cause is known and removed your problem will not get solved. Treatment includes medications to reduce salivary flow and oral prophylaxis. Its a treatable problem hence visit Oral medicine doctor.

Please suggest uses of oil pulling ?

BDS
Dentist,
Use coconut oil. While you can get the same bacteria-fighting benefits with sesame or sunflower oil, coconut oil has the added benefit of lauric acid, which is well-known for its anti-microbial agents. Don't skip brushing and flossing. Oil pulling should never replace routine dental visits and traditional home oral care, it doesn't reverse the effects of tooth decay, but it's a great supplemental therapy.

Dental Emergency

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Accidents happen, and knowing what to do when one occurs can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth.
Here are some tips for common dental emergencies:

• For a knocked-out permanent or adult tooth, keep it moist at all times. If you can, try placing the tooth back in the socket without touching the root. If that’s not possible, place it in between your cheek and gums, in milk, or water. Then, get to your dentist’s clinic right away.

• For a cracked tooth, immediately rinse the mouth with warm water to clean the area. Put cold compresses on the face to keep any swelling down
.
• If you bite your tongue or lip, clean the area gently with water and apply a cold compress.

• For toothaches, rinse the mouth with warm water to clean it out. Gently use dental floss to remove any food caught between the teeth.

• For objects stuck in the mouth, try to gently remove with floss but do not try to remove it with sharp or pointed instruments.

When you have a dental emergency, it’s important to visit your dentist or an hospital as soon as possible.

Here are some simple precautions you can take to avoid accident and injury to the teeth:
• Wear a mouthguard when participating in sports or recreational activities.

• Avoid chewing ice, popcorn kernels, beetle nut ( supari ) and hard candy, all of which can crack a tooth.

• Use scissors, NEVER your teeth, to cut things.

Most dentists reserve time in their daily schedules for emergency patients. Call your dentist and provide as much detail as possible about your condition.

Yes please show it to a dentist at the earliest as it may cause you severe pain any day. It is possible that the tooth may be saved even at this stage. If you delay further, you may lose the tooth totally and may have to get it extracted. I suggest that you send me the pictures of your affected teeth on private consultation so that I can provide you with more specific answers.
