Why I am so coward, I get scared easily, I i get fear easily, I avoid confrontation, in school days people used to beat me and I used to say nothing to them ,why I do not have confidence to beat them, is this due to poor self esteem or lack of confidence I have a squint in my eyes and even if a small child tease me or say something me I get hurt easily, why I am so morally weak, why I am born such morally weak. Please tell.

Dear lybrate user, I think it must have been very difficult for you to take insults in the form of teasing. Beating etc since childhood. I sense that these insults have impacted you a lot. Probably no one appreciated you till now. As a result you have low self esteem and low confidence. It appears to me that you believe in what people say about you, hence you think that you are weak and coward. According to me, the reason why you do not retaliate is, that is what your parents/teachers or other elders at home told you to do. Probably, because of your low self esteem, you also thought that you'deserve' this kind of treatment. Though you were angry, you did not fight back, because you thought you were physically weak as well. Emotional abuse is more hurtful than physical abuse. Even if people are making fun of your squint, please accept it as your reality. And look at yourself as a" whole" person and you will realise that you are lucky to have a healthy, normal body. Now please understand that, you are 22 and an adult and not small/weak anymore. Try to get enough physical strength with the help of good nutrition and exercise. Then you will not feel weak, physically. Then make a list of your strengths, that you think you have, read it everyday. Do not take negativity from anyone. Believe in yourself. No one is" born" weak emotionally/morally. The life experiences cause this weakness. Now you need to take charge of your life. Tell yourself that you are valuable. You have many skills/strengths. Keep yourself away from people who try to pull you down. Be with the people who have positive attitude towards life. Only you can help yourself - try to gain more physical and emotional strength. All the best.

Tips to Treat and Prevent Eye Pain

Tips to Treat and Prevent Eye Pain

Are you suffering from eye pain? Well, rubbing your eyes is not a wise thing to do under such circumstances. Rubbing will only turn the white of your eye into a scarlet-colored surface. The eyes can get irritated due to the influence of foreign materials like dust particles, flies or remains of beauty products. The eyes also develop pain due to physical injury. Here are some tips to get rid of the eye pain or irritation:

  1. Use Ice pack: In case of an injury, apply ice pack on the eyes. Cold compression on the eyes for 15 minutes reduces any sort of pain or swelling.
  2. Cry to smile: Tears are known to have positive effects on the eyes. They prevent the drying up of cornea. It is advisable to bathe the eye with artificial tears.
  3. Compress your eyes: It is advisable to soak a washcloth in warm water and compress your eyes with that to get relief from pain in sty. Sty is an infection of the eyelid, which reddens the lids and causes pain. Warm compression helps in liquefaction of the oils in the eyes.
  4. Wash your eye: Irritation or pain is also caused by dust particles in the eyes. Therefore, it is best to wash your eyes with saline solution. Don't use normal tap water or distilled water for washing your eyes.
  5. Get rid of the invader: Try to remove or dislodge any fleck or speck 'the cause of pain' by using a cotton swab.
  6. Try the cold treatment: It has been found that dry eyes can be treated best by cold application. Apply a pack of ice on dry eyes for 5 to 6 minutes in every two hours. This helps in reducing the pain and forms tears to keep the eyes moist.
  7. Flip your eyelids: Try to remove the painful particle inside the eyes by pulling the eyelids. Pull the upper lid gently over the lower one so that the foreign particle comes out. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ophthalmologist.

LASIK: All About It

MD - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
LASIK: All About It

LASIK, Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, aims at correcting the shape of the cornea, which is the transparent layer that lines the front of the eye. Through this procedure, the cornea is reshaped so that the retina receives a focused light.

When do you need this surgery?

This surgical procedure is ideal for people having following conditions, making spectacle use mandatory:

  1. Hypermetropia or farsightedness - Close objects appear indistinct
  2. Myopia or nearsightedness - Far off objects appears blurry
  3. Astigmatism - Overall fuzzy vision

Advantages of LASIK:

Biggest advantage of LASIK is that it helps people to get rid of glasses and contact lenses, which sometimes are cosmetically unacceptable and in some cases are visually disabling.

Best part of LASIK is that it is:

  1. Has a high success rate ( success rate is 96%)
  2. Quick (total duration of surgery is hardly 5 minutes) and virtually painless
  3. Adjustments can be made years later to alter the vision as per growing impairment in the future and advancing years
  4. Does not require bandages or stitches

Who can go for LASIK:

Any person 18 years or older who fulfils the following criteria can undergo Lasik surgery

  1. Stable refraction
  2. Dilated retinal examination should be normal
  3. Corneal thickness and topography should be in normal range
  4. Adequately wet eyes

Sir, Meri 1 eyes mein 1 bindi flotter aa gya hai 6 month pahle meri age 45 years hai kya koi iska treatment hai pls. ...
Hello Floaters Floaters appear due to condensation of collagen fibrils present in the vitreous cavity of eye These are benign and don't need treatment Only way to get rid of them is to avoid them Having said that it is provisional diagnosis I would recommend you to consult local ophthalmologist and get proper eye examination done.

Homoeopathic treatment UNDER EYE CREAM ( BAKSON) Apply at night under the eye in circular fashion GLOWCARE DROPS ( LORDS) 20 drops in 20 ml freh water 3 times daily Take a good Iron rich diet likeApple,Pomegranate,Spinach nd all other green vegetables 2 glass milk daily 6-8 glass extra water daily Try to have a sound sleep HOME REMEDIES Slice up a papaya. Papaya fruit contains the enzyme papain. Papain helps exfoliate the skin, making way for new skin cells to emerge. Papaya also contains Vitamin C and Vitamin E, so it's a dark spot fading superstar. Papain is most concentrated while the papaya is still green, but you can use riper fruit as well. Peel and remove the seeds from a papaya, and try one of the following treatments: 1. Slice a piece off of the papaya, and lay or hold it on the dark spots that you want to get rid of. Hold it there for 20-30 minutes. Repeat twice a day for best results. 2.Make a papaya facial mask. Cut the papaya into chunks, then use a blender or food processor to blend the fruit into a smooth paste. Apply the mask to your face and neck. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, then rinse well.
