Jogging, cycling, push ups, sit ups, squats and other types of cardiac and aerobics exercise will help you to reduce fat. But as dietitian my experience says in weight loss diet play 80% role well exercise play 20% role. If you will not control your diet you will not get any result. Proper diet and exercise schedule is your answer.

Hello doctor. I am a student and have to commute by bus daily. But since last week I am having pain in my knees. This pain gets worst in the night and even when I am walking. Since two days there is vein stretching due to which it has become nearly impossible for me to walk. My both legs are aching severely. Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

1. Avoid caffeine found in coffee, tea, chocolate, cola, and some pain relievers.[four to six hours before bedtime.] 2. Quiet, dark, and cool environment can help promote sound sleep. [use heavy curtains, or an eye mask to block light, and also keeping computers, tvs, and other work materials out of the room will help promote mental bonding between your bedroom and sleep] 3. Avoid stressful, stimulating activities like doing work, discussing emotional issues. Physically and psychologically stressful activities can cause the body to secrete the stress hormone cortisol, which is associated with increasing alertness.

How to Manage and Treat Fatigue?

Fatigue is a common complaint amongst middle aged people. It is mostly seen in people who have refrained from physical activity or working out for long. This being said, there are a host of other diseases where fatigue acts as the most prominent symptom. Some major diseases where fatigue is involved are anemia, heart diseases, thyroid and diabetes. If you are feeling exhausted or worn out even after a good night’s sleep, it is time to consult your doctor. Here are a few tips that can help you in managing fatigue in the early stage:

  1. Review your existing medication: Get your doctor to check your medication to ensure that the fatigue is not a result of your existing medicine. Doctors often change the medication for any side effects such as this. It is also advised not to take additional medicine to counter fatigue.
  2. Start moving: Studies show that physical activity greatly boosts the level of energy in an individual. Daily exercise not only reduces fatigue but makes the heart and lung function more efficiently. It increases vigor and the overall quality of life. According to a study conducted by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, it was seen that people who are more active have more self-confidence.
  3. Drink water: Dehydration often causes day time fatigue. It not only impairs the physical performance of an individual but also contribute to lack of alertness and motivation. A good indicator of the body’s hydration is the color of the urine. Ideally it should be yellow, pale or straw colored. Any coloration other than this signifies that the body needs more water.
  4. Hit the bed early: Lack of sleep is one of the biggest factors of fatigue. A study conducted by the Stanford University in 2004 showed that people with good sleeping habits suffers from less fatigue. An afternoon nap followed by a coffee further reduces fatigue and energizes a person. 8 hours of sleep is considered to be healthy and keeps fatigue at bay.
  5. Frequent eating: It is observed that people who eat small meals several times a day are less prone to this condition than others who eat twice or thrice a day but eat bigger meals. Frequent eating maintains a steady blood sugar level and helps a person concentrate harder. This being said, it has to be ensured that food is consumed in smaller quantities to refrain from putting on weight.
  6. Try Yoga: While any kind of exercise is helpful in countering fatigue, yoga is particularly helpful in boosting energy. A British study conducted among young adults showed that those who attended 6 weeks of yoga classes are found to be more energetic and mindful. Yoga should be practiced under strict supervision of an instructor to avoid any possible complications of the body.

What you did to make yourself feel better Here you have not mentioned anything in detail. So initially you may try some relaxation techniques Relax. You deserve it, it's good for you, and it takes less time than you think. Here comes some relaxation techniques. Try them 1. Meditation: A few minutes of practice per day can help ease. “Research suggests that daily meditation may alter the brain’s neural pathways, making you more resilient to stress,”  It's simple. Sit up straight with both feet on the floor. Close your eyes. Focus your attention on reciting -- out loud or silently -- a positive mantra such as “I feel at peace” or “I love myself.” Place one hand on your belly to sync the mantra with your breaths. Let any distracting thoughts float by like clouds. 2. Breathe Deeply Take a 5-minute break and focus on your breathing. Sit up straight, eyes closed, with a hand on your belly. Slowly inhale through your nose, feeling the breath start in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth. 3. Reach Out Your social network is one of your best tools for handling stress. Talk to others -- preferably face to face, or at least on the phone. Share what's going on. You can get a fresh perspective while keeping your connection strong. There are many more techniques. Try this first and observe whether there is a change.

