Sir, I am suffering from anal pain in right side of rectum since 8 years. I have been treated by many Doctors. They checked me and almost every doctor said there is not any major problem. I did tests as well its test did a surgeon doctor at his clinic with an instrument with a small bulb attached and checked my anal rectum and he said me that you have an anal fissure. I take antibiotics too almost every doctor gave me antibiotics and said me the same statement, (anal fissure). In previous year I met a consultant doctor at state hospital srinagar he advised me to do a colonoscopy. I did the same and produced to the same consultant and he said me that there is nothing any serious problem. A small hemorrhoid was in report. He gave me ointment namely dobesoft and Dilgel. After that everything was right. But couple of weeks again I am suffering from same. One doctor said me take lot of fluid and don't smoke. Consultant too advise me the same. And unfortunately I am a chain smoker. Now please advise me what to do I am tense and confused. Please sir again please give the suggestion as well as advise please. That will be your kindness.

Respected lybrate-user hi if you don't quit smoking never expect of any recovery from any doctor on the earth. You have to take decision right away if you want to continue to suffer with smoking or you want a better life with good health. Take plenty of liquids green leafy veg fiber fruits curd for better digestion & avoid hard stools. Avoid all oily spicy nonveg stuffs totally. Apply xylocaine (5) jelly over anal part after passing stool & having sitz bath (sitting in tub filled with leuk warm water for 10-10 min mor & eve). Isabgul powder 3 teaspoonful at night with glass of leuk warm water for 15 days. Can consult after 15 days if stopped smoking totally dear thanks regards.

Hello. Prevention of kidney stones may include a combination of lifestyle changes and medications. Lifestyle changes you may reduce your risk of kidney stones if you: drink water throughout the day. For people with a history of kidney stones, drink 12-14 glasses of water everyday. If you live in a hot, dry climate or you exercise frequently, you may need to drink even more water to produce enough urine. If your urine is light and clear, you're likely drinking enough water. Eat fewer oxalate-rich foods. If you tend to form calcium oxalate stones, restrict foods rich in oxalates. These include rhubarb, beets, bhindi (okra), spinach, swiss chard, sweet potatoes, nuts, tea, chocolate and soy products. Choose a diet low in salt and animal protein. Reduce the amount of salt you eat and choose non animal protein sources, such as legumes. Consider using a salt substitute. Continue eating calcium-rich foods, but use caution with calcium supplements. Calcium in food doesn't have an effect on your risk of kidney stones. Continue eating calcium-rich foods unless your doctor advises otherwise. Ask your doctor before taking calcium supplements, as these have been linked to increased risk of kidney stones. You may reduce the risk by taking supplements with meals. Diets low in calcium can increase kidney stone formation in some people. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine (if the size of the stone is less than 6-7mm) - berberis vulgaris q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Revert me back.

No take ayurvedic medicenes kidney stones are one of the most painful disorders that affect humans. Kidney stones are solid masses of mineral salt deposits that are normally filtered through the kidney and emptied via urine. Urine has a natural substance, which dissolves these minerals, thereby preventing them into becoming solids or calculi. Sometimes due to dehydration, these salts don? t get dissolved and crystallization takes place. It grows large enough to obstruct the renal ducts or get stuck in the ureter, causing sharp and severe pain in the urinary tract. Untreated, kidney stones can cause renal failure. Common causes of kidney stones? urinary tract infection (uti)? overdoses of vitamin d? mineral imbalance? kidney disease? dehydration? gout? diet home remedies- basil leaves (tulsi) are good for the overall health of kidney. Mix 1 teaspoon of juice from basil leaves with 1 teaspoon of honey and have it daily in the morning. You can also chew two to three basil leaves in order to remove the stones from the urinary tract. The water and potassium content that is present in watermelon is an essential ingredient for a healthy kidney. It helps in regulating and maintaining the level of acid present in the urine. Eating watermelon or drinking its juice everyday will help in flushing out stones from the kidney. Drinking plenty of water daily will produce clear urine each time you urinate. This will eventually help the kidney stones to pass. A proper diet is essential in keeping the kidney healthy and prevent formation of kidney stones. Drinking plenty of water and other fluids or liquids daily will help prevent most types of kidney stones. Consuming too much of calcium rich foods such as spinach, beet, cauliflower, carrots, almonds, sweet breads, coconut, turnip, bengal gram, peas, whole-wheat flour and organ meats like liver and kidney can lead to kidney stones. One should also know to choose a diet that is low in salt and animal proteins. Keep away from condiments such as pickle, alcohol drinks, sauce, cucumber, radish, tomato, asparagus, onion, cabbage, meat and gravies as well as carbonated water. Medicines ayurvedic tab-calcury neeri syrup and chandraprabha vati for treatment consult privately any queries inform me.

