Hi. I had used pregout kit in march and again I used it in this month i. E. May. Is it safe if I use it two times. Is birth control loop safe. Are there any sideeffects. Please clarify me.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Sultanpur
Mam now there are many methods available for this you can choose according to your need and convenience. I am not suggesting any because with out knowing your need it is useless. Every such method is unique and has some merits and some problems also. For example oral pills should be taken regularly as their schedule, and have very good effect but if you miss the dose it may be ineffective. So, first decide what is your need then we can find best option for you.

I have a cyst in my overy. 2 years ago I get operate. But 6 months before there is again cyst. I take dynofirst for 3 month! Now it has removed. Now what I do that it never made again.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Most ovarian cysts occur as a normal part of the process of ovulation called functional cysts. These cysts usually go away within a few months without any treatment. An ovarian cyst can be more concerning in a female who isn’t ovulating. Some tests are needed if the cyst is large or if it does disappear in a few months. In recent treatment of ovarian cysts, these dinofirst tablets or any other contraceptive pills are not given as even without that, the size is reduced automatically. If they r occuring again and again, you should reduce your weight and also can check thyroid. If thyroid is already done then reduce your weight. These cysts usually does not require any surgery as they are filled with water and disappear within 2-3 months.

I had sex in January 15 and I took a contraceptive pill then I got my periods on 26 January it's March now I didn't get my periods am I pregnant please help.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
If you already had proper menses after having sex, then there is no chance of pregnancy. If menses were not as usual, then us should do urine pregnancy test. Menses can get delayed because of hormonal changes or stress also. If urine test is negative, you should wait for another 15 days to have spontaneous menses.

One of my female friend was physical in her ex relationship but now she is going to be married. What should she do if she don't want her husband to know about her lost virginity? Some everteen vaginal tightening gel working or not?

BHMS, DEMS
Homeopath, Pune
In some cultures, bleeding during intercourse is regarded as a sign of virginity. However, it is not necessary that the hymen only splits because of having sex. In some women the hymen may not split even after the first intercourse because of the elasticity of the tissue. Similarly, there are several different factors that could lead to the rupturing of this delicate tissue. Some of the different causes of a split hymen include – Accidents or injuries Activities like cycling, horseback riding, gymnastics and swimming Certain dance moves, especially splits Going through a check up of the genitals Strenuous stretching exercises Use of tampons.

I am 22 years old female. I had used a condom during sex but still I missed my period this month. I tested for pregnancy with the pregnancy kits that are available and it came out to be positive. Can I have some medicine that can prevent the pregnancy apart from surgical abortion?

MD - Social & Preventive Medicine / Community Medicine
Epidemiologist, Hyderabad
The condom must have leaked or broken during intercourse. Anyhow if you do not want to continue the pregnancy, you can go in for a medical abortion which is done with pills. Please consult a good gynecologist.

Since how long you have been suffering from this problem? Any associated symptoms or complaints? Any medical condition do you have? Have you got your investigations done (if yes, share the reports with me)? Answer all these questions for proper diagnosis and proper treatment. Menstrual periods are often irregular during the first few years after menstruation starts. It may take several years for the hormones that control menstruation to reach a balance. Menopause or peri-menopause is the phase when a female again faces irregular menses. Pregnancy is the most common cause of a missed period. If you might be pregnant, treat yourself as if you are pregnant until you know for sure. Use a home pregnancy test as the first step to finding out whether you are pregnant. If you are not pregnant, other causes of missed or irregular periods include: Excessive weight loss or gain. Although low body weight is a common cause of missed or irregular periods, obesity also can cause menstrual problems. Eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia. For more information, see the topic Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa. Increased exercise. Missed periods are common in endurance athletes. Emotional stress. Illness. Travel. Medicines such as birth control methods, which may cause lighter, less frequent, more frequent, or skipped periods or no periods at all. Hormone problems. This may cause a change in the levels of the hormones that the body needs to support menstruation. Illegal drug use. Problems with the pelvic organs , such as imperforate hymen, polycystic ovary syndrome, or Asherman's syndrome. Breast-feeding. Many women do not resume regular periods until they have completed breast-feeding. Other diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, tuberculosis, liver disease, and diabetes can cause missed or irregular periods, although this is rare. Any nutritional deficiency can also lead to Menstrual problem/ irregularity. Take more of green vegetables, nuts, salads, seasonal fruits, yellow coloured veggies, milk & milk products, plenty of water and enough of sleep & rest. Take homoeopathic medication – Schwabe's Five Phos. And Alfaalfa Tonic – both thrice daily for 1 month.

4 Myths on Laparoscopy You Shouldn't Believe

F.I.A.G.E.S , MNAMS (Membership of the National Academy) (General Surgery) , DNB (General Surgery), MBBS
General Surgeon, Delhi
4 Myths on Laparoscopy You Shouldn't Believe

A widely used surgical procedure, laparoscopy involves the insertion of certain surgical instruments, small tubes and video cameras in your abdomen through small incisions and cuts. This procedure is used to diagnose a number of ailments such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and pelvic inflammatory diseases to name a few. Even though laparoscopy is a very popular form of surgery, there are quite a few myths associated with it, which are:

1. Myth: The images taken through a laparoscope are of poor quality

This is not true. In fact, the visuals obtained through a laparoscope are clearer and much more accurate when compared to those obtained via an open surgery. The visuals of a video laparoscopy provide a detailed magnification of even those parts of the area that are inaccessible by the human eye.

2. Myth: If you've undergone multiple abdominal surgeries in the past, you can't opt for a laparoscopy

The truth is that you can go for a laparoscopy even if you've gone through multiple surgeries previously, irrespective of the location or size of the previous incisions. This is done through the use of a special instrument, called a microlaparscope that enables safe entry into the abdomen of the patient.

3. Myth: If you have large fibroids and ovarian cysts, you can't have them removed through a laparoscopy

False. Even though the incisions made by a laparoscopy are really small, they still allow the safe removal of large abdominal structures by the use of certain devices. For example, a cylindrical tool known as morcellator can be inserted through a laparoscopic incision and be used to remove large fibroids and ovarian cysts.

4. Myth: If you're overweight or underweight, you can't undergo a laparoscopy

No matter if you're obese or too thin, you can still undergo a laparoscopy as the tools used for this surgical procedure are available in different lengths and sizes, and can be adjusted as per the body type of the patient before the incision is made.

Due to thickness on uterus bladder which is investigated in sonography. Dr. consulted to do fractional curettage test but now in blood report total bilirubin is 2.8 so in this condition is it fine if we do fractional curettage test.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
You get liver function tests, bilirubin should not be more than 1. If there are no symptoms like heavy bleeding, fractional curettage can wait. A simple test like aspiration biopsy /cytology can be done which is opd procedure and done with a plastic pipe and a syringe called mr-it sucks out every collected material in uterus and gives a lot of understanding of swelling. 5 minutes opd under local anesthesia. Do talk to your doctor and get liver function tests also.