Dear lybrate user, first of all let me make it clear that you may experience nightfalls/nocturnal emission of sperm for twice in a month if you do not have a habit of masturbation or if you do not indulge in any sexual intercourse. However, if you experience nightfalls for more than twice in a month then it is surely abnormal. Every person experience an erection after a sleep of 6-8 hours. Such an erection during waking up from sleep is a typical characteristic of normal sexual system. An uninterrupted sleep of 6-8 hours pacifies the nerves which get hyper-activated after a long day's work & results in a sexual arousal by channelising the blood flow towards the male sexual system. But an erected penis cannot ejaculate involuntarily unless it is being rubbed as it undergoes during masturbation & sexual intercourse. Involuntary ejaculation of semen indicates that the internal muscles of your pelvic region are not strong enough to control the outflow of semen. However, nightfalls indicate that you are having a normal erection as well as it also proves that there is no deficit of sperm production in testis. Nightfall implies that there is only loss of control of the pelvic muscles. It is often observed that an unmarried person suffering from nightfalls complains of premature ejaculation after marriage if his problem of nightfalls is left untreated. The cause behind such quick discharge during sex is same as it is in case of nightfalls i. E. Loss of the control of the muscles of pelvic region. May be muscle stiff ya week both reason possible nw define your self that if heat fermentation twice a day and muscle relaxant give you relief that is stiffness of muscle if no that is weakness of muscle then do strength exercise like treadmill quadriceps etc or more information you can consult.

I got severe ocd .now for 3 years am using clomipramine hydrochloride .I tried withdrawal once but my ocd relapsed after 2 months. Now my question is have I to continue this med lifelong? Am asking because of its severe side effects including total sexual dysfunction.

Yes you need to continue medications for OCD fro many years, may be life long. As you said clomipramine produces severe sexual dysfunction, but now newer drugs with lesser of these side effects have come. Discuss with your psychiatrist freely and seek and try alternative medications. All the best.

Hai do not worry we cal this condition as azzospermia. Main cause for this condition is any obstruction or low testosterone levels 1st check your testisterone and fsh levels after that we vl. Plan for treatment if hormobe levels are normal then there is chance of obstruction which can ve diagnosed by ultrasoubd nd treatee accordingly.

Hello, I have erection problem. I. Not have stronger and longer erections from long time. I changed my diet and included lahsun, mausanbi juice, and water melon etc. I also started doing walking. My condition I.proved a bit. I also tried ashwagandha, shilajit, kavach ke beej, etc. But the also did not help much. Please suggest me some medication as not I am not even able to do once properly. Do not take ant medicine. First of all you should know that it need treatment which take about 30-60 days and different medicine are needed according the response of medicine. You should relax yourself and have to avoid thinking too much about the sex. Too much thinking reduce it and nervous break down occur. So first forget about problem and follow it for 15 days. After 15 days see what is the improvement. If no improvement the medicine is needed and you have to follow it. Sensual reading or taking cause the problem so don’t think about it. When you are mentally free there will be improvement. You should also know that you are masturbating- sexual contact for fun which is the route cause. Too much mustarbation or sex give arise to the problem. And ejaculation of sperm detoriated the health as in male discharge of sperm/ fluid complete the sex desire. 1. Use amla (gooseberry) juice on scalp and also to drink. 2. Mix curry leaves with coconut oil and heat up and let it cool. Massage scalp with this oil. 3. Apply hair packs like Egg with Yogurt, Banana. 4. Have lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits rich in Vitamin C. 5. Protein is the most important element for maintaining hair health. Make sure your diet in protein rich sources like eggs, fish, chicken, soyabean, sprouts, pulses and grains 6. Zinc, iron & copper promote healthy hair. Strength of body that we receive from food does not depend on the quantity of food but we assume but on quality. Your diet should contain all the constituent like carbohydrate protein fat and vitamins. Eat at least one fruit daily and one glass of milk. Also do exercise daily.
