Mallet Finger

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Delhi
Mallet Finger

This is a flexion deformity affecting the distal interphalangeal joint of the finger and is due to either distal extensor tendon rupture or avulsion with a bony fragment after traumatic forced flexion of the extended finger tip. The resultant weakness is often painless and presents with an inability to actively extend the fingertip. Non traumatic mallet finger occurs more often in diabetics. Treatment is usually by splinting the distal interphalangeal joint in extension. Surgery is rarely required.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query. You are very young and most of these non specific type of leg pains, fatigue and tiredness are due to deficiency of calcium and vitamin d in body, especially if there is no back pain and radiating pain in legs. So please get serum calcium and vitamin d levels done and send it across to me for treatment advice. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

I am 61yrs. Male and feel pain in bottom bone in sitting posture. As I have not recollect any injury. I got x-ray of coccyxap/lateral 1-inferior segment of coccyx is displaced posteriorly. 2- rest of bones and joints under viee are normal 3-soft tissues are normal. I am takings only tab. Calvit k2 as suggested by doctor. Kindly suggest.

Physiotherapist, Ludhiana
Displaced coccyx takes abit longer time to get to normal. You need to care a lot in day to day life along with other treatments. Avoid taking too much of painkillers. Instead you can have a transdermal patch on the skin which has minimum side effects on you.
