Ulcers generally take 1-2 weeks to heal completely. Recurrent ulcers can be due to local mouth conditions such as rough teeth surface or rough mouth appliances or dentures n cheek bites. Treatment: start on multivitamin tabs which includes vit c n iron supplements if your hb% levels r low. Apply dologel oral ointment on ulcers thrice daily. Avoid spicy n oily food, alcohol, tea n coffee. Drink plenty of water n hv fibrous n citrous foods. Visit dentist to rule out oral factors responsible for ulcers. Bad breath can b caused fue to various reasons. Due to smoking n using tobacco products, dental prob such as decay teeth, unclean tongue, gum infections, reduced saliva n dry mouth, ill fitting dentues, salivary gland probs. Other diseases n infections which also cause bad breath r sinus infections, respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis n pneumonia, liver n kidney probs, diabetes, acid reflux from stomach etc. Get scalling done by dentist. The most probable cause can be weak gums... and the reason for that must be lack of vitamin C... You may start with vitamin C supplements... You may also massage your gums with turmeric and a little amount of salt... twice a day... For homoeoapthic treatment proper consultation is required...

Hello lybrate user. First chek bad breath is from mouth or nose. If it's from nose it can b because of underline medical condition. But if it is from mouth then there are only two reasons 1) plaque and calculus. This is because of bad brushing habit you can see black or whitish layer on tooth. 2) decayed tooth. If your tooth is carious or say decayed. Advice: 1) oral prophylaxis which is professional cleaning of teeth. 2) filling of decayed tooth.

Salivary Gland Disorder - Common Causes Behind it

Salivary Gland Disorder - Common Causes Behind it

Remember the sensation similar to that of a warm liquid flooding your tongue when you smell a deliciously baked chocolate cake? Or a freshly baked brown bread early in the morning? That is your saliva. The salivary glands present in the inner linings of the lips, cheeks and the mouth produce saliva. Saliva protects one from tooth decay, keeps the mouth moist and helps in the digestive process. Any disease that affects the saliva gland comes under the domain of ‘salivary gland disorders’.

Causes

There are three salivary glands in humans known as the Submandibular, Parotid and the Sublingual gland. The most common disorder that affects salivary glands is that of ‘blocked salivary glands’. Sialothiasis is a disorder wherein, calcium stones are formed in the salivary glands, which obstruct these glands. Obstruction of the salivary glands leads to an infection called sialadenitis, caused by strep or staph bacteria.

Sjogren’s syndrome is another condition which affects the salivary glands. In this condition, the antibodies in the body target the cells that produce saliva. This occurs mostly in women who suffer from autoimmune disorders. Viral infections are also common; flu virus and mumps are a few examples.

Symptoms

The symptoms of salivary gland disorders are problem specific; for Sialolithiasis, you will feel a painful lump below the tongue, which tends to aggravate when you eat. In case of Sialadenitis, there will be an odorous pus-filled discharge along with a lump beneath the chin. For viral infections, the symptoms will include muscle pain, swelling and fever. Symptoms of Sjogren’s syndrome are dry eyes and mouth, joint pain, fatigue and tooth decay.

Treatment

Like the symptoms, the treatments for salivary gland disorders are also problem specific. For salivary gland tumors, surgery is required. If it is a malignant tumor, then radiation therapy will be prescribed which may cause dry mouth syndrome (Xerostomia). For bacterial and viral infections, anti-bacterial and anti-viral medications are required for treatment, respectively. It is also important that you take good care of your oral health for an even more effective treatment. Brushing and flossing your teeth on a regular basis will help keep salivary gland disorders at bay. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Deposits on teeth surface is very normal. Everyone has it. But every body has to clean it everyday with brushing. Sometimes it stays for longer time and becomes hard and discolored. Then we should go for scaling. You also need same treatment.

Stop tobacco in any form, if using. Take some good antioxidants for a month. Sometimes stress also leads to such conditions so do take care of it.

Hi the procedure is known as scaling that includes cleaning of your teeth with the instrument using water pressure and vibrations. In this procedure there is no such loosening of teeth occurs. That is a myth pocket problem arises because of improper brushing and bone loss that surrounds the teeth. When heavy amount or plaque or calculus is collected around the teeth that goes unnoticed by the patient. In such cases when scaling is done calculus is removed slight to considerable mobility of teeth can be noticed because the teeth were taking the support of deposits. This is a big myth that scaling loosens teeth.

My teeth has get hole. Now i am not able to chew. What should I do? give me tips.

My teeth has get hole. Now i am not able to chew. What should I do? give me tips.
The hole is cavity becoz of tooth decay. Get an x-ray done to know about the extent of the cavity. If it is superficial filling is the option. If it is deeper then you need to go for rct. Brush regularly two times daily with soft bristle toothbrush. Rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash.
