My son is 15 months old. For the last one week he has developed a habit of getting irritated at anything for most of the times in a day and he keeps screeching. Also, he has started avoiding eatables and is not at all interested in taking food by any means. Is it normal in this period of infancy or he needs some kind of extra efforts from us. Please advise. Thanks,

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, as he is 15mths old, keep a check on his teeth as may be new tooth or teeth are about to erupt and he is undergoing slight pain and irritation on that area. It's normal for a kid who is having dentition, and without any major cause becomes irritable. Give him your love and affection, ask him what thing is making him like this. Give him food which contains more calcium like milk, milk products, green leafy veggies, if you are non-veg. Then chicken and fish can be given. Medication: homoeopathic schwabe's biocombination 21/ 2 tablets 3 times a day daily for 4 months. Revert.

Hi. I would recommend you to give him 2 doses of Hepar Sulph. 200 to be given after a gap of 10 minutes. Then keep a check on boils for few days. If you find some changes in size, let me know, will guide you according. (Don't repeat the medicine unless told by me again).

2 Months old baby has loose motions, is being fed on similac advance any home remedy?

Pediatrician, Kaithal
Stop bottle feeding, if given. Breast feed your baby, if there is no medical contraindication. If stools are non watery, baby is active and gaining weight properly, it can be a normal activity for this age. It will be better to get your baby examined by a pediatrician.

During the 1st month of age, I fed my baby every 2 hrs in a day. She is in 2nd month now. Do I continue feeding like this? or what should be the frequency of feeding?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
There is no rule to feed by clock. If the baby demands feed you can give whenever bay cries for milk. This is called demand feed. There are many things to take care especially till the first birthday.. For which you ask me privately in this site.

My daughter is 1.5 years old but she is not gaining weight up to the optimum of the child having 1.5 years old. Please suggest any treatment for that?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Weight gain as well as food intake usually slows down during second year. If the weight is approximately 10kgs it's o. K.

My baby is 5 months nd 10 days old. Should I start solid food or should I wait for 6 months completion and with which food I should start.

M.D PEADIATRICS, MBBS
Pediatrician, Pune
Hello! baby should b exclusively breast fed till 6 months of age. Once 6 months are completed, you can start top feeds like moong dal water, rice water, clear soups etc. Start with one food item, gradually increasing its quantity,& then introducing other foods.

A counsellor or a motherly person should talk to him lovingly and find out his mind. May be you can check his general condition by testing cbc and tsh in a good lab and inform me privately.

HOW TO PRESERVE YOUR HEARING

Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (B.A.S.L.P)
Audiologist, Delhi

Now, today's world is suffering from many unknown ailments, due to our modern lifestyle, diet and many more. One of the most hazardous problems today's world is suffering from is ear related i. E ringing sound or tinnitus with vertigo and hearing loss. So as an audiologist my request and advice to all to avoid unwanted loud sound and protect your hearing by either wearing ear plugs or ear muffs or by avoiding such detrimental situations by wiseness, because tinnitus is mostly related to your duration of noise exposure. Because your health is in your hand. So you people decide.

My daughter breaths through nose in the night. please suggest some medical precautions n some tips to cure it.

MBBS, MD
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
You mean she snores due to partial obstructions in nostrils. Use saline water and aply vaseline in each nostril, it will give some relief.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)

In lactose intolerant babies, milk of any kind is not advised so mother's milk. Since you shall not feed baby. Milk is not prohibited for you. It is not curable.

My baby is 34 month old. For d last 20 days she has been suffering frm high fever 103-104 frequently, like 3-4 times a day. Consulted doctors. Examined n conducted blood n urine tests. Reports were normal. Dey suggested paracetamol n mefenamic acid n finally wid antibiotic also. But no change in her health condition. Wat to do.

MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
She should be admitted in good hospital as such a high fever in small baby where cause of fever is not known can create problems. So get her hospitalised for further investigation and treatment. Don't worry child will recover.

I have a baby boy of one year. His weight is 8.6 around, is this the correct weight, please help me how to increase his weight, what are the food I gave him, please answer me quickly.

BHMS
Homeopath, Gurgaon
Hi, there are a few suggestions for you to improve your child's health. Give him milk about 300ml per day plus 1milk cereal like suji kheer, dalia, rice kheer or fruit custard. Give him variety of fruits but specially include banana which is a wholesome diet for kids. Give him dals, boiled chana, rajma rice or rajma tikki, moong dal and chana sprouts, dal parantha, chana dal or moong dal pakodis. Use soya in cutlets or add soya atta to wheat atta or suji to make pancakes. You can make idlis with mixed grains and added vegs veg dalia pulav is a complete healthy meal for kids. I feel it is important to have a nutritious meal and feel physically and mentally active. Your son's weight is ok for his age. With regular nutritional foods, it would further improve plus will ensure his overall physical and mental development.

My baby is four months old her weight is 4.8.My pedctrn said she need to putton.Shez on my feding i m hvg enough milk but she jus want to play i jus force fully feed her

BHMS
Homeopath, Ghaziabad
No don't force her let her have her own way, if you feel she is not taking enough than take out the milk and spoon feed her. Forcing her during feeding will adversely affect her feelings.

Hello, my son is about to reach 2.5 old and still does not speak much. Though he listens and understands all our instructions & talks but does not feel compelled much to repeat us. He says only bare minimum required words to get his work done. He is quite active in playing with toys and ball games, but much behind than his age group children when it comes to articulate his expressions. Many a times he want to say a full statement but end up saying so many jibberish words, looks like he want to say so much things but not able to do so due to some speech problem. Could you please guide me on should we show him to a speech therapist or a psychiatrist? Are these signs of speech problems? Thanks in advance.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
As you have narrated that your son understand instruction. Talk, get his work done in minimum (relevant) words, active and play games. Only your problem is that he does not articulate or communicate in flow and is not able to express in one go. These are all normal activity at this age. He listen more and speak less but retain every conversation in his mind. I do not consider him as abnormal. It is better 1st to consult psychiatrist than speech therapist.
