Your extraction will be done by a dentist and you do not have choice. Take allopathic medicines for the time till socket heals else asked some homeopathic doctor to remove the tooth and prescribe medicines.

I visited a dentist today because of gap between my upper jaw incisors, my lower jaw is retracted and he advised me to go for MORA followed with self-ligating braces. On doing research I came across MARA, could someone tell me the difference between the two and around how much would it cost for the treatment. Thank you.

MORA stands for Mandibular Orthopedic Repositioning Appliance. Advanced study in treating temporomandibular joint dysfunction is a prerequisite to achieve optimum results with this appliance. It consists of clear acrylic bite pads covering the molars and bicuspids connected by a heavy, oval lingual bar.  whereas The MARA (short for Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Device) is one of many orthodontic devices that is designed to correct overbites. Hope you get the differences now.

My grandfather is 80 years of age and recently had ulcers in his mouth, so he was not able to eat properly. He has removed his jaw and is using the temporary ones to eat. But because of the ulcers, he cant eat, the doctors can't diagnose the problem and keep on changing the medicines. He has become very weak and wasn't able to stand the other day. His legs and hands are swollen and he is not a diabetic patient. Please advise what can I do? I have his prescriptions with me and can forward if required.

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Ambala
What I could get from you is that your father is using dentures to eat. May be there is something wrong with the denture itself and because of chronic irritation from the same the ulcer is not healing at that particular point. If that is the case he needs to stop wearing dentures for about 1 week and apply dologel ct locally over the ulcer. If the problem is not resolved do contact me again. He needs to take multi vitamins too that I suppose he must be taking on doctor's advice. Do send me the prescription for more details. I hope this helps.

I have a teeth which is having germs and it needs root canal treatment, what should I do?

BDS
Dentist, Bilaspur
Hello whatever your age be. Saving a tooth is always recommended as extraction can be done anytime in life but chance for saving that tooth would come only once. I haven't seen the xray but if a dentist has advised root canal better do it.

May be you have the pyorrhea for that you have to get your teeth clean by the dentist and also surgery of the gum if its required. You are welcome to consult for the further diagnosis and treatment.

Visit your nearby dentist and get x ray done for that tooth. Depending on which the dentist will decide what can be best done. Either filling or root canal treatment.

Doctor sb there are some problem in my teeth like Bad breath so give me some advise that what should I do.
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.