Can drinking water with lemon prevent kidney stones? Can we drink city water. What is the best water to drink?
Clean natural water without flouride is best to use. Lemon and water act as diuretics without loss of potassium etc. Urination dissolves and flushes stone out if of small size and in upper calyx.

14 Tips to Help You Recuperate from Prostate Operation

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS, MBBS
Urologist, Delhi
14 Tips to Help You Recuperate from Prostate Operation

A prostate operation involves the removal of a part of the prostate gland or sometimes the removal of the entire prostate gland. Such a surgery is a serious one and several recovery tips must be followed by a patient to ensure quick and successful healing.

Here are some important tips for recuperating from a prostate operation:

  1. After the surgery, you need to spend up to three days in the hospital for initial recovery. You might be given fluids, which go directly into your veins until you fully recover from anesthesia.
  2. After the operation, normal urination will be disrupted in the beginning, as the urethra stays swollen. Urinating gets a little difficult and uncomfortable for a few days after the removal of the catheter.
  3. You may feel fatigued and may feel under the weather for some weeks after a prostate operation. So you must take things easy for at least two months.
  4. Avoid lifting or moving heavy objects for some weeks following the surgery. Do not perform any exercise, which causes strain. You should ask your friends and family members to carry out chores for you.
  5. After becoming slightly stable you should start gentle exercises. Walking is an effective remedy, which helps in blood circulation and lowers the risk of getting blood clots in the legs.
  6. You should drink lots of water during the recovery stage. This will reduce the risk of getting a urinary tract infection and also help in clearing any trace of blood from your urine.
  7. For improving bladder control, you should perform several pelvic floor exercises.
  8. In case of any kind of pain, you can take over the counter painkillers to ease the pain.
  9. It will take you a time span of three to six weeks for total recovery after a prostate operation. You should consult a surgeon about the best time to return to normal daily activities.
  10. You can get back to work soon, but it depends on your nature of work. Office jobs are not much of a problem, but in case of physical labour, more time is needed before you can resume your duties.
  11. Activities such as driving can be started quite soon after initial recovery. However, it varies from person to person. Some people may get back to driving within two weeks while some may need a month.
  12. You have to wait for 6 to 8 weeks after a prostate operation before getting back to sexual activities.
  13. In case you experience high fever, pain during urination or the inability to urinate, you must consult your doctor immediately.
  14. It takes a person several weeks to recover from a prostate operation completely. Initially, total rest is required. But eventually, he can return to normal activities and lead a healthy life.

Get a urine routine and microscopic examination, urine culture if you are suffering from recurrent uti, serum calcium, urine ph and bicarbonate estimation to exclude distal renal tubular acidosis, serum uric acid estimation. Have plenty of water. And 9 mm stone is unlikely to go away with meds. You myt need surgical management.

What is the treatment of Kidney disease glomerulonephritis in early stage? And How to diagnose without biopsy? Thank ...
One treatment is to control high blood pressure, especially if that’s the underlying cause of the GN. Blood pressure may be very hard to control when your kidneys aren’t working properly. If this is the case, your doctor may prescribe blood pressure medications, including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) such as: Captopril Lisinopril Perindopril Your doctor may also prescribe angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), such as: Losartan Irbesartan Valsartan Corticosteroids may also be used if your immune system is attacking your kidneys. They reduce the immune response. Another method to reduce the immune-triggered inflammation is plasmapheresis. This process removes the fluid part of the blood (plasma) and replaces it with intravenous (IV) fluids or donated plasma (with no antibodies).

Hi. I am suffering from constant pain in my anus in passing stool. Please recommend.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Hyderabad
As per your history it appears you have acute fissure in ano, please start taking more of leafy green vegetables and fruits along with plenty of water, avoid white bread and refined flour, non vegetarian food, and fried food items. You can try using xylocaine 5% ointment with an external applicator, always use this ointment 5-10 minutes prior to passing of stool, after passing stool sit in a basin containing warm water called seitz bath for 5 minutes. You could also apply the same ointment once again after this ritual, by this it prevents the nagging pain you may have. If no relief you are advised to see a surgeon or a proctologist for examination and for a possible anl dilatation procedure.
